Always a standout.
Don't miss daily evening specials and Sunday brunch.
the brunch is simply amazing. The selection is great. Best French toast in St.louis hands down.
Good news, we serve the same french toast every Sunday! I am glad to hear you had a great experience with us! We hope to see you again soon.
the web site stated 29.99 and they charged 40 for mother day brunch I would not have gone. The price included a drink, but 2 in the party did not drink. overpriced.
Great food. Great service. I had the mushroom pasta. Yum yum.
Although a frequent patron of Balaban’s, this is the first time dining while a wine tasting was simultaneously being conducted in the back room. Resulting in a staffing issue causing several service issues.
Our meal was delicious and the service outstanding. Could not have asked for more
Thank you Beth! We hope to see you again soon!
Wonderful food and service (Amanda) made the gathering of old friends all the better.
We agree, Amanda is fantastic! I am thrilled to here you had a great experience here and we hope to see you again soon!
Easter dinner. Expensive for the quality.
We went for Easter brunch and while the food was generally fine (expect for the stale bagels and runny eggs) , it was extremely overpriced! For forty dollars a person, I expected much more.
Wonderful food at a good price. Tables were a little too close and made it difficult to get in and out. Also, furniture is somewhat banged up, and bathrooms could use a renovation.
We have been to Balaban's several times. We live around the corner. We had reservations for Easter Brunch and was greeted by a grumpy old man who didn't respond to our initial greeting. The restaurant was not slammed so we were confused with is indifferent response. Even though I had reservations, we were seated at the worst table in the restaurant and when we asked to be moved to a window seat our waitress that we were handed over to said the grumpy old man says no. The table that is by the window is reserved. I mentioned several times that we indeed had reservations and would like a different table. Then the waitress says again, that for people with reservations and the circle of non service continued. We walked out in disgust and won't be back. Frustrating, because we love the food, we had our daughters rehearsal dinner there etc. Management needs a friendlier front of house. It could have been so different.
We were there for Easter Sunday brunch. The selection of items were fine and the food very good but I personally felt it was a bit overpriced. We'd never been there before so we'll have to try it on a regular Sunday.
This is a good restaurant but not great. Seems as though they could re-capture the greatness of the old Balabans in CWE if they hired a person to re-merchandise the look, hired a new chef and amped up their game a bit.
Relaxed atmosphere, food was good but not outstanding. Service staff very pleasant but a bit spacey and disorganized. Really appreciate their option to buy retail wine and use the $8 corkage fee. We usually don’t have good wine when out for dinner and the table shared two great bottles here due to their reasonable policy.
Awesome dinner, service great as well. Grill special is a nice weekday special.
Birthday and Morel mushrooms
Jasmin took great care of us as usual and the Morel pasta was perfect. one of my favorite dishes!
Our group of eight had the wine cellar. Great food and ambiance. Wonderful place and we go there quite frequently.
The special with the morel mushrooms was outstanding, maybe the best entree I’ve had there (and I’ve had a lot of great ones).
Still one of my favorite restaurants. Though no longer in the CWE, the quality remains consistent. I had the morel mushroom pasta and is as delicious as I remember from years ago! Next trip will be the Beef Wellington again.
Our waitress was perfect. She choose the perfect red Cab for me, was war, & nice. The salads were fresh and the fish flavourful but the strip steak was terrible. Instead of cooked M it was grey & well done. It dId not have a good flavor either. I will go back just not for a steak.
The paella was very good but the trout pancake and shrimp appetizers were amazing
Having dinner in the wine room was a treat. Food was excellent. well priced great service.
Monday balabargains is a great way to have really good food and wine with no corkeragefee
We attended a wine tasting French and Italian. Appetizers were unusual and perfect. The wines selected were outstanding The two experts were the best in STL John Gazzoli excelled as expected. Wonderful evening
Very good value for three courses and no corkage fee.
Good was excellent, the server was outstanding, contentious was didn't hover, the casual ambience was what we wanted. Ourall, we had a superb anniversary meal.
We came for the Morel Pasta and it did not disappoint. Jasmin was the perfect waiter. We'll be back soon!
We always look forward to the morel mushroom pasta dish that Balaban’s offers during the spring. We we’re not disappointed this year, the dish was excellent !! However we think the $30.00 price tag is high. We had guest from Kansas City in and my buddy ordered the steal special. The steak was not that good and certainly was not worth $40.00. Everything else was excellent, we had real good service and good wine. We will continue to go to Balaban’s it just a classy place & a fun place to have wine.
This was our first time at Balaban's. It was delicious! We will definitely go back.
Our server Jasmine is excellent as always.
Small and intimate. Food was very good. Very good wine list and retail wine store.
Minimal service staff. Food was okay, but not spectacular. Took 15 minutes or more to get our drink order in......ordered food at the same time because of the delay and movie time pending. Wasn’t that busy when we arrived, but became busier quickly. Clearly need another server on a Friday evening.
Great food and service
The food was delicious. We loved the wine. I like the idea of small plates to share.
Happy Hour is a great value for meeting a couple of colleagues and making it affordable.
Great service and the food is AMAZING. We have eaten here twice now and can't wait to go back.
Much enjoyed the Orin Swift wine dinner. The menu was quite good, food was well prepared and nicely presented. Always a pleasure to dine and add something to my knowledge of wines. Kudos to Jasmine.
Love love this restaurant. The wine selection is great and very reasonable, the food is always great, especially the seafood specials and fresh veggies, and their servers are very attentive and thorough, especially Jasmine. This is not a place to just drive by!!! xoxo
Table was too small for 3 and in a high traffic area. This place is good on a week night but they can’t seem to handle a heavy crowd.
