Bali Hai Restaurant
The Bali Hai Restaurant has been a favorite in San Diego for over fifty years. Our spectacular views of the San Diego bay and the downtown skyline make us the perfect location for any special event. Along with our dining room upstairs, our premise possesses three different and versatile private rooms. The flexibility of multiple private facilities allows us to accommodate any type of party. We host weddings, class reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, concerts, memorials, festivals, fundraisers, business meetings, seminars, and corporate events.

Need to book at 8:15 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
We set a reservation a week ago, asking for table w the view and the hostess wouldn't give us a window table. This was for my birthday.
The rib eye steak was so bad. It was almost all fat and black around the edges because it was so burned. I was able to eat 40% of it. My dad's was the same. $36 for what?! Our server was very nice, very helpful.
Waste of money. They didn't even honor where we asked to sit with a reservation made way in advance. Wish I'd gone somewhere else for my birthday.
Birthday dinner. Excellent food except for the beef skewers, they were overcooked. Great service. Way too noisy.
Beautiful view. Service was okay. Food was good. Very loud. Beautiful restaurant.
It was a friends birthday and it went great!
We are so glad to hear! Thank you for sharing, and we look forward to having you again, mahalo! Best, Alisa
Beautiful views, reasonable prices, delicious food, and excellent service!! I highly recommend this San Diego beauty!!
Thank you for sharing Jessica! We are so glad you and your party enjoyed yourselves. We look forward to having you again, mahalo! Best, Alisa
Wonderful selection of menu; great service (Hannah); the best of view and so excellent in parking facility!
Thank you for the review Francesca! I will be sure to share this review with Hannah as well. We look forward to having you again, mahalo! Best, Alisa
Sat for 20 min & didn’t get acknowledged .
Great view, delicious meal and a really good and responsive wait staff. We’ll be coming back.
The menu has changed and they no longer have good choices for fish dishes. New to have salmon as an option
The restaurant was crowded and extremely noisy.
The server was very good, friendly and attentive. However, the food was mediocre.
The appetizer sampler was mostly awful. The poki was good, but everything else was tasteless, and beef was tough and stringy.
The Chilean sea bass wasn’t fresh. The texture and taste were off. The mahi mahi was a bit dry, although the sauce was tangy.
Finally, the Mai Tai’s also were bland.
I would not recommend this restaurant, despite its location and view.
Mai tais are great but the food in general is just ok. Better to go to a local Hawaiian restaurant for food.
Valentine’s Day dinner here was great, our hostess and server were super friendly and the food was satisfying as always. Great views great vibes.
Always enjoy this place. The view is nice service is great. Overall a great date night.
We had a great time but our waiter seemed like he didn't wanna be there and it showed.
I used OpenTable for dinner reservation and it worked perfectly. The restaurant atmosphere was excellent and the food was great. We got a perfect table sitting next to a large window with a marvelous view of the San Diego Bay.
Great food, amazing views and wonderful service.
Extra noisy this time. Excellent service. Disappointed no lobster claws though. Was looking forward to that.
Awesome brunch and service!
Great Buffett and view! Friendly staff!
Underwhelmed by the experience. Took several people for a birthday celebration. Made reservations over a month ago. Reserved a table for 6. Got to the restaurant and had to wait. That was fine. When we were seated, we were taken to a table for for 4, not 6. Told to go back and wait again. Sit down. Only given one drink menu for 6 people. Server comes for our drink order but half the groups hasn't had time to look over menu. Ok. No big deal there. Takes what seems like forever between 1st drink request for server to come back again. We go to order appetizers. Half of we ask for is no longer available. It is 8pm. Then we order food. Takes about 40 min for food to come out and I think that is only because when server finally did come back around he asked if there was anything else he could get us and I said, 'dinner'. Between apps and dinner he didn't come back around. One person from the group was headed to the bar to order their own drink as we hadn't seen the server for quite some time. Two of didn't eat the food. It was pretty bland, and for the cost, not worth it. For the birthday celebrant, they were brought a piece of cheesecake by the server only, even though we had seen other tables where all the servers gathered round to sing to the birthday patron. Restaurant was very loud. Just didn't feel like a celebration at all. Not a good experience overall. Only highlight of the night was the Pele's Relief and the Bali Hai coffee.
one of our favorite places to take visitors. Good food and ambiance.
New to the area and figuring out the food scene, but this seems like a must. Great view of downtown and the harbor. Food was tasty and service was very attentive. Price is to be expected given its seafood. All-in-all great experience.
Our appetizers were amazing and delicious. Once we ordered dinner we waited SO long for our food to arrive. And the dinner meals were bleh, a miss for us. Our server was sweet but the overall experience was sub par. We won’t be back for dinner. Maybe just for apps or lunch.
Great food, great service, outstanding view.
The restaurant was very LOUD😰 could not talk to people at my table😢. Disappointed in the menu selections.
Ambiance was amazing. Service was below average, and food was not worth the price. Maybe a good spot for drinks?
The most beautiful restaurant! Drinks are heavy. Beautiful music being played in the lounge. Will be out for to place to bring our visitors.
They are amazing!!! Had a small problem with a guy from the table behind us but they quickly resolved it and we had an amazing night!
The Bali Hai is always an excellent choice. Be sure to make a reservation, because it's popular and you may end up waiting for a table for quite a while without one. The food is creative without being bizarre, and it always tastes great.
The the only downside is how loud it gets in here.
Tip: be sure to request a table by the windo go at sunset - the view is one of the best in town.
Nice place to enjoy dinner
It was good as far as the ambiance but the food was normal. My fish was not good but my wife’s chicken was really tasty. Next time I will stick to the chicken, beef or pork. The drinks were just alcohol no juice. When I think tropical, I think juice, refreshing with a enough alcohol to taste. The drinks are alcohol with a pineapple in it.
Food and service were great, but it was too loud for the four of us to talk comfortably.
Our waiter provided fantastic recommendations and we had an amazing dinner. We will definitely recommend to any of our tiki friends
Wonderful view. Great waiter. Amazing drinks. Good food. We had an excellent time
We always enjoy our meal there. Nice waiter, good food.
Great view and service was good but the calamari was really fishy tasting and the lobster tacos didn't taste like lobster was in the fried pieces. They did not seem to care about my complaint of the calamari. I had really looked forward to taking my bf there for his first time and was very disappointed.
Wow this place was wonderful the service was amazing from the start! Paige answered my call and took us in last minute on restaurant week on a Sunday at 8:00 🕗 pm even found a window seat! The view is the best and the food was good for the price! Can’t get a better deal for restaurant week and everything came out perfect our server was excellent and we will return!
Best, most fun brunch, anywhere in San Diego.
On the bay. Restaurant is old style Hawaiian, but ultra nice. Perfect setting, service is great, food is fresh and good.
No negatives whatsoever!!
Food and staff were exceptional. Atmosphere was too loud, way too loud. Poor acoustics. Was there 6:30pm to after 10pm for restaurant week. Was loud with 1-2 open tables in the lounge and 2-3 open in restaurant. Was also same level of loudness with 1/3 open tables in the restaurant and only 3 lounge tables in use.
Everything overall was great my only issue was it was really loud there.
