The staff couldn’t cope with how busy it was and the tables are too close together
It’s always an amazing experience to eat at Balthazar.
My duck confit was delicious.
I enjoyed it very much. All was well up to standard.
It was very, very nice.
We had been only the previous week and this time they served us the onion soup (which were were so looking forward to) as it came it was a 1/2 size portion in a totally different bowl, it was very disappointing and we had to ask what was going on which made us feel very awkward
Fantastic so busy but service and food excellent
Had prix fixe menu. Excellent and good value
Will come again
Tourist trap. Enough said. You make an effort to go to a nice restaurant and end up in a train station bistro.
Made advance booking with OpenTable for a special occasion. Wasn't seated where I originally intended, but was shown to what the host acknowledged as the best table - thank you. As repeat clients, the service did not disappoint. Even an unfortunate spill of the tray carrying all of our entrees didn't slow the Balthazar staff down. Other guests were re-seated and the area was made tidy in under 2 min. Freshly made entrees reappeared for us in just 10 min, not missing a beat. This outing brought the discovery of Balthazar's hidden gem of a Sommelier. The magic of our evening was magnified by his intellect, charisma and vast knowledge. Of course, we will return many times more.
Staff went above and beyond to look after us when I was struggling with two toddlers. One very kind waitress even volunteered to entertain our children while we finished our food.
Good service and food, but the table was a little bit small for a party of 4
Were there for breakfast. Food was ok, but not more. Service a bit lacklustre. Has become a tourist trap. Too expensive for what it is
It is a busy restaurant with a good buzz/ambience. The food was very good and the sort of price you would expect to pay in Central London. The staff were friendly and service was moderately efficient. We waited a while for menus and then a while to order. Great decor and on the who.e a good experience
Really enjoyed it. Particular compliments to waiter Charlie. Great style and warmth. Thank you.
Great food and service!
Very busy evening celebrating our daughters birthday.
Starters and bread great,
We’re still rating starters when main course arrived. Waiter tried to serve !
We didn’t want to be rushed
Server took away food and reappeared with it 5 mins later
Food Luke warn and steak quite dry compared to previous visits
We should have said something at the time but didn’t!
Service was very slow
Was left sitting for a long time before anyone came - glasses on the table however no one ever brought any water
As always Balthazar was fabulous.
This time it was breakfast and again food was amazing.
Will always return
See you all soon
Sadly the food was rather appalling thrown on the plate and I can only say that I could have been in McDonald’s.
The floor was disgusting I nearly fell over on sandwiches on the floor. They were cleared up, eventually.
It was expensive and I would rate Bill’s as 5star compared to this. Nothing like the New York Balthazar!
Demasiado ruido y poco espacio. Muy agobiante todo pese a la buena comida
There are a lot of alternatives to this brasserie on the London restaurant scene. Unfortunately the beautiful location is not matched by either the service or the food choice and quality. This is probably due to the size of the venue. With a room that large there is bound to be a trade off. Add to this the fact that it is open very late then service becomes a victim. Everyone at the restaurant is friendly and polite but also overwhelmed and exhausted....come if you must but avoid if you can.
Stupendo come sempre. Cibo ottimo e atmosfera magica! Il nostro brunch a Londra!
Nice location but have to come early, at night you lose quality!
Good food, the guys at the bar have been amazing, but the service at the table has been poor.
We enjoyed our experience in the stylish and buzzy restaurant with great ambience. My bouillabaisse was delicious and my friends enjoyed their duck confit and stone bass. The special chocolate ball dessert made to look like an eyeball which melted when hot sauce was melted on it for Halloween was exciting. The staff were efficient but possibly too efficient for an evening meal, although we understood that's it's hard to find a balance between promptness and allowing guests to linger.
It was a casual rush meeting with my friend. We managed to have three courses meal in 90mins. Good service, nice food, it is perfect.
I have been many times to Balthazar both in London and NYC. They have both been consistently good but i always preferred NYC but I have to say that the energy in the London restaurant is just a fun and buzzy. looking forward to my next visit.
Terrible service . Long waits for food and all staff were rude , inattentive and aloof. Would not ever go back. Nothing like nyc one
Just lovely . Anniversary date and they had a booth reserved for us with complimentary sweet treats . Perfect
Always consistent and a lovely buzzing atmosphere. A delicious lunch with friends
We got the feeling the service was rushed and they wanted our table back as soon as we sat down We order cocktails as our starters and advise the staff that we would want our food after the cocktails unfortunately the food was ready 10 minutes after ordering I have visited this restaurant many times before and this was a disappointing experience as we were celebrating a friend’s birthday
Loved Balthazar’s, it was my second visit and everything was perfect. Beautiful food, great atmosphere and attentive staff.
I just dined for 2 at Balthazar this afternoon and was sorely disappointed in the quality of the service I received. Your team appear to be staffed by unsmiling, borderline rude, unhelpful Polish team members who couldn't give a care what customer service actually entails, much less service with a smile.
The waitress took the order wrong. We asked for onion rings, and they never turned up. The main course took 45mins to turn up. When we asked for it, we were rudely told, its coming, and we were given the impression why were you even asking. Its worse than British Airways service and that is saying a lot. Service was begrudging and we were made to feel as though we were an inconvenience to the service staff the entire time.
When leaving, at the coat check, I asked for my coat back. A lady - unsmiling - who a waiter later told me was the manager (shocking), took the ticket and looked at me as though, what did I want from her exactly?
I said to the waiter, it’s a tragedy belonging to the Covent Garden opera that no one smiles. When I pointed out the lady, he said, I can't wait to tell her. She's the manager.
I said I felt sorry for him.
Addtionally, the food was particularly poor value. I got barely 3 bites of Lobster or £21 (vs the whole one at Burger & Lobster). I felt the entire experience was a ripoff and took longer than was necessary to be ripped off.
Wonderful thank you.
A little disappointing this trip; the restaurant was very loud, tables felt more packed in than our previous visit, and service was quite slow. When we did get it though, we did really enjoy our food.
Excellent service as always, food was fantastic.
Nice menu selection, accommodated seating request, good food, felt rushed as tables turn over every two hours. No time for coffee or liqueur.
The Balthazar never fails to impress. Food quality is always impeccable. My favorite in London is going for the afternoon tea.
Lovely atmosphere and always great food and service
The second time in recent weeks that I’ve eaten here and really enjoyed it on both occasions.
Great buzzy vibe so maybe not ideal for a more intimate date but perfect for friends getting together, parties and business.
The service was friendly and efficient, food delicious too. The menu is varied with something to suit all tastes. Of particular note is the seafood. I had the crab to start on both visits and it was excellent.
I would certainly recommend to others and will eat there again.
