Bali Hai Restaurant
The Bali Hai Restaurant has been a favorite in San Diego for over fifty years. Our spectacular views of the San Diego bay and the downtown skyline make us the perfect location for any special event. Along with our dining room upstairs, our premise possesses three different and versatile private rooms. The flexibility of multiple private facilities allows us to accommodate any type of party. We host weddings, class reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, concerts, memorials, festivals, fundraisers, business meetings, seminars, and corporate events.

Great islandy ambiance. Food is pretty good nothing really outstanding, and the $48 is a little steep for the selection imo. But I guess the free flowing champagne makes up for it.
One of the greatest meals of my life.
Good food grat service beautiful location will be back a lot !!!!
Very underrated. Great food, view and value. Wasn't packed, great drinks 5/5
What an amazing restaurant, with a romantic view of the lake. Outstanding customer service, and wonderful food and drinks.
Amazing restaurant with stunning views. Restaurant is actually up the stairs when you walk in. There is a banquet room on the first floor and it can be kind of confusing.
Our reservation was for 1:30. We weren’t seated until about 2. After we finished eating just our first plates, our server notified us that the buffet will be closing in about 20 minutes. The buffet was being put away before 3pm so we didn’t even have an hour to eat. We just felt really rushed and didn’t get to eat much or enjoy our food. There were no desserts left or even vanilla ice cream. I feel like we should have been notified that we would have less than an hour to eat I really don’t think it was worth about $70/person after taxes/surcharge/gratuity .. will not be returning.
Usually great service was incredibly slow took over 20 minutes to get drinks
Disappointed to be seated outdoors with no view after requesting a nice table with a view. When I spoke to the hostess, she told me (in a slightly snarky fashion) it was because I was late. We were 5 minutes late. Anyways, did not feel the love and I really wanted a special night for my mom and daughter. Food was ok, waiter was great.
Great food and scenery. Excellent staff. Enjoyed everything.
Amazing quality! Every drink, appetizer, side and main course was excellent, each w special character and cooked perfectly. So impressed!
Amazing view, great food!
Great drinks, food and the view is amazing. Great place to go with friends, or a special night out with your mate.
I’m never disappointed, great selection, professional, and friendly service.
Good food and a great view. Not enough vegetarian options
Glad we were seated outside as the noise level inside was fierce. Food was awesome.
Loved the environment and food!!
We really enjoyed our dinner and the food was amazing. The view is beautiful and I certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun evening with friends and family.
Zombie was recommended but not very tasty and for $10 was whimpy sized drink.
I ordered salmon, it came on a giant plate making the salmon look tiny, and got 3 beans with it.
Pacifica Del Mar does a much better version of this plate.
Would love the view but many people were in my way to see much of it.
Invited an out-of-town colleague to dinner with me at Bali Hai. I made reservations earlier in the day, had a table right by the window so I had a skyline view of the city and my friend had a beautiful sunset view with the harbor. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and had perfect timing with regards to bringing food and checking drinks. The price was moderate and maybe a bit better than I would expect for a San Diego ocean front restaurant. Great place to bring folks new to San Diego or locals to come down for a relaxing, delicious meal!
Hanna was great, always smiling and refilling and replacing. The food was excellent and so many choices.
Excellent snow crab and lox
Superb food selection and ambiance. Setting on San Diego Bay was exhilarating. However noise level was intense.
Early Mother’s Day
Great place to have a waterside brunch with family and friends! Waiter didn't allow your champagne to go below the full line.
Beautiful view and a great selection of food. The brunch is my favorite with unending mimosas!
Came on the recommendation of an old friend
Great location with fine food and great service.
Wonderful experience all around! The scallops were cooked perfectly and the brown butter grits are something I'll be thinking about for many meals to come.
This place is just a tourist destination. They have a lovely view, but the food is only mediocre. And the acoustics are bad. It was too noisy to really enjoy this place. We ordered their special halibut. It was mushy. If we hadn't needed to be someplace in an hour, we would have sent it back. The entrees are not sufficient so we ordered fried rice and it was too greasy to eat. I can't imagine going back.
We loved the food, atmosphere, and gorgeous view. It was an especially delightful evening with the Hawaiian guitarist Desi in the lounge. He MADE the evening magical!
Definitely would recommend. Our waiter, Dustin W., was every diner’s dream of helpful, quick, and non-intrusive. Service was great and he was timely in bringing drinks, apps, meals and drink refills. He also was handling some loud and overbearing customers seated near us and handled that with ease to the point my husband who never writes or encourages me to write reviews was like we need to commend this guy for his outstanding service. Top notch!
Easter family dinner
Food was pretty great, had the Easter buffet. For what you get it was a little pricey, $55 per adult. But I would go back.
Had Easter Brunch with the family here. We were seated outside on a perfect day and really enjoyed the view. The food was ok, not sure if it was because of it being a busy holiday but I definitely noticed a difference that day. It’s still one of our favorite places to take friends and family for Sunday brunch though hoping they can bring back the food quality.
Our dining experience was HORRIBLE! We were at the Bali Hai restaurant (Easter brunch) to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and the place was packed and insanely LOUD. We weren’t able to enjoy our food as the other guests were extremely loud. We needed to cover our ears at times as some people were yelling at each other (they were just casually talking amongst each other). The women at the table (that were a couple of tables away from us) were behaving inappropriately and kind of drunk. They should’ve controlled themselves as there were some children throughout the dining area. I just wish that the staff did something about it. We’re paying the same amount of money as the other customers. They should’ve at least controlled the situation. We will never come back to that restaurant again!
My wife and I sat outside on the balcony patio for an Easter brunch buffet and the view was amazing! It was nice and quiet, which we prefer. The service was excellent; the waiters and waitresses were very attentive and kept the unlimited champagne coming and finished plates off of the table. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone that likes Hawaiian fusion cuisine.
We took our family for Easter brunch. I was surprised at the selection of seafood available. Everything tasted fresh and great. LOVED the french toast!!!
Food was okay, our waiter just set the tone for us throughout our meal. Planned last min to come here and make reservations for our 6 yr wedding anniversary. We were seated right away. Unfortunately we were seated next to a very large noisy party. We saw an open table where it would be less disruptive but was told it’s “probably” reserved. Mind you, we are a non-confrontational couple. Waiter dude seemed annoyed and asked “why? do you want another table”? My husband proceeded to say yes it’s very crowded and noisy in this area...I interrupted him by saying it’s fine we’ll stay here. About 3 mins later, another couple who was seated next to the large party was moved to a quieter area, with no problem. Uh ok. I ordered the Korean chicken, tasted very “hole in the wall orange chicken” and my passion fruit daiquiri didn’t seem to have any rum. 4 stars for my hubbys meal. He loved the seared tuna, oysters and his ipa beer.
Beautiful view. I would go for the view alone as long as you can get a table by the window, otherwise it's a "pass." Food was average; nothing too creative or interesting. They do have an extensive drink menu. I wish the service was better. We hardly saw our server, he never introduced what the local fish was or what the catch of the day was (until we had to specifically ask), he never asked how our food was, and we had to order drinks from a bus boy that was passing by since we hadn't seen our server in at least a half hour. The service was definitely lacking.
Very attentive service, especially with my 2 food allergies.
Absolutely wonderful. Best Rib Eye steak I've had in many years. The view and table were exquisite.
