Ballard Annex Oyster House Ratings and Reviews
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle! The food is always delicious and they use quality ingredients. The staff is wonderful and I love the atmosphere. Their happy hour is one of the best, you can't go wrong with the white fish dip and the chowder. I would highly recommend the Ballard Annex to anyone!
Had a great experience. The bartender who took care of our party in the bar area was awesome. The food was great and had nice proportions, presentation, and flavor. Would highly recommend this place to any who are curious. The octopus, squid, and oysters were on point!
This was one of the noisiest restaurants I've ever been to. We had to shout across the table to be heard. Not kidding! I finally gave up. It was frustrating. The wait staff was really nice and had wonderful suggestions but they seemed a bit over-extended. We had 3 people come to take our drink order. Nice that they were so attentive but overall disorganized. Maybe someone called in sick?
The food was decent. Loved the dozen oysters we ordered. Came with fresh horseradish! Yay! I think the fish and chips were good according to my friends who ordered it.
Would I go back? Maybe if I didn't want to talk to my table mates.
Great seafood and drinks. We were seated upstairs in the bar area at a 4-top. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The baby octopus appetizer was tender and delicious. Willie's bucket with oysters, mussels and clams in butter, wine and garlic is so good--highly recommend side of bread to sop up the wonderful broth!
It was a toss up. The beet salad was very delicious, along with the savory cheesecake. The baby octopus entree was just too oily. I couldn’t finish it. The chocolate cake had too much coffee flavor and not enough sugar. The “whipped” cream was.....interesting. The feeling inside the restaurant is quite nice but the service, food preparation and plate presentation leaves much to desire for the price you pay. I might go back one day but not too soon.
We were there for restaurant week. I ordered a few extra oysters so I could try all five varieties and they provided a little list so I could keep them all straight. My black cod was "melt in your mouth" as it should be, the vegetables nicely crisp, and the broth tasty. I licked the plate clean. Breme Brule was nicely crunchy and well flavored. Waitress was friendly and helpful.
Ate here during Seattle Restaurant Week. The food was delicious. They were sold out of the main course I was going to order, so the waitress substituted the salmon dinner for the same price, which was an above-and-beyond accommodation. It was pretty empty at 7:30 on a Tuesday, so it would be a good alternative if you're stuck with a long wait at a more popular restaurant in Ballard.
My friends and I spent a week in Seattle. We came here on our last night in search of clam steamers and overall good seafood. We were not expecting to totally fall in love with the place though! The waiter was excellent, attentive, humorous, helpful, overall awesome. I wish I knew his name so I could give him props - he had dark hair man bunned and a goatee with funky mustache. He was awesome! The food was so good too! We all had different main courses and everything was delicious! I wish we lived closer than 1,500 miles away so we could visit more often. Everything was awesome!
The food was good. Nothing wrong with it in general, but not something we would go out of our way to have again, especially given the premium price. The ambience was definitely more bar-like than fine dining, which was okay. The music was too loud and given the several great options in Ballard these days, I don’t see us returning to the Annex for food.
We had a dozen oysters, the calamari appetizer, trout main dish and oyster po boy. Everything was quite tasty, though the fries were incredibly salty. Our waiter was awesome and offered to comp us due to the saltiness, but we felt everything was great, so did not do that. Only complaints was that between the hight ceiling and a rowdy crowd, it was very difficult to have a converation.
Lovely summer dinner with all the windows thrown open and the sun shining in. Arrived early for Happy Hour which was a good value. Proceeded to enjoy Raw Oysters, Scallops, Crab Mac & Cheese, Gnocchi and Lobster roll - note - this is a full price lobster part of which is on a roll, the claws are for you to crack and extract. A wonderful splurge.
There are so many restaurants to choose from in Ballard, but selected this place for their oyster selection, and we were not disappointed.
