A laid back Lebanese eatery that gets Stang's stamp of approval. The service is good, people are friendly, and you can eat your face off for about twenty bucks a person.
The messes were delicious and table service was friendly. I recommend for drinks and small appetizers.
Very good food and variety. Fun spot for group dinners. Staff was very helpful. All the food was delicious.
Food was great but they clearly overbook reservations. Two of us showed up at 842 for our 8:45 reservation, the other 2 showed up at about 8:55 which was a bit late but not much and weren’t seated until ~9:25 PM. And there were MANY other parties waiting and then a few left when it was clear there wasn’t going to be tables for a long time. Enjoyed the food but would caution anyone going there not to expect to be seated on time on a weekend.
Order the Mezze and share a bunch of small dishes. Labne, Ful, hummus, and the stuffed grape leaves were a hit.
I've been to Balade a few times now and have taken some picky friends there for dinner...it has always been delicious and has yet to disappoint. The staff is lovely and attentive. It has a true Middle Eastern feel to it, so you can't really rush through dinner...sit back and enjoy!
Good food. Great service. But very loud.
Great food at a reasonable price in a cozy little spot in the East Village.
Excellent service and food. Will be back. The menu is so extensive it was difficult to decide what to eat. Loved it.
Meal was delicious and prices were reasonable. Mid afternoon, it was wonderfully quiet.
There were great options to choose from, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, the server attentive. We came after a movie at Village East Cinema.
We just loved this place. Great atmosphere; friendly and attentive staff and a great selected of delicious and well prepared food. We will always go back when we are in the neighborhood.
Loved my experience at Balade and will definitely be back again!
Delicious dinner with friends! Everything was well prepared and served quickly! My second visit in 3 months, will be going again. Authentic and tasty Lebanese / Mediterrainian food!
This was my first time dining at Ballade and I must say that I was terribly disappointed....and wondering how they managed to get all those "awards", high ratings and attention (hmmm???). And while the service was attentive and their humous and fresh baked mini-pitas were fine, it was downhill after that! The thin, cold and tasteless whole wheat pita slices left much to be desired; the Fatoush salad was awful...wilted lettuce, bitter, unpleasant dressing, no or few cucumbers and tomatoes in sight - I wound up sending it back. Their Fatayir Triangular Style, Stuffed with Chopped Spinach and Feta Cheese had an overdone, very thick, hard pastry shell, and was not very appetizing in any case. I stopped after that!
My friend, on the other hand, enjoyed her meal, so perhaps I did not make the best choices..and might be willing to give them another try...but that said, the "coup de grace", was the feeling of being given the bums rush, with the table being cleared as you finished each last bite, even though there appeared to be no one waiting for a table.
Great and authentic food and wonderful service. Will be back!!! :-)
Best Lebanese food I’ve ever had.
This Lebonese restaurant had been recommended to us by a guy from Lebanon. He thought this restaurant had the best food and boy was he right.
I ordered a glass of Lebonese red wine and was pleasantly surprised to get a very very large glass unlike many restaurants who give you a minuscule amount. I wanted two mezzes: mashed egg plant and sautéed shrimp. They were both delicious. My friends ordered lamb kebab with chared vegetables and rice and both friends raved about the meal. I will get that next time. I ended the meal with Lebonese coffee and here again there was quite a bit given. It was delicious and very generous.
Balade serves excellent Lebanese food. The mezzes were fantastic. The fattoush salad was underwhelming, and I wouldnt order that again, as were the grape leaves. Nice ambiance, good friendly service
Really great Lebanese food! Everything tasted very fresh and flavorful. They have good vegan options too!
Great food! A real discovery in the midst of a massive number of restaurants in the East Village. Wish they had one on the Upper West Side!!
The food here is excellent! I lived in Lebanon and have traveled throughout the Middle East and honestly the food is comparable to excellent food in Lebanon. The quality for the price is fair and it's a great place to go to eat family style! Their hummus and baba ganoush are excellent. We also got their mixed grill. The meat was fresh and delicious. I would also recommend their batata hara (spiced potatoes).
we liked the food very much and the service was very friendly..
the only thing that was somewhat disturbing is that the Toilette is not lockable. Kind of weird!
Other than that a good experience.
Authentic Excellent Lebanese food. And the deserts are to die for.
Bartender was rude and refused to seat us in an area with ample room to even open our silver ware setting. 2 other couples who came after us noticed the lack of space and were upset with the seating arrangement and were granted a move both times. The manager Yusef came out and noticed our uncomfortable seating arrangement, promptly moved us and was AN AMAZING host to us and everyone else. He is genuine and kind, and will be the reason why we will continue to dine here. The food was amazing, waitresses were great.
The best brunch in NYC! Hommus is to die for.
Service staff seemed impatient. We were celebrating a special occasion and we felt rushed. Our total dining experience was over in 40 minutes . This is not the place to go if you want a romantic or quiet experience.
Food was good but could have been served warmer. We sat by the front door so it was a bit cramped and cold from people entering and exiting the restaurant.
Delicious food. Tried many dishes and each one was more interesting than the last.
Everything was delicious. We had a lamb kabob platter and a Schwarma Platter as well as an order of pickled vegetables.
Excellent food. Service was nice and attentive. Place small though so hard for big parties. We were 6 and very cozy.
Traditional Lebanese food, exquisitely prepared and presented. A real find in an unexpected spot.
Great neighborhood spot, food is always good, service is friendly.
Delicious food, friendly service and a cosy atmosphere.
The service and ambiance were good, as was the food. My only criticism is that there were too many French fries relative to protein on the platter we ordered.
Excellent food and service
Staff was very attentive
Good was as authentic as I’ve seen
There are few Lebanese restaurants in NY and this one is worth trying. Very good Lebanese wine (go for the Chateau les Cèdres. Hopefully live music will return on Thursday nights.
What a bummer. We went for my husband’s birthday dinner and were so looking forward to it. First they put us right by the bathroom. Then we waited a god long while for out apps. It turned out they were the best thing bug we couldn’t really enjoy because the main courses arrived almost immediately afterward. They actually pushed an empty table over to us to accommodate all the plates. The main dishes were underwhelming so the whole experience was a let down. There are too many great options in the City to take a chance again at this place.
I order from here at least twice a month. Love Balade. Fresh food. Best Hummus. Friendly staff.
This was our second visit and it was even better than the last. Party of 4, we ordered the mezzi supreme platter and one lamb kebab plate. The mezzi came out in phases which was perfect. Lamb was beautifully seasoned. The manager took great care of us and even sent out a dessert. Will be back again!
Great food, atmosphere, and exceptional service.
