Views and food were great.
We made a reservation for a birthday celebration for five people the seating area and the view was beautiful however the server service sucks he didn’t come and asked if we needed any other drinks or refill our drinks he didn’t check to see if we have water he did not ask us if the food was OK we had to bother another waitress for that and the portions for the price were minuscule it was disappointing
Service was impeccable as was the food and drinks. They made us feel special while celebrating our anniversary and the view of the water was spectacular! The price was also very reasonable, I will definitely be coming back here.
Went down for some live music on the patio. Decided to book a reservation for dinner. the Korean Fried Chicken is the bomb. Great tropical drink menu too. Very happy.
Tropical theme, great service, excellent selection of tropical mixed drinks.
Arrived and hostess said reservation was for Tuesday WRONG! Plus elevator didn’t work had to walk up two flights of stairs and I am disabled!
They did find a table after a twenty five minute wait.
Soiled our anniversary dinner.
Coming to San Diego for the first time has been an adventure. Having Bali Hai recommended to us, it lived up to all expectations. Wait staff was extremely friendly and attentive, food selection was great and tasted extremely well. I'm just not sold on the Mai Tai's as being all that and the reason why you only get two max is because it's all alcohol. Better have a designated driver. Sadly, the value is dropped a star because of the costs and maybe that's just me, everything is going through the roof cost-wise. Sorry :(. However, the atmosphere was fantastic along, pleasant looking over the bay at the San Diego night skyline.
Victor provided excellent service, and the views of the San Diego bay and downtown skyline are outstanding. It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Food was good, I had no complaints, but a bit pricey for just "good". Maybe I'm in post Covid inflation sticker shock? For our party of 3, we had 1 appetizer, 2 sides, 3 entrees, 2 alcoholic drinks and our bill was over $160 before tip. Also, the acoustics meant that it was very noisy. No music or noisy patrons, but it was sometimes difficult to hear regular conversations at our table.
another great evening dining at Bali Hai👏👏👏. We took our daughter , who was visiting and we had such great food & service by Mary. The ambience was wonderful, as always.
The dining hall is very loud but appart from that we had a great time. The view is beautiful and we enjoyed the food!! Thanks
Best view in San Diego. Excellent food, drinks and service at a very reasonable price.
We had reservations for lunch but there looked to be plenty of open seating. Had a great seat at the very end of the outside balcony with an amazing water view. I had lobster tacos, delicious! My husband had the Kalua pork plate, so tender and juicy! Drinks were fairly reasonably priced for tiki drinks. My only disappointment was that they didn't have any Mr. Bali Hai mugs available, oh darn guess I'll have to go back. I had the famous Mai Tai and was cautioned by the waiter that there was no fruit juice and once ordered could not be sent back. I guess a lot of people think Mai Tais have fruit juice but they actually don't. This was a very strong drink but tasted just like a Mai Tai to me. They limit you to two since they are so strong but I don't think a second drink would have been a good idea for me! I was quite happy!
Great food and service a little loud but that is due to the design of the building . I will return
Wonderful service, delicious food and amazing view. Will definitely be back.
Still a special place. Million dollar view. Good food. Excelent service. Loud during happy hour.
Great place to dine with a nice view! Food is not that good though but the view of the sea makes it worthwhile.
Great view, good food. Service was less awesome as usual for this lunch but we weren't in a rush and it was a great day to sit out on the deck and watch the boats go by on a beautiful Friday afternoon. The lunch menu does not have the plentiful vegetarian options that the dinner menu has, but with appetizers and dessert I did not go hungry.
The Bali Hai has been a top pick for meeting up with local friends or showing off to out-of-town guests for decades and that is not changing any time soon.
The food is so-so, but everything else about the place is amazing: the view, the Mai Tais, the service, the ambiance, and the ukulele player/singer! I bring people there every week or two.
Excellent chef! Apps and mains were cooked well and full of flavor.
Meal and view was good, drinks and appetizer was delicious too.
Our favorite restaurant in San Diego. The Mai Tai’s are the best. The food is outstanding and the service is exceptional. Music by Desi is the best. Hawaiian and Polynesian music fits perfectly with the theme.
If I had one suggestion it would be to install noise reducing measures throughout the restaurant and lounge. When people start talking they end up yelling to be heard over others who are yelling. It’s not the music, the sound level is perfect.
The view was awesome, and the food was great!
They need more mugs to buy. The rib eye was freakin great.
Delicious food! Loved the Spinach cream cheese lumpia:)
Overrated. Food sucked and not worth the money. Poke was grey. Meat tough. Food flavorless. Cheesecake tasted like mushy cake with acid on top.
Bali Hai is always nice. The Mai Tais are always awesome. Our server Kevin, was as close to perfect as it can get. He was helpful, timely, courteous, and an all around lovely guy. My mother adored him. The food was good, the view was spectacular, and Kevin was amazing. Thanks.
Outstanding food and view and service and ambience for the money- well worth going to if you’re in San Diego!
Great food, strong drinks, breathtaking view. This combo never disappoints! Our server, Mary was knowledgable and friendly!
Always have a great experience here and views are amazing!
It was my husband’ 60 birthday and I want to take him somewhere special. We were not disappointed with our first buffet after almost 2 years. The ambiance and the quality of food were excellent. Servers were very attentive. They were very prompt with refilling my ice tea and clearing the dirty dishes from the table. I most definitely will return!
We were celebrating our anniversary and requested a nice table when we made our reservation. We had a great spot at the window, the staff wished us happy anniversary when we checked in. My husband said it was one of the best meals he has had at a restaurant! One slight mix up when I was given the wrong entree, but it was quickly fixed. Our server was great, attentive but not hovering. Would definitely recommend and would go back. Only issue is that it was quite loud, but it was a Saturday evening.
Excellent view, delicious drinks and food. The service is prompt and friendly. My favorite restaurant in San Diego.
The view is always lovely and the staff is fantastic!
It was extremely noisy, very crowded, our waiter, Jonathan, was overwhelmed. Consequently, the service was lousy. The food was good but way too spicy. The worst part was the noise. You can call it “energetic,” But it was truly a painful experience to try to have a conversation. The only A+ went to the beautiful view of the bay. No, we will not go back.
The view was amazing, the food was great and our server Daniel made the overall experience for my birthday truly enjoyable with his recommendations and great demeanor. First time visiting Bali Hai and definitely not our last.
You will not be disappointed. The food was great. The staff was very polite and attentive. Great service all around.
Good food with spectacular bay view!
Started with Ali’ i Tasting. Coconut shrimp and beef skewers were highlight of this sampler appetizer. Good portion of poke, but not the best poke I’ve had. Next time will just order the coconut shrimp and beef skewers.
Grilled market fish was halibut, which was excellent with the mango purée. Could have had a bit more of the coconut basmati rice and purée on plate.
Came to celebrate a friend’s birthday and got a complimentary dessert (nice touch)
Overall pleasant lunch experience, but restaurant got a bit noisy even with social distancing.
Marissa was our server and she was terrific. Friendly and professional and made great recommendations.
Great meal and a beautiful view of the city and harbor. Celebrated our anniversary, Desi provided entertainment before we were seated, it was wonderful. Will definitely return!
Server only spoke to males at the table
Food + view + ambience was once in a lifetime
