Bake's Place Ratings and Reviews
Service was poor. One entree came out 10 minutes before the others. Food was okay, but not great and the appetizer was awful. We didn't eat it and when the server took away, we mentioned that we did not like it and he just snorted. Chef tries to be too creative, pairing shishito peppers with aioli and fish flakes, and dousing a hanger steak with balsamic. We asked that no sauce be put on hamburger, and it came slabbed with mayo and mustard. Music was fair. Not sure we'll go back.
Andy Stokes was terrific! Excellent soul musician with a jazz twist - great for both dancing and listening. Show was sold OUT but food was very tasty with ample portions. I had a pork chop that looked more like a roast! Service was passable, but understandable with such a large crowd. We sat in the balcony which is a great find for folks who want to view from above and attempt limited conversation. Will definitely return to Bake's whenever we visit Bellevue!
Contrary to other reviews, I found the servers to be very attentive. The food was good and served in a timely manner. The sound was great and Nearly Dan was outstanding.
The evening resulted in a couple of new Nearly Dan fans and all four of us are new Bake's Place
We commend this place on its efforts to bring live music to Bellevue. Interesting selection of bands that are fun to listen to. The problem with this place is the food. Strange menu with lots of pitfalls. Items can be too salty or poorly prepared and often poorly conceived. We had experience with chicken pieces that were so salty that they were inedible.
The service is relatively poor, as I am sure they struggle finding talent in this area. Once the bands start playing, it is hard to order or be heard, leading to errors in service and such.
Honestly, they need serious help revamping the menu and running the kitchen and service staff professionally. They could double their business if they do that.
We went for a get together, waiting for a server for a very long time. Came with drinks about 15 minutes later and than as we watched everyone around us getting waited on and served we had not even talked to our server. After being finally served my dinner was forgotten. I will never return.
Great music and service. Menu is too short. I ordered a large dish and my husband a small. I just got off work and was famished. Yet he had way more food than I did. Only vegetarian option was the risotto, or fries which was ok but I'm over risotto as the only option especially in this area, come on guys. Would love to come back, hopefully they work on that.
4th of July special event with BBQ buffet and Ventura Highway Revisited for live music...delightful evening. The buffet was outstanding, with excellent BBQ ribs and chicken, corn on the cob, salads, veggie skewers, and strawberry shortcake for desert. The music was on the patio and was wonderfully produced - perfect level, balanced for the space, and just plain fun. These folks really know how to showcase good music - love it!
Typically, the food and service is pretty good at Bake's but Saturday evening, the service was slow and inconsistent. We sat out on the patio and it took quite a while for a server to check on us, in fact, we had to flag someone down. When our food finally arrived, we had to ask for napkins and utensils. Things seemed a little discombobulated.
Great place for groups to get together since most of their plates work well to share. Roasted pepper appetizer was really tasty and the grilled octopus was outstanding. Food comes out of the kitchen as dishes are done so even the dinner entrees work better if you're sharing plates.
We have been here a few times to watch shows and each time the decor is fabulous, the staff are friendly and ambiance is great. Again however, each time the food is cool not hot when it arrives and it always takes way too long to get to our table. Since each time we have been to an event at your place, it seems that getting the staff more organized for the expected crowd would help. We observed 6 staff standing around while our poor waitress "ran" around to get water, drinks etc. which I am assuming others could have helped with. I worked for two chefs in my lifetime and three things were always a priority; 1) Presentation 2) Timing, food delivered to the table at appropriate temps for the Entree served 3) Get it right the first time!! They never wanted food returned for "Not as I ordered". I will come again, but I am hopeful that our food experience is a better one, something that matches your many other awesome features of this fine restaurant.
My date and I had a great time. Ventura Revisited was a great band! There were three couples dancing among the tables. It would have been nice to have a small Dance floor . The food was terrific! My date couldn't stop raving about how good about how delicious it was. Unfortunately Axel wasn't very attentive and I spent considerable time trying to catch his attention.
I was with a large vibrant group fir the Motown night. The cover was $21 but we were allowed to stay for both sets. I was at the bar and had excellent service. There was no dance floor but we danced in the aisles and had a great time. The large plates were pricey and my cocktail was tasty but skimpy for $12. In short, not a place I can afford on a regular basis but with my fun-loving group, wouldn't have missed it
My husband and I went to see Kalimba here last Saturday. We had terrific seats right up front next to the stage! We ordered food, and it arrived while the show was going on, which made it difficult to eat. We were enjoying the band and loved the music!
The food itself left a lot to be desired. I had Caesar salad with chicken. When it arrived, the chicken was placed on the side, and it was extremely salty! The salad had way too much dressing, which was heavily covered with garlic. It was impossible to eat it, as it was quite overwhelming. The music was too loud to be able to let the wait staff know about it. My husband had the rigatoni. He's of Italian descent, and he didn't finish it--saying it wasn't good.
Drinks were good. I had a Moscow Mule, and he had bourbon.
I love this venue and have been here many times over the last few years; however, this was the first time I recall the food being of this poor quality. For the price, I expect much better!
