A classic in Soho!. I highly recommend it. Better to book in advance as it can be very busy. Thanks to the Baltazar team for another great experience.
I hadn't been to Balthazar in a few years and I was very disappointed. The food was so-so and didn't really match their price points. I remember the chicken paillard was large and took up the whole plate and was thin. here what I got was basically a small chicken cutlet with bib salad a few tomatoes and not shaved parmesan but weird round pieces of thin cheese. really strange. I ordered white wine by the glass in two variations and the wine arrived warm not chilled. I should have sent it back, shame on me. All in all a really disappointing experience.
I love Balthazar. I go to NYC a accouple of times a year and I always go for lunch one day.
I passed by for a quick dinner alone. I hade the Balthazar salad, shrimp risotto, two glasses of wine the dressing was quite refreshing. The risotto was just good. The shrimp were a little over done. Next time I'll go with a glass of the Bordeaux or a half bottle of wine instead of the St. Emilion. I had not gone in for dinner in a long time. I was generally pleased I did.
We arrive, notify them that we have a reservation, they ask us to wait a minute. This older white gentleman walks in and says he has a reservation and they seat him first. I tell them we were waiting first and he sarcastically replies, “ well you waited and now you get a better table”. Honestly, it’s all the same. We are seated and we wait for our waiter to come. No one shows up so I have to flag someone down. I order the steak frites and it’s incredibly salty. Inedible. I eat my brother’s fries and they’re fine. I tell them and they say they’ll remake the dish. By the time I receive it, my brother is done with his dish AND they don’t put ANY salt on the food. It’s so bland but I’m just so fed up I eat and pay for it. The service and the food is so horrible, I will not be going back. Horrible.
We had a superb experience. The food, the service and the overall experience was enjoyable.
Wonderful service and food. Fun, lively ambience. Will always consider coming back.
Perfect! Loved our servers as much as the food! Both spectacular!!
Waitress was quite smug and not attentive! Very overpriced. Would not go back
I travel a lot for work and love having a nice meal with friends
Great service - even though soo busy, wait staff were pleasant and seemed to truly want the best experience for the guests. The food and wine were perfect and the effort was made to accommodate my seating requests. Really terrific.
Seated us a half hour early on a busy holiday lunch. Madame Maitre D’ was superb. Service was very good, though busser was aggressive in throwing away my son’s nearly untouched pasta dish on the sly and without asking. Server put in for a new plate which we took to go. Too stuffed for dessert, but took home goodies from the bakery. Overall a nice, belated bday meal with the staff more than making up for the minor hiccups by going above and beyond.
The table choice was perfect. We sat at an end against the wall. We had a perfect view of the room. The noise level
was not bad, we could hear each eat her talk. The service was attentive and professional. Our food was delicious.
The wine by the glass was great. We sat for a couple of hours and were not rushed.
I will definitely go back. It is an expensive restaurant.
It was very busy when we arrived, we had to wait a few moments but then were seated and promptly taken care of. Food and service were excellent. Even with the crowd, we didn’t feel rushed at all.
Always delicious food with great service! You feel like you are in the hustle and bustle of NYC!
The food never disappoints and our server Levi took care of us and helped to make our evening perfect!
Perfect. As always.
We live Balthazar and try to go whenever we are in NYC. As always it did not disappoint. The only reason four stars instead of five was the breaded veal cutler special. It was fine - just not exceptional. Otherwise wonderful meal!
It was a real treat to have brunch at Balthazar's. We had the brioche french toast and peach Bellini which were very delicious! It was very cold outside and very warm inside the restaurant.
Went for brunch and something as simple as french toast came out ice cold for a table of three. Sent back and second one came back not as good either. Slow service and crowded. Too many other great places to try in NYC so sorry, but this wasn't worth the trip.
Always fun to eat at Balthazar, though the service was much slower than usual.
Food and service were great but the noise level made this an experience that my husband and I would not want to repeat.
On a snowy afternoon they let us take our table before our reservation time and even tho they weren't serving dinner yet. We sat and had a drink and just relaxed until we were able to order. We were not rushed. All the staff were great. A lovely evening.
We were a little squished at our table for 6.
Siempre que vamos a Nueva York es una visita imprescindible. Nos encanta su ambiente y su comida. Esta vez fuimos con nuestras sobrinas (10 y 14) y fue realmente estupendo. Definitivamente nos encanta
Excellent, consistently good food. The place is bustling and the service friendly. I have made this a regular stop on my visits to the city for the last 15 years and have never been disappointed!
Balthazar was perfect for an elegant, even indulgent breakfast. It was my first visit after longing to visit for years, and it did not disappoint.
Came for breakfast with the hubby. Food was delicious (avocado toast with poached eggs and egg Norwegian with pastries and jam).
Atmosphere was great, the early you go the quieter it is. We got there at 845, only a handful of people. We left at 10 and was nearly packed - mainly with families so great place for any type of person/group.
The food and service were excellent! Staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home. Highly recommend and we’ll be back!!!
Excellent service, and very good French fare in a classic-looking space.
The ambience and great food is overshadowed by the unnecessarily crowded seatings and impersonal service - it felt like an upmarket dining factory.
Do yourself a favor and get the French onion soup. This is definitely the best I've had in the city. For lunch, two people can get their own bowl and then split something else and be plenty full.
Great brunch and beautiful ambience!
Iconic. It never disappoints.
One of my local faves. Best waitress and staff - so sweet and patient
Cómo siempre un gran lugar en New York,
Food was fabulous, service great.
Great vibe, wait staff member was a little disengaged but not rude. Food was lovely. Thank you.
Food was delicious and service was great
