About Ballo Italian Restaurant
BALLO Italian Restaurant promises an Italian experience with intense design combinations, exceptional service and a fresh, authentic menu of Italian favorites and new creations. BALLO at Mohegan Sun was inspired by San Galgano - a Gothic abbey built in the 12th century, located in Tuscany.
Once in BALLO guests can enjoy a large wine by-the-glass list, specialty BALLO cocktails and freshly prepared Italian fare from the kitchen while sitting in a cathedral-like room replete with Italian fixtures, fabrics and dramatic lighting. Move further into BALLO and visitors can sit at one of the largest carrera marble bars ever built or have dinner in. Arches, stone and bold materials will accent this exuberant dining experience. But the food at BALLO is the real celebration!

Ballo Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Service was horrible. Waited almost an hour for our entree and when it was served we were not offered fresh pepper or grated cheese. Our water and bread were also never refilled. The restaurant was not busy and we were stuffed into a super small table in between 2 other couples when there were plenty of open tables. In the hour and a half we sat there waiting the restaurant remained quiet. I can say that we dine here at least once a month but will be reconsidering after our last few visits.
By far the best place to eat while at Mohegan Sun. We aren’t talking night and day better, we are talking an entire different week better. The front of house staff know how to make you feel special. You are ALWAYS greeted with a warm welcome and escorted promptly to your waiting table. Adam, our favorite person to guide us through our evening is the best in the business. Support staff come and go in a stealth like fashion, taking care of your every need. Sean and his staff never cease to amaze me with their creations. Tonight was no exception great food from start to finish. My advice to you is make your reservation, spend a few day in anticipation of your upcoming dinner, sit back and enjoy the ride. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed everything that has every arrived at our table while dining at Ballo. You just can not beat the experience you will have here.
Food was excellent as was the service. Bruschetta was amazing and could have been a meal all on it’s own. Next time going to order the Mac and cheese which is a secret here and not on the menu. Watched the table next to us get it and they made it table side in a hollowed out parm cheese wheel - really cool to see.
Can’t say enough about the quality of food and the incredible service. Every time my wife and I visit Mohegan we make advanced reservations for Ballos Restaurant and look forward to knowing that we’re going have a great meal and dinning experience. Thank u Ballos.
We have dined at Ballo’s for special occasions over the past few years. We were always very pleased with the food, atmosphere and service. However, this last visit we were disappointed. The menu had changed slightly and the portions were a lot smaller. My husband and I both noticed that when our dinner arrived. The price was the same but the portion was small. My husband, who normally is full was still hungry when we left. Also, you need to include some sort of cake, ice cream on your dessert menu. Not very much to choose from...most people like a little chocolate after a meal. Anyway, we usually pick Ballo’s first, but might look elsewhere for our next dinner out.
My girlfriends and I come here every year for “Valentine’s Day for the girls” and they never disappoint. This year, our server Casey was phenomenal and new the menu in detail. She was able to recommend drinks, apps, and entrees as well as answer all our questions. Everything was perfection. We we continue coming to Ballo every year for the consistency in food and service. Thank you for an amazing night Casey.
Food and drinks were great - tried the meatball appetizer, Caesar salad, ravioli and the off the menu truffle Mac and cheese. The staff was all very friendly and the dining room was comfortable.
I had made the reservation on Open Table and indicated it was for a birthday knowing that their policy was for free cannolis for your birthday. The bus boy who filled our waters was aware of my husbands birthday and said as much, but for some reason our server was unaware. When he came back to us for a dessert order I had to ask for the cannolis specifying that it was his birthday. Asking for a free dessert took a little away from the moment. Also, the table next to us was there celebrating a birthday as well and a couple membera of the staff sang happy birthday to them and took a photo - neither of those things were offered to us.
Despite the birthday issue, we enjoyed ourselves and we will be back.
The burrata and tomato salad was the best thing we ordered. The sourdough bread was also warm and delicious. My husband ordered the veal chop and he said it lacked seasoning (salt and pepper) and was served cool/room temperature. My pasta dish was good but again was room temperature. The roasted brussels sprouts were fantastic.
With all of the great options at Mohegan Sun I'm not sure I would return here.
Ballo's was very nice, I will return. Waitress was average. She couldn't recommend a drink, just the Ballo Limonata. We did not visit our table often, maybe twice and the twice was to pick up the dishes. We received the wrong desert. We ordered Tiramsu and we received the Italian donuts. Our check was comped but she clearly was not listening.
Had ANOTHER great meal tonight. Made an early so as not to rush before the show. Started with a great array of appetizers. Each one presented perfectly and tasted outstanding . The food that Sean and his staff puts out every single day is as good as you will every eat. My wife had the salmon and had it served over an arugula bead that she said was very flavorful juicy and served piping hot. I went with lobster tail and pan seared scallops served over tagliatelle, to die for...no joke as good as you will ever have. Deserts and an after dinner drink rounded out this visit to the best restaurant this side of NYC. Thank you Jason, Rachael and Adam for one again taking such good care of us. Already planning our next trip...
Once again, Ballo was stunning. Food, atmosphere, and service are simply unparalleled! Our waiter, Jody (who has gotten to know us and our tastes quite well) is just amazing. He goes out of his way to surprise us with special treats and truly makes us feel as if we're the only table he's taking care of when we're there. I've gone on and on about the great food in prior posts so I'm going to mention a few other things that make Ballo so special. First, if you request a minor change to a dish due to allergies or simply preference, they'll bend over backwards to make you happy. Second, if you made reservations, your table WILL be ready for your party when you arrive. Third, your courses are timed to match the pace of your party's eating style - you will neither feel rushed nor will you experience those long waits (you know what I'm talking about) that sometimes make you wonder if the restaurant knows you're still there. Kudos to management and another shout-out to Jody!
Food was solid, very good. Noise was hard to get over from the casino. Value, not sure what is meant by this, but for us it's was a nice special date night, to pricey for more than that, again food was great. Drinks were very slow to come out, ate most of my app before I got one. We also were not served any bread with our meal, as we found all the tables around did. Server sold the menu well.
I am a regular at Ballo. I have always had great service but on this particular evening our server was quite unattentive. We were finished with our appetizers before he even took our meal orders. So we sat for a long period of time before being served out entree. Finally we had to go to the hostess in order to pay our bill because our server gave us our bill and never returned to our table. I have been coming to Ballo for years and this I must say was the first time experiencing this type of service.
Our experience was impeccable. The staff was accommodating to our switching reservation times. Along with that, they provided us the table of choice due to a claustrophobic condition. Each and every time we visit Ballos the service, staff, atmosphere, and food gets better. Keep up the good work, and we will see you again soon.
