We have been to Balthasar several times and every single time we have loved it!

Ok, here were the issues
Ordered a beer...3 times before the waiter brings a bloody Mary and takes off. So I finally bring it to his attention that I ordered a beer, not a bloody mary. So he says just leave the drink here and I'll bring you the beer you ordered three times. Then I ordered oysters and he brings clams, and I complain and he says those are oysters. When I get the check he charges me for the bloody mary I never ordered. I wont go back.

Always enjoy eating here for breakfast when we are in NYC!

Every time we come to NYC, Balthazar is part of our dinning route. Everything is perfect: service, food and the environment. Different from others, Balthazar keeps its high level. Congratulations to the whole team!

Excellent Service and food!

Always a winner! I have been dining at Balthazar since the beginning, almost 25 years. The service, food and attention to detail is uncompromised. Dining at Balthazar is like attending a good friend's dinner party. You always know to expect something special and are treated likewise.

Beautiful Location like a bistro in France

So many people, so noisy, waiters couldn’t get though to reach all tables. Our table was separated 20cm from the one next to us. Food was ok, we order a stake and chicken filet and they were fine. Drinks were really good and service too. The table was so tiny we could not fit the bread and the plates at the same time. Better less tables and more space and independence between the tables.

Balthazar is a tradition when we visit New York. It is a not culinary creativity but when you are searching for comfort food done well with great service and don’t want loud music so that you can actual relax and enjoy conversation this is the place. We were a little disappointed in the food however. Ordered the petite steak and frites. Medium rare. Mistake. Cheaper cut should have ordered medium/medium well. Almost not edible. But the sauce was so great it! And the fries were perfect. The modules frites was a generous serving of mussels and fries. Broth was underdeveloped and the wine too sharp. It was not salted and didn’t have. Great flavor. We asked for Dijon and mixed that and salt in and it helped. The mussels were wonderful and cook perfectly. The service was terrific and lunch very enjoyable. We have decided that we are more on the adventurous side and on a short visit would most likely not put this on our list again. But if you want great service and a craving for a traditional steak or fish this is the place!

The place is really packed. Very nice place, food is good but I find it a little overrated.

Fantastic!

Thanksgiving meal in this soho brasserie was a great experience. Manically busy and although there was a wait who cares when the service was excellent and atmosphere buzzing.

Wir haben sehr lecker gegessen und trotz des Lärms einen schönen Abend gehabt. Service war gut, relativ teuer wie fast alles in NYC.

Enjoyed a great TGiving dinner with the family! Our 2nd time too.

Thanksgiving brunch

This is my 6th time having a meal at Balthazar.
However, it was my first Thanksgiving at Balthazar.
It was super busy and noisy. Way too crowded around the host's stand.
I wish there was an alternative place to wait.
I would have loved to have sat at the bar, but that, too, was full.
Amazingly enough we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time.
Not quite sure how they managed that.
Once we sat down (almost elbow to elbow with our neighbors) we entered a serene zone.
Our waiter was gentle, patient, helpful and somehow-or-other made us feel that we were his only table.
We were never rushed through our meal, and certainly not rushed to leave so they could set up for the next guests.
The turkey dinner was great, by the way!

It was so cold inside, even my coffee became cold so fast because of it. The couple next to us left because of the cold and we felt so sorry for your staff that had to work in those conditions.

Best Restaurant experience in NYC this trip, would highly recommend

Typical Parisiam brasserie. Food is good, however service needs improving. The noise level is very high. The air conditioning is blowing either too strong, or is totally off; here again improvement is required.

Great food. Felt like I was in France!

While the tables are (very) close and the noise level can be quite loud, this charming neighborhood institution never fails to delight. Also - for enthusiasts - perfect french fries.

A reservation does not mean they will seat you at that time even when your whole party is there. Arrived at 2 pm for a 2 pm reservation. Only after complaining twice to the host at 2:30 and again 10 minutes later were we seated at 2:45. A reservation just competes with their walk in list and your time is apparently just a suggestion of when to show up and wait.

Love the place, it reminds of being in Paris! The ambiance is always great!

Locale consigliato da amici ...atmosfera molto bella ma anche molto caotica ..in 2 abbiamo speso 120$ per antipasto un primo un secondo e due bottiglie d’acqua (Panna) non propio cheap ma cibo ottimo e in piena Soho..

Dreadful

We arrived early, grabbed a drink at the bar, around 15 mins after our reservation time I queried why I was waiting, no excuse just a bemused look from the clueless hostess

We watched other diners being seated so left and had an excellent around the Corner at the Crosby Hotel

We won’t ever be back
