Best meal I’ve ever had!! Our first visit of many many more.
The service was incredible. The food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. I highly recommend the Korean BBQ octopus and the briscuit. What a great ambiance and atmosphere.
I liked the relaxed feel of this restaurant. The steak was superb. Will definitely come back to try more dishes.
We lived our experience here. The restaurant decor was beautiful and the food was delicious. I had the elk tenderloin and it was fantastic. The sides were flavorful and creative. We definitely plan to visit again soon.
This was our first visit to Bald Head Bistro. We shared the Game Platter and added a 2 oz portion of Elk. We also added a side of brussels sprouts and mushrooms. The quail was tasty but mostly breading, the venison chop was tasty as was the Elk but it had a bit of gristle. The portion of meat for the price was quite small. We wanted so badly to like this place but we could not dig out from under all of the salt. The service (Liz) was fantastic as was the wine list but they weren't terribly knowledgable of the wines they were selling.
Great meal and great service. Drinks were wonderful as well.
Enjoyed everything about our dinner. The food was good. The service was better. The menu is eclectic but unfortunately some of the items are not available. Hopefully this will change over time but this is the second time we've visited where not all items were available for ordering.
Great salads to start! Roasted brussel sprout salad was incredible! My husband loved the chopped salad and had pizza. I had the mixed game, good but belly pork a little smoky for me, but duck fat fries great. We shared a cherry truffle dessert! OMG, rich chocolate cake layered with tart cherries and whipped cream in a mason jar. Wasn't hungry before the first bite but that didn't stop me. I was still stuffed 5 hours later and had no regrets!
Worst experience ever here! We drove from Chattanooga passing many good restaurants for our anniversary dinner! First of all they were out of bread, Diet Coke was flat, my tea stayed empty, I ordered a filet and on the menu it says a salad comes with it, online it says “side”, neither came with it, I was told a 6 oz filet came alone. I then asked for Worcestershire sauce, my steak was cold by the time it came. Also, my $9 potato ordered loaded was completely dry and they couldn’t find salt or pepper and another table brought it to me! It was just TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Service totally ruined this special occasion!!!!!!
Enjoy dining here because of the atmosphere and western feel. The selections are usually eclectic with a Wyoming style. I was a little disappointed with the scaled down version of the menu from previous visits, but our selections were enjoyable nonetheless. The service was great and attentive without being annoying. The restaurant seemed warm and stuffy however and coupled with our table location near the kitchen made the overall evening good but not spectacular as we have grown to expect at this establishment.
Another excellent experience at the BHB! We had four people in our party, and everyone enjoyed their meal immensely.
The great food, personal service, and lodge atmosphere combine for both the perfect date night or important business meetings.
The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. And provide just the right amount of attention.
I highly recommend the the BHB!
Consistently good and well priced. The service is always good, too. A pleasantly sophisticated restaurant in a fine dining desert.
First time here. Was blown away by the atmosphere and ambiance. Service was text book perfect. Menu choices were very appealing. The pork belly and Brussels were amazing. The game platter was very interesting and quite appetizing. My draw back tonight, though, was the surf and turf. One of my top five favorite dishes of all time. Tonight? Not so much. Plating seemed very thrown together and the blue crab tasted a bit old. For desserts we had the molten cake and the creme brûlée. Washed down with an Irish coffee. All phenomenal. Very well done.
Great food. Great service - attentive but not overly so. Nice atmosphere.
We went to the bhb for our 10th anniversary planning to really splurge and try the Kobe and wagyu beef steaks. We found both items centered prominently on the menu, but when we ordered we found out both were seasonal items usually only available in the fall. We were disappointed, but figured their other steak selections would be good too. But then our steaks came out charred. The charcoal on the steak was crunchy and overwhelmed the flavor of the steak. We left feeling like we over paid for a sub par steak. We were glad we ordered the baked goat cheese appetizer. It was the highlight of our meal. Service was excellent.
We booked a reservation for Mother’s Day brunch and were very underwhelmed- especially for the price. Last year (2017) the brunch buffet was amazing! This year, the staff seemed unorganized and rushed, the buffet was SMALL, the options were weird. Overall we were really disappointed.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and had reservations at The Bistro. Service was excellent. We had the pork belly and Brussels sprout appetizer which was excellent. For dinner we had the prime filet mignon cooked medium. My steak was just right but unfortunately my husband’s was over cooked and charred on the outside. Overall a nice evening.
Excellent from the moment I pulled up and the aroma hit me to the moment I finished my meal...as usual
Excellent as always, my wife and I love to dine here when just out on a date. Service is amazing as are the eats!
The food and cocktails were not good , we have Been numerous times in the past and have was pleased.
We will not go back, for the $ and quality, we were very disappointed. Our server was very good, but not worth the drive or the $
Dined here for my birthday last weekend. So disappointed! We reserved a table through Open Table and checked the birthday box. Ordered two steaks and salads. The bread used to be fresh, this time it was Sister Shubert rolls. 🤢Salads were ok but sat at the table after I moved them to the side as we ate our entrees. I ordered my steak medium and it came out raw. I cut the steak in half and we asked if it could be fixed. Server brought the same steak back a couple minutes later completely burnt to a crisp. I tried to eat it but it was like pure charcoal. Server brought us our check without offering anything else. We asked if we could see a dessert menu. Husband mentioned ordering since it was my birthday. Server says, “well you should’ve said something!” Yikes. Asked for coffee. Came out luke-warm at best. Dessert came out with both melted ice cream and whipped cream. It was a disaster! I kept thinking it was going to get better. Server offered to take off the steak from our check.
Just not the service I would expect to receive as this has been a great place in the past.
Great food, great service! Perfect portion size and food options.
Service and the quality of the food was good. The noise level was a little high but that was due to another customer. Additional menu items might be a suggestion
Great experience, food was outsdanding. Wait staff was perfect.
The atmosphere at Bald Headed Bistro is understated elegance. We were there celebrating a birthday. Since all in our party were mindful of calories, we each had a simple filet, salad, additional vegetable (broccoli) and a glass of wine. Steaks were perfectly cooked and the salad was rather small but quite tasty. The broccoli was also prepared slightly more tender than al dente and was plentiful, which was a good thing since each serving was an additional $9.
WE DO HAVE ONE COMPLAINT: The general restaurant LIGHTING WAS TOO LOW. We found it difficult to see each other comfortably let alone read the menu items. We are each mature adults BUT not that old. Not sure why the restaurant had such low lighting but it made it nearly impossible to appreciate the really otherwise lovely decor. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves and for a special occasion, the Bald Headed Bistro is a winner.
This was our first time to eat here. We enjoyed all the food.
The Deer tenderloin was amazing. The BHB truffles were the best.
Will be returning.
As always the atmosphere is wonderful. We were celebrating a late Valentines Day Dinner as my husband had been out of town on the actual holiday. We were presently surprised that they were still offering the Valentines specials. We started with the Wild Boar Flatbread appetizer and were blown away with the taste; simply amazing and should be a permanent fixture. The dirty martini with hand stuffed blue cheese olives were on point. We decided to indulge and each ordered the Wild Game platter; we were surprised and to be honest disappointed to discover that the majority of the food was french fries cooked in duck fat. The servings of meat were small; and while the duck frites were delicious; I do not prefer for the main course to be over served on the starch and under served the meat. I would not recommend this entree to anyone especially at that price point.
The food was delicious but the service was a bit slow.
Waiter was very good, food was excellent, enjoyed my night, will come back
The food was great and the service was good. My main complaint is that it took an hour to seat us, and we had a reservation.
A great Valentine’s dinner! Although the restaurant was very busy, our food came out quickly and was delicious!!
The gin peppercorn sauce was the perfect accompaniment to my filet.
Overall, an outstanding meal.
Steaks undercooked. Waitress chalked it up to "chef likes to cook them on the low side", which apparently makes up for it?! Everything is way overpriced, I mean, $9 for side of broccoli? If you have money to burn then sure, check it out, otherwise go elsewhere. Food is much better in "lower quality" spots.
Have been their multiple times and the food and the experience are always fantastic. Robert our waiter did a amazing job with everything. Finally, even though it was Valentine's they sat us before our reservation time when we arrived 20-30 min early.
My wife and I are accustomed to fine dining and wonderful service from dining establishments in the N. IL/SE. WI area that we are relocating from and were looking for a nice spot close to our new home in Charleston, TN. The BHB will likely see us again as our local options for such experiences are limited.
We had an excellent meal for Valentine's Day. The food was, as always, Amazing. Who does it better?
Visited many times and always wonderful food, service and atmosphere.
Service was excellent and food was great.
Food and drinks were outstanding and service was better than great.
If you want an excellent steak, cooked to perfection, then BHB is the place you should go to compare to other, less worthy steak establishments. I really like the ambiance, the service and the quality of selection I receive when I go there. I have never failed to impress anyone I have taken here for the first time.
