espectacular, maravillosillo, muy buena comida, muy buen lugar
Wonderful restaurant, great service, excellent food. Really enjoyable in every way.
Always my favorite stop in Soho.
Balthazar will always have a special place in our hearts. It is the place my husband and I had our first date and we go back every year on our anniversary. This year, we celebrated year #13 together! Balthazar - the place, and food, the staff, has always been fantastic. We look forward to coming back every year! Thank you to everyone there - you all always make our experience a memorable one year after year.
Just one small request....can you please please please put the short ribs on the menu on November 17, 2020? :)
You can be sure that I am here for brunch any time we are in NYC. Love the vibe and the food is outstanding and consistent. Never disappoints.
Balthazar is the best breakfast in town. We jus love it !!
As always, very pleased with the service (hostess, wait staff etc.), and the food.
Great dining experience!
This was our second time at Balthazar, and it was -- once again -- a memorable experience. The food was delicious and the service was like a well-choreographed dance. Our water glassed never lacked for water, the pace of the food delivery was just right, the our waiter was professional and yet wonderfully personable. We will go back as soon as we are able.
I hate to be negative but Balthazar has definitely lost its pizzazz. As one reviewer pointed out in any earlier review, it really has become just a tourist trap riding on its former glory. I must agree. One wouldn’t mind putting up with the noise and crowds if the food compensated but sadly that just isn’t the case any longer. There were three of us dining and we all felt the same. The appetizers were just fair. Two onion soups (nothing special) and one goat cheese and caramelized onion tart which was lukewarm at best with hardly any onion. We all ordered steak (two au poivre and one petit). Again, nothing very special. The steak au poivre is $49. For that you expect perfection, but it was just mediocre at best. Dessert (chocolate pot de crepe) was passable. I will say that the service is still very attentive and friendly but it’s just not enough to overcome the uninspired food. For those prices, there are just too many other great places.
best place in soho, good seafood, good drinks, best vibes
Balthazar’s remains one of our favorite brunch spots. The service, food, and ambiance are consistently excellent!
Services was disgraceful - stuff couldn’t have been more unfriendly
You take a reservation time, hound people to confirm it and then make you after 1/2 hr past reservation time for a ‘table to open up’ - why take a reservation when you obviously have no intent on honouring that time
For the privilege of waiting I was sat in a sardine box in top if everyone else in the restaurant
I’d been to your restaurant many time before but this was beyond bad
Loved everything about our dining experience here!
We had dinner-My husband had the burger and I had the duck confit with a side of mashed potatoes. Everything was great, but the potatoes were especially delicious when mixed with the red cabbage, fruit compote, and balsamic-ruby port sauce. The service was outstanding, the restaurant itself was very noisy but lively. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting New York!
The best there is
I love Balthazar ! Anytime I can bring people there I do! It’s always a hit with everyone!
Overpriced and quality of food wasn’t worth it. Dry duck even more dry coq au vin. $18 cocktails that were made with cheap ice that water them down immediately. Every else in the city, that price affords a hand chipped ice block and well crafted drinks. Service was slow. And the tables, as all should expect, are so close together that you’re practically dining with strangers
Great vivid place with a French bistrot feel. Noisy, as expected, but very nice lively ambience with great food. Worth a visit for sure!
Great oysters and a very nice onion soup. A stunning room and perfect location. The service has room for improvements - we waited 25min to be seated even though we has a reservation. With a fully booked restaurant every day - they should know how to handle this. Don’t visit if you’re in a hurry - but overall a good experience.
I have been sure to visit Balthazar every time I visit NY since I moved away many years ago. It's always been a special experience. This time was disappointing. The oysters were OK, the steak frites mediocre. The very first time I've had a disappointing meal. As a result, the high ticket price seemed not worth it (also the first time I've regretted the expense). Wondering if their quality control is slipping?
Excellent food and brilliant service! The waiters were all top notch and very professional. Balthazar certainly is deserving of its outstanding reputation!
Always a favorite for us, and for our out of town guests. Great atmosphere, great food, and great service! Be sure to leave room for the profiteroles.
Wait staff was disorganized, occasionally hurried, occasionally neglectful. Food was superb.
Super meal, food excellent, wine expensive but lovely. Definitely be back.
Got seated promptly when requested and service was top notch. Waiters and staff look happy be there.
The experience was fantastic except for the seating process. We had a reservation, arrived on time and had to wait in line with this without reservations in an overcrowded entrance space with a lot of very frustrated people. The host was very pleasant and was working hard to resolve the situation.
As always a Soho staple. Food was excellent & was the service & energy of the restaurant. They are ALWAYS packed but somehow make it work!!!
À super host that welcomed us that evening. So much love and fun. He came by our table several times. He made the evening. I love that kind of interaction. Sorry I didn’t get his name. But I will remember him for the next time.
This restaurant never disappoints. My very favorite !!
Excellent service & great food. Tables are close together so challenging getting on & out, & for servers to get around - also noise level high. But overall was great. I loved the Branzino.
Was very busy, tables are tiny & space is cramped
But I do realize that’s how it is there.
It was loud but in a fun way, was very hot also
Food was amazing, service was wonderful! We will be back! The eggs in pastry puff is a must have!
Friendly service, lively atmosphere and exceptional food!
Food was very tasty. The tables were crowded with people. It became somewhat noisy when the restaurant filled up.
My favourite place in NYC we dined twice on our trip.
Great atmosphere, good service, fairly good food. Definitely overpriced for what it is - one can find food with similar quality in NYC very easily, but not in the same atmosphere. As long as you know you are paying more for the ambiance than the food, definitely go. If value for price is the biggest criterion, I would not recommend it.
Fabulous food service atmosphere
Best Duck Confit and Short Ribs in the world
