The Balthazar Boulangerie is housed next door serving its own house-made artisan breads, as well as a wide selection of homemade pastries, salads and sandwiches to take away throughout the day.
Fast service, wonderful food delicious and served with great charm as always! It is a bit pricey but very tasty and would recommend a visit.
had an amazing time, the food was great!the staff lovely, highly recomended!
Excellent service, attentive and friendly staff. The food was superb
Great place and food, service was absolutely shocking though! Total let down!
Eaten here before, this time we were given a poor table next to work station surrounded by wine bottle stands, had to move. Waited ages to be served, food arrived before drinks, had to ask 3 times before they arrived and food 80% eaten, which just isn’t right, orange juice never arrived at all.. Portion seemed smaller than on previous occasions too.. chose not to tip, which is not something I never do.. disappointing!!
Great place for weekend brunch,or in general lunch! we had an amazing waiter Ridas from Lithuania! Great expierence! we will be back!
Great venue for pre theatre dinner. Service fast and friendly.
I love Balthazar, and true love last a lifetime. Lunch for one never looked so good.
balthazar overwhelmed the quality of the waiter in so many times in general he was very contrived act of insincerity the food was very bad schnitzel was very greasy I love Baltazar but i don't think i will come after that much
They originally put us at a tiny table for 3 ppl. We have to ask to be changed. The food is quite average for its price.
My first visit. Loved the decor. Quite loud and energetic vibe. Food was great but wine list is pricey. Our waiter was attentive until it came to pay the bill. Would recommend.
Everything was great except it is expensive for what you get, especially the wine.
Very happy overall, staff great, the dining room is beautiful. If I was going to be hyper critical I would say the fish pie could’ve done with a little more sauce (a bit dry). The garlic prawns and lemon meringue pie were wonderful. An all round lovely evening. Would 100% recommend and return.
Great food, excellent service (have to give full marks to my waitress, Daniela) just a shame some of the other people in there had had too much too drink and couldn't cope with a night out in London on a Friday evening.
Great service, food and experience.
good lively atmosphere ,service was attentive, food pleasant
Lovely meal before the opera. Great and timely service.
Great but very noisy
An excellent experience - if anything better than the Soho New York equivalent. Still a little crammed - still a bit of buzz and noise - but the service was excellent, the food was superb, the wine was lovely, and the price was totally reasonable given the quality. Well done, and will be back!
Food was good but not great. Seems maybe this is very much for the tourist market in Covent Garden
Waiter didn’t appear for over 15 mins.
Food arrived before drinks order.
Just unlucky with our waiter
I went there for brunch. I had the omelette aux fines herbes which was very sub par in terms of taste. There was a salad with it that came without any seasoning. Had to ask for some olive oil. They came with it 10 min later because our waiter was not available as the lady that was making a table next to us just had to finish what she was doing before getting our message to our waiter. Because yes there is this hierarchy in the staff so you cannot just ask anyone to get you some olive oil. Overall disappointed. This place is overrated.
Balthazar is a wonderful French restaurant right next to the opera house. Food was delicious; I had the beef bourguignon which was wonderful and rich, my husband the Dover sole, which was equally amazing. It’s a beautiful interior and able to accommodate large groups. My only reason for four stars is that the service seemed quite rushed- and granted we were there on a Saturday evening. They do give you a two hour table limit and if you want a quiet romantic bistro, this isn’t the place. However, if you’re looking for French food and a reasonable price with good wine list- I would definitely try it out but make sure you reserve!
Birthday brunch for our friend ... EXCELLENT service! Great food! Wonderful experience, as always!
We liked it but probably not the best pick for families with children. Food was good, not exceptional. Service was great.
The restaurent was way too busy and loud - fine for a dinner with friends or work colleagues but probably not for a date. I had reserved a table for 8:45 and arrived 10 min early and didn't get the table till 9:10 which was annoying and the bar area is too small to properly enjoy a drink.
Good vibe, good time
We were late and they were very accommodating. The food was great and staff were very helpful. The only reason I am giving a 4* is that both parties for charged the wrong amount for the bill. An extra £50 per person. It was okay to fix that the first time but to do it again just shows lack of attention to detail.
Nice decor and location but the service was a bit random. Many of staff were bus boys/girls and could not take orders - and on a few occasions it was hard to flag down a real waiter - more of an effort than might be expected at these prices. An exmaple was our wine bottle was away from the table in a wine bucket - and our glasses were never refilled without our asking. As it was pre-theatre it meant that the wine was not poured gradually throughout the meal. Sorry Balthazar - but a bit more care required on your service standards.
Great atmosphere, it has a real sense of occasion, and a great buzz. The food can a be a little hit and miss, but the overall experience feels special.
The staff are disinterested. The duck was over salty. Very expensive. Great interior and ambiance
Amazing atmosphere, greatest eggs benedict and very helpful service. Tip: order the "Le panier"
Great food and environment
Family dinner. Son wanted French brasserie food - escargots, steak tartare, fruits de mer, etc. We were not disappointed: almost everything was great. Burger was a little overdone but can overlook that. Attentive service. Left happy.
Fantastic weekend brunch for belated Christmas present to daughter. Food service atmosphere all just wonderful lovely place
Celebrating moving to London
Whenever I’m in London I always have to visit here it’s the best
The food took too long and we felt the service could be better!
Delicious crab & scrambled egg on toast in a gorgeous setting.
Always loved coming here
