We were there to celebrate a birthday and it was a perfect day for all 7 of us. The food was great and the waitress was absolutely wonderful
The food was great. Never would have guessed it was buffet from the taste. Our waitress wasn’t the best and not the most attentive but the atmosphere and view made up for that.
All of our meals were quite good (food presentations). Main courses were ala carte. Service was very good, too. Great views of the bay and downtown San Diego.
I've been wanting to check Bali Hai out every time I'm in San Diego, and I finally was able to make it. I informed the restaurant that we were coming for my grandpa's birthday, and they seated us in a window table with an amazing waterfront view! Our server was exceptional, and the food was delicious! But my main reason to come was for the tiki drinks and they did not disappoint. I will definitely be back so I can get a second tiki mug!
Great food and drinks, beautiful view. I will definitely come back when I visit san diego again.
appetizer of coconut shrimp was good. Didn't enjoy entrees that much. Sea bass was plentiful, few veggies. Didn't care for bok choy which was most of veggie. Didn't seem worth $32. Spouse had whitefish/halibut. Advised was dry, not allot of taste. Server was okay, hovered too much when eating appetizer. Felt rushed to order our entrée. We are locals, didn't enjoy our dining as much as in the past. As always view is outstanding.
Was there on a Sunday for the brunch. Many choices seafood, breakfast, and all the usual fare.
It was all good, view of course, is spectacular, but it was very noisy and difficult to talk. This is due to way the Bali Hai is built with entire restaurant all one room. Highly recommend for the experience, but not very good if you want a quiet conversation with your date.
Wife and I were visiting town for a long weekend vacation. Overall experience was great, the only snag was with our reservation/check-in with the hostess. We had a late reservation and arrived early, but were told by the hostess that we would likely be seated early and to grab a seat in the bar if we wanted to grab a drink, they would call when a table was available. We were only seated for dinner after sitting in the bar for nearly 2 hours and noticing several empty tables in the dining room and going back to the hostess station to ask to be seated.
Food and drinks were delicious! You simply wont find a better view in San Diego. We sat outside and it was perfect. Inside was a bit noisy, but the ambiance is very nice should you chose to dine inside. The fun cocktails add to the island vibes, and the food is good!!! Our waiter was a bit impatient with us while deciding on drinks and food. We were the last customers of the night for him, and it showed that he was running thin. Thats my ONLY negative. Everything else was great!
I've only been going to the Bali Hai on and off since 1956. Food is very good. The view is breath taking, spectacular of San Diego bay! Service is excellent. What more can I say.
Parents anniversary dinner
Food was good, only problem was for a total of 18 people it was difficult to not have split checks, the guests found this very inconvient to do the check splitting with all the gratuity and added fees now. It would've been a lot easier if we could split it up in groups of eight etc.
Great drinks and service. Killer ambiance. Food was OK. Super salty entrees. We eat there on special occasions for the views and mai tais. The food is hit or miss.
Best Mai Tai in town, good food, great view, slightly overpriced.
I have been going to the Bali Hai with family and/or friends for over 50 years. I can hardly believe it but my sons are in their fifties and we went there before they were born. I was with relatives from Canada. And at sunset, it’s so outstanding, it compensated somewhat for the noise level that I didn’t remember being so loud. I noticed it last year for my birthay but I didn’t think about it. It still is a very special place.
Absolutely beautiful view. Delicious food. Wonderful service. Worth every penny. If I’m in San Diego again definitely returning.
Hannah always makes it the most pleasant experience of any Restaurant in San Diego
Always a great place to take out of town visitors. Their Man Tai is the best in San Diego. Even better than Hawaii. Food was good and fresh but server was a little slow. Restaurant was not crowded and she was a little slow. But really enjoyed the lunch.
There were too few options for lunch, and I don't like raw fish, making one less option. The view from the window seat was excellent.
Very nice meal with wonderful views of downtown San Diego. The drinks are good and the dinner items ranged from solid (Hulu Chicken) to really good (Korean Chicken).
Can't beat the view! The ambiance is great. For that old-time-Elvis-might-walk-in feeling. Really enjoyed much of the food. The lamb pad thai and the calamari stood out especially. Drinks were fun and reasonably priced. Free parking and good service totally made for a great dinner!
We came here for Easter Brunch. Food, staff, and everything was to the nines! Our reservation was at 1:30pm and Easter Brunch was 9-2pm. I was afraid we'd be rushed or that the food wouldn't be fresh but I thought wrong.
Very impressed and very Happy! Beautiful view. I would definitely come back.
Had Easter brunch with the family and everyone loved it. Something for everyone and very tasty. Nice view of the harbor and downtown.
Very loud. The food was excellent!
Larry was Sweet as usual, our Waiter Tommy was at our service every minute. What a great place!
Easter brunch. Good variety was excellent. Service was wonderful and the view was spectacular!
Great views, mediocre food. The last time I had eaten here was almost 50 years ago, and that memory was favorable, in direct opposition to our experience this night. It was our 25th anniversary and I wanted to have a romantic ambiance (it does)m, nice view (yup) and great food (sorry, not so much). I chose the short rib, my wife ordered the scallops. Short rib had been recommended by our server, Erin. The meat was tender but dry, no sauce. Scallops? Three of them for about $30, more of an appetizer than a meal. When I pointed out the sad condition of the rib meat, our server had no reply at all except to walk away in avoidance. Since I had managed to gag down most of it I didn't press the point, BUT the point is that we will not return. Sad tale for a Sn Diego icon. Bali Hai, Balii Bye Bye.
Love this place! Great food, legendary Mai Tai's and a view to remember!!!! Just go!!!!
My 3rd visit in last two months because of the view, delicious food at reasonable prices, quiet atmosphere for lunch and good parking.
Wonderful service, wonderful views, great restaurant!
Such a lovely ambience and view - especially on a beautiful day - which is exactly the day we were fortunate to be there. All four had salads for lunch - my cobb salad was great and those have the cashew chicken said it was very good too. Our waiter was very attentive. For such a beautiful day, around the noon hour, not many people were in the restaurant. I know its not summer but it was so gorgeous out.
I mean yeah the food was okay, the appetizer sampler was amazing though and omg the drinks are absolutely the best part! I would so come back!
Went for a birthday celebration and the drinks made the atmosphere fun. Service was quite slow which was disappointing
We went to celebrate a birthday and the food was not the best, paid 44 to be disappointed. Champagne was good and the view was nice but that was it.
Gorgeous. Good Good a little pricey.
Excellent food and service.
Went here in the middle of the week for my wife's birthday. Had a reservation for 5pm when they open for dinner which almost guarantees you a window seat. Food was ok. Scenic view is one the best in San Diego.
This place is great the staff was friendly and efficient the one-man band was great the music was good the food was delicious it was my girlfriend‘s birthday she enjoyed it and it was reasonable for the occasion my company has had our company Christmas party there twice I love the happy hour we really had a great time
Spring Break 2018 with my daughter off to an amazing start at Bali Hai Restaurant. The food was so awesome and the location was beautiful. Fast and friendly service as well. Mahalo!
Everything was great from atmosphere to food and drinks ,and service . I cannot complain
