Great service, the server was very kind and knowledgeable about the whole menu. Thank you so much for everything
Great food. Good separation from other guests. Wonderful ambience. Food sequencing was a tad off - dips came but no bread.
Disappointed. Wanted to really like this place. Unfortunately too many misses:
1-No hand sanitizer offered ... after handling menu, not interested in grabbing pita slices with fingers that may be contaminated...
2- main courses brought out when we are still finishing our appetizers
3- mains courses brought out later, where cold and obviously had been sitting for a while
4- food was not vibrant and tasty... missing spices and flavors I expect from middle east.
On the plus side, the server was friendly.
Every piece of food was incredible, BUT...
-Outdoor dining is one of those dining cabins that is essentially indoors but on the street
-inside the cabin was very tight and absolute fire hazard
-No liquor, just wine and beer
Nice place nice food nice staff
Amazing , can’t complain. Love the COVID-19 precautions!!
Great service, delicious food, heating that works!
Dining area is cramped and table is too narrow. Heater wasn’t enough. Food was okay but I think a bit pricey given the ambience. The red wine ( recommended by staff) did not taste good.
Food was amazing!! Everything was absolutely fresh and yum!! We had a great time.
Good food highly recommend
We had walked past Balade a few times back in the pre-covid days and thought 'we should check that place out some time'. And we are so glad that we did! What an all-around lovely evening. The new outdoor dining space is very well laid out, tables are clean and isolated from one another, and the space was comfortably heated even on a chilly Nov night. The menu is extensive and loaded with a nice array of Lebanese-based dishes that all looked so fresh and flavorful that it was hard to choose. Our host and waitstaff were friendly & attentive, and made some excellent recommendations for both wine and entrees. Total neighborhood gem - we'll definitely be back soon.
This restaurant was at 100% capacity and was breaking the COVID guidelines for indoor dining. It is a 700 square foot restaurant with every table filled and not with barriers up between every table. We were literally on top of each other... this was definitely not at 25% capacity like they are supposed to be. Every other restaurant with indoor dining has ample space between tables, but this restaurant was pretending like we were back to normal times...
Very disappointing that this restaurant put my health and the health of everyone else in the restaurant at risk.
The food was delicious but extremely disappointed with how the restaurant is treating COVID.
Good food, busy restaurant so service a bit slow but good, no gluten-free bread and few gluten-free options, but a very nice ambiance especially on the outdoor terrace.
Balade was a great dinner date experience. My boyfriend and I picked a couple of things to share. We choose the appetizer platter which consisted of hummus, grape leaves, Baba ghanoush, and rhakat( so delicious). Then the
Balade Lamb Chops to share. Everything was SO tasty and flavorful and they refilled the pita bread free of charge. The Lebanese house red and white was also very good
We originally reserved to sit outside but we thought the tables were too close( of course NYC space in mind.) Luckily on a Saturday night they were able to accommodate us inside and we felt very safe during these weird COVID times. Noise level was low but nice music overhead while we ate.
I would highly recommend Balade for a date night although we did see a group of about 6 girls and a small family eat as wel
Lots of vegetarian options. The food was very tasty and at a great value .
The food was delicious and the service was amazing! Going back real soon!
The food was DELICIOUS and the service was excellent. Definitely a new go to restaurant for when I'm visiting NYC.
Our party of 4 totally enjoyed every aspect of our dining experience at Balade.
The food was delicious and came out quickly. The portions are awesome. My party arrived on time for our reservation and were sat immediately. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Chicks + Veg and Lentil soup were phenomenal. The hummus and pita bread were DELICIOUS - simple but very well made.
Great wine selection and very great service. Take care of our restauranteurs and servers we need them they make NYC the true melting pot.
We are outside and the food and service was fantastic. It was only when we leaving did I see that the restaurant had put up plastic barriers between tables, but they haven’t done that for and we were less that three feet from the couple beside us...
Great authentic Mediterranean cuisine. Great place for family dinner or a date.
They actually
The service was a tad slow... they were really busy. Our main was forgotten and the arrived cold but they took it back and brought out a new plate without giving a hard time. Food is wonderful. Would definitely go back.
The “shrimp entree” was incredibly overpriced. 6 shrimp on top of a bowl of pita chips with yogurt. How is that an entree? Rest of the food was decent.
Amen our server was fantastic - gave great recommendations and was extremely attentive. Great music and food too!
The service was horrible. We dine at Balade quite often but this time we had the worst experience. I will give zero star for service.
First outdoor dining experience and it was wonderful!
The food was delicious and servers were trying their best to handle covid precautions and outdoor seating. It was a bit loud eating out on such a busy street with pedestrians walking by but overall would definitely recommend and would go back. May try to get a table closer to the street and not on the side walk.
I was having trouble hearing the tunes. Excellent tunes tho
Exceptional. As a Lebanese, I feel very PROUD to have a place like this in the city.
Came here for dinner a few days ago. The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was amazing. We had a few vegetarians in our party and the selection of mezzes was great for them as well. Not much of a dessert person, but even the Mouhallabieh was so delicious, I was scraping the bottom of the dish! Service was fast and attentive. They’ve put up plastic partitions between tables which is also much appreciated. Overall solid place!
Very good despite eating outside & the CO-VID regulations.
Food is extremely meh.
Zaatar fries were totally soggy.
Pita bread was tasteless cardboard. A middle eastern restaurant that cant bake or buy superb pita bread is like an Italian restaurant that cant make a good tomato sauce. Inexcusable.
The grilled vegetables that came with the main were an extremely dumb assortment. Who eats a whole grilled tomato. Gross. Who eats a grilled jalapeno? Inedible. The only thing edible were the onions, and they were barely even grilled.
Rice arrived luke warm instead of piping hot signifying general inattention to detail in their food preparation.
The big issue with this restaurant is that its completely overpriced for its very middling food.
The actual prices are 30% higher than reflected on Opentable and on the restaurant's own website. Restaurant staff explained that prices were raised due to Covid.
Excuse me but its not my problem that the restaurant lost money bc of Covid. Most people in America didnt get a 30% pay raise during Covid, so why it is assumed that I and other average New Yorkers can and should absorb their losses with higher prices? I find this mentality to be highly annoying and tone deaf.
$38 for 4 small, thin lamb chops is insane. That dish should cost $28. There should be 6 thick chops if they are going to charge $38.
Let this restaurant go bankrupt and close. Then a real restaurateur can buy/lease the space for pennies on the dollar and actually have money to spend on decent portion sizes or not be required to over charge by 30%.
Awesome service
Good food! place was a bit too cluttered for me. The wooden chairs are terrible. Every restaurant should prepare for rain so anyone sitting by the open area don’t get splashed. Dessert was great! Really liked the seasoned fries. Staff was somewhat attentive but I chalk it up to adjusting to outside dinning.
Because of COVID, we were sitting outside on the street/under the tent, but our table was at the edge of the tent and water kept falling onto our table from the tent.
Service was terrible and the food wasn’t the best either
The food was good, but overpriced for Mediterranean cuisine. A friend and I split the vegetarian sampler, the falafel was great, but the I didn’t care for the string beans (too oily) and the cheese was very salty. The service was slow, but that’s because there was only one guy running the place, due to the pandemic, I’m sure. Still, I enjoyed my brunch, and I’d go back for the falafel.
Noise level is due to outdoor dining.
Great food, but despite our reservation they made us wait 20 minutes for a table. The same amount of time as walk-ins. What’s the point of a reservation? Also, service was overwhelmed by the crowd and it took another 20 minutes to get a drink. There are like 25000 out of work service employees right now. Hire a couple of them!
