Super fun, great food, but REALLY loud. But still, the overall experience was amazing. Some people just shouldn't have unlimited champagne.... :)

Brunch and Happy Hour are great here. There dinners continue to disappoint with small portions. There are so many better choices in San Diego.

Too loud. Is there anyway to mitigate noise level?

If you want to experience San Diego, a dinner here is a must. From the killer Mai Tai to the killer view, The Bali Hai is a great place to enjoy a Sunday brunch or sunset cocktail. This is a staple of San Diego culinary that has been on the scene for over 20 years. Love the ownership, love the servers love the experience.

The view was great, unbelievable. But not the place to romance your girlfriend or wife. Way to noisey and loud chatter. Food portions were small and overpriced . I was not impressed.

Great ambience and service for our party of six, met our request for a good view table and the various fish selections were very good. Overall, a very nice experience and evening with family and friends. Thanks.

Big party behind my table, a lot of open tables away from party and the party was hovering around my table. No privacy for me and my date.

Been a few times now, great spot but this time my food wasn't quite the best, ordered a 30$ steak, not cooked to my liking, took it back microwaved and returned still not cooked. They comped me a glass of champagne but would have rathered my steak done correctly.

The Food was luke warm, like I have been sitting for a while before it was brought to the table. The fish over cooked. Overall I was very unimpressed.

The service was excellent. Our female server (don’ remember her name) answered every single question we asked. We had a couple people with us who had some food restrictions and she answered in detail about all of our questions without having to go check on it . We went in at 5:30 and there was music in the bar. It was way too loud. The restaurant was probably only 1/3 full and we had to talk very loudly to each other and the people on the ends we’re unable to hear what everyone was saying.

Had a great time - Sunday brunch - free-flowing champagne (sparkling apple juice for the children), lots of food choices, great seafood, desserts, salads, roast beef, pork dishes, etc.

Servers were courteous and attentive - atmosphere was fun. We booked a window table and enjoyed all the activity on the bay. Bird watching was great!

After dark, the city view was worth a million dollars. Pictures cannot do it justice. We even got the added bonus of some fireworks in San Diego during our meal. The food was amazing (tuna and scallops). The price was reasonable for the excellent food. The atmosphere was a bit noisy due to the layout of the building, but easy to overlook that when looking out the window. We had a dessert with mangos that was out of this world delicious. The experience took us back to time spent in Hawaii.

Didn't have the fabulous food we remembered but we haven't been there for a number of years; menu was totally different; sorely missed the Salmon en croute they once offered and what they now offer is much smaller portions and higher priced. Example; my sister-in-law ordered the $22 BBQ glazed salmon entree and the salmon maybe weighed 4-5 ounces and was served with plain white rice and a few vegetables; she ordered Japanese Curry Rice to liven up her meal for an added $8. Before dinner we decided to share spring roll appetizer because we were told there were four portions only to find each wasn't longer than 1.5 inches; not worth $9.00. My brother and I ordered Orange Lobster- tempura fried and came in a soup bowl with the orange sauce so overwhelming the slipper lobster pieces they weren't tempura crisp, instead they were soft and mushy. On the plus side we were treated to an amazing view of the moon rising over the San Diego skyline.

The view is spectacular, and the drinks are fun and delicious, but the food is so-so and the service is disinterested at best (perhaps they think we're tourists who aren't likely to return?) There is a special menu called "The Greens" for vegetarians.

I was looking for a nice location to celebrate a friend's upcoming birthday. She lives in Pt. Loma and suggested Bali Hai. A dear friend of mine renovated the restaurant five years ago and my memories have always been good. This time no difference totally lovely venue with all the pluses.

Went to celebrate a birthday and none of the staff acknowledge the event with the exception of the hostess who wished our son-in-law happy birthday. When we ordered dessert I asked the waiter to bring a candle as we were celebrating a birthday. He did. Bali Hai has always done birthdays right they just fell down a bit this time. Food is always awesome. Drinks great. View of the bay breath taking. That alone is worth every penny

The location is very good as it is right by the bay. However, going inside the noise from the bar was horrible. Very loud and it made for a not so fun time trying to converse. The food was very good and that is about the most positive thing I can say. The big issue was the extremely slow service. The waiter apologized for the wait when he first came to our table. After that, we had several long waits with no apology each time he did finally show up. To top it all off, when we received our bill, we saw that the restaurant automatically adds a 3% surcharge to every check. I normally tip 20% for even a good meal. The waiters poor service got this dropped to 10%. And the surcharge got it down to 7%. We can't recommend this restaurant unless you have no where to go or nothing else to do.

We enjoyed ourselves aside from it being EXTREMELY noisy. Our server did not frequent our table, so when she did, we had a list as long as our arm to give her. The food was tasty you can't beat the view.

Great place to celebrate a special occasion. We have been here numerous times for dinner and for Sunday brunch. My only suggestion is to offer better dessert options at brunch. I didn’t care much for the dessert. Other than that all the food there is delicious! The view is beautiful.

Ask for a window table over a week ago when we booked reservation and also called to request one but didn't get one and saw window tables empty for over an hour. Probably won't go back. Staff was friendly enough but would stand in your way at times and would look at you but not move to let you pass. Food was okay but not great. Tom Hams lighthouse is much better.

When we arrived we asked for a table away from the bar area because the noise level was unbearable. There were many many tables available, but we were seated at the closest table to the bar. During our entire meal these tables remained empty. We continually requested to be moved, but we were ignored. We could not hear each other talk, even though we were across from each other. The noise level was frankly painful. We are unlikely to ever eat at the Bali Hai again in the future.

We have dined at Bali Hai several times and loved the experience. This time, however, was very disappointing. We scheduled at reservation a week in advance and when we arrived, we still had to wait for a table. After we were seated, I had to seek out a server for water as no one came to our table. The server assigned to us was not as personable as other experiences, and came to refill our glasses of water twice despite the duration of the stay. Finally, the food just wasn't up to par. The food is usually exceptional, but this time spices were overused and the trays were not filled as quickly as normal so there was slim pickings. These factors were all very disappointing to us as we had just celebrated getting married the evening before and this was intended to be a very special, romantic brunch.
