The restaurant upstairs is fantastic! The ambience is great with a waterfall wall, fun, comfortable seating, and a quiet atmosphere. Our server was attentive, made great recommendations and was very nice. Great experience for sure!
Great Tapas and service. Reasonable price. Seafood amazing, sushi imaginative, needs better wine list, but they are working on it.
My friend and I were pleasantly surprised as it was our first visit to this restaurant. We sat outside, could only hear the waterfall wall and could see a partial view of the mountains. Our server was wonderful - friendly and helpful. The food was good although we only went for Happy Hour so we had puupuus. They were tasty. Strawberry mojito was great. I would recommend to friends and even think about having an event there - outside.
We were there for happy hour and dinner for a party of 7. Service and the food took a long time. It was not that busy and it took us 2 hours to receive all the food we ordered. The servers did minimum and did not keep us informed of why the food was taking so long. The servers seems disorganized. They kept bring us other parties food. The food was very tasty, with the exception of the katsu curry, which had cheese and basil on it that did not match.
Sorry, the Sunday brunch was not great. Spaghetti salads were decent, prime rib tough. French toast was terrible. I was embarrassed as my guests were friends from the mainland and I was treating them to "something new". Ambiance of dining was shallow. I didn't know there was only a lunch buffet instead of ordering from the menu, but it was too late to change locations since I had arranged to meet my guests there. Very disappointing.
However, bakery products were great!
This was my third dining experience at this restaurant since January 2017. My husband selected Bakery & Table to celebrate his birthday after a recent Sunday brunch. Disappointing does not even begin to describe our dining experience. The wait staff were attentive and accommodating throughout dinner, and the issues presented were well beyond their control.
It was a very enjoyable evening with friends. The food was delicious and the ambiance was great.
Bakery downstairs looked good . Sunday "buffet" very disappointing and not worth $23. Nothing special and food looked like it was sitting out for a long time.
Stick with just the Bakery.
I feel sorry for the chef. The food was fine. Everything else was terrible. It was like a casual picnic but with bad service. The service downstairs is so much better that I would recommend having lunch in the bakery and not in the restaurant.
We went to the restaurant for a special occasion and the service was marginal, at best. The wait staff was polite, but the food was very slow in arriving. We waited over ONE hour to get our salad. By the time the food arrived, it was only lukewarm...taste was pretty good, but it seems that the kitchen must not be able to handle the limited number patrons. We really wanted to like the restaurant and it was our third...and FINAL...visit. We won't be returning.
Service was horrible. One entree was overdone the other was cold. No one bothered to check to see how our food was. Instead of waiting even longer we opted to take it home.
A little slow, but well worth the wait. I'm glad we came for Valentine's! Food was delicious!
Upon arrival, parking lot was half filled. As we walked to the entrance the windows were tinted and the downstairs remained empty and barron. I immediately thought that the restaurant was closed for business. I was confused. We opened the door and expected to be greeted by a host but there was none. After a few seconds, we noticed some activity upstairs and found our way to the stairs. A welcoming males voice was heard coming from the top of the stairs. We couldnt see him yet and did not know what he said. Upon confirming our reservations, we were seated on the terrace near the water and fire wall (as requested). Our host doubled as our waiter. He was friendly and helpful. We were offered a prix fixe 4 course meal with a wine paring. Dinner was excellent. Taste and portions on point. Ambience and decor wonderful. I expected the waiter to be more attentive to details, as you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber, explaining what was being served, etc. This however did not break the great dining experience. After dinner we had the opportunity to walk throughout the restaurant. The layout and space is great for dinner and entertaining. Should they tighten up some of the details I mentioned, Bakery & Table could be a top pick in Honolulu. I'll return and recommend it to friends.
This place has a great upstairs outdoor dinning terrace. Everyone who goes there for dinner has the same experience. Great outdoor nighttime experience but the SLOWEST service on the island. We have been there twice this month with friends from out of the country. We are so embarrassed we took them there. Our friends, of course love the outdoor Hawaiian night time air and did not want to say anything but it took 90 minutes (ordered at 730 pm, pupus and salads served 9 pm, entrees came out at 9:45pm) to get our salads on both occasions and entrees came out a different times. On both occasions members were done with their meals before the final entree was served. We insisted that everyone start because their food would get cold before we were all served.
The female bartender and manager seemed concerned but I guess they cant do anything about the kitchen. They must have apologized a dozen times and they both agreed that the speed of service is horrendous. I offered to plate the salad myself. I want to like this place but I suggest you just go to the downstairs bakery for breakfast or lunch until you read consistent reviews on speed of service from the night time dining side.
Had Brunch. The Chicken Katsu was under-cooked and my wife's omelette was completely liquid inside. Onion soup was really good... they did comp the omelette but both entrees were a miss.
Nice atmosphere, mediocre food, lousy service! Not a great experience at all!!
Such a pretty use of space. We had a sandwich , salad and fries and was very good. Friendly staff. I would definately come here again.
They have changed their chef recently and unfortunately not for the better. Food and service was great when we went about 3 months ago, not so much now! Too bad! I won't be eating there again!
Be sure to update menu and prices. I came to the restaurant because I was interested in great prices and great food. But come to find out when we ordered, our waitress said the online menu was out of date and prices were different. False advertisement! Otherwise everything was great.
Bakery and Table was an interesting restaurant. The outside dining was romantic with a waterfall wall. The menu selection was limited. The service was great, however the food took a while to come out. This is a good place to eat if you do not have an empty stomach because you may get frustrated waiting for the delicious food to arrive.
I really enjoyed the mentaiko pasta and the B&T mule.
The food quality could have been better. The food did not seen fresh at all when it got to the table. The filet minion that was part of the set menu was really good however it was not hot when it arrived. Also the appetizers were very pre made type and seemed dry from being refrigerated. Expected alot more especially hearing that the owners are from Japan and i've eaten at many restaurants in Japan and everything is usually excellent and served almost to perfection.
We had been here before and had a good experience . This experience was disappointing. The service was slow. The steak was Luke warm. The entries were way to spaced out. The food quality was mediocre at best.
I've been to Bakery & Table about a half-dozen times. One time was a disaster due to mechanical problems and being under-staffed - but otherwise it's been terrific. The food is excellent and the service has always been impeccable - even the night of the disaster! The latest time was for New Year's Eve and we enjoyed the fixed-price menu that was special for the evening. Many thanks to the staff at B&T for their attentive service.
The food was good but the service is SUPER SLOW - Terrible.
The place was pretty empty for a Friday night. Our waiter was great, and the following was probably out of his control:
Food and drinks were served slowly, wine we selected wasn't available (weren't told til much later), and even our take-home containers were given to us piecemeal, and one was for soup and another we got eventually was for pastries, tho we just needed something for a leftover meal.
Three in our party ordered the prime rib small plate, which turned out to be a complete meal that included roasted veggies and potatoes! Another ordered the mentaiko pasta, which was also delish.
Again, our waiter was very gracious, and when we mentioned were celebrating a birthday, we (slowly) received a beautifully-presented complimentary dessert and mint tea that we all shared!
While our server was sweet and informative, he might have been a bit too busy as we were looking for him a few times throughout dinner. In his defense, we had a large table of 9. Overall the food was good. A touch higher priced than it could have been. The patio is extremely pleasant and laid back.
Valet parking is a nice touch. We had 5:45 pm reservations and was disappointed the bakery portion was stripped down already. Only a dozen pastries already pre-selected in a box were available. The terrace next to the waterfall is the best place to eat. Don't get too close cause the water noise makes it hard to talk. On a nice night, close the umbrella and dine under the stars. Service is a tad uneven but get an "e" for effort. Drinks sounded great but tasted uninspired. Beautifully served but too way to long to finally arrive. Food is good but not great. The Mentaiko makes you look like you have blacken teeth so don't order that for a first date or with other people. The oysters Rockefeller was one of the better dishes. Flaming presentation and tasted great. The other entrees were good but not like you were eating at Alan Wong's or someplace special. The bread pudding dessert was special in presentation but otherwise tasted just okay. The rest was creme brûlée, gelato and two types of sorbet. A really nice cheesecake would have rounded out the list a lot better. There is a bakery downstairs, why not showcase really fancy dessert from there so diners get an idea what the place can do? Specialty desserts by your own pastry chef. What a concept!! Overall a pleasant place to eat but needs to tighten up in all quadrants to make it a special place to dine.
Met two girlfriends here for lunch. Our first time. Good variety on the menu from brunch to lunch. Excellent service, friendly and attentive. Comfortable atmosphere, not loud or noisy, was able to carry on a conversation without talking loud. Looking forward to going back again.
Food was ok. Short ribs were tender, dry and cold. The accompanying sauce and bed of mash potatoes, mushroom and spinach? were better and at a warmer temperature.
Nice ambiance outside kind of like a neighbor island resort.
I would probably come back for the baked goods.
It's ok... venue great, service and food mediocre. Parking is a bit of an issue as well
I have been here many times and every time the spaghetti is getting more and more soggy, spaghetti carbonara is more like ramen with soup. And I did told the server that I don't want it too soggy, and all he can do was put the egg on the side. If your chef don't know what spaghetti carbonara should look and taste like, go try it somewhere else and compare.
Too bad cause when they first open, food was very good and they had one of the best carbonara in town. That chef must have gone elsewhere. The worst thing is how many times I leave comment with no improvement. Won't go back again. Too bad cause their bakery downstairs is very good.
Loved the look of the 2nd floor and outside deck.
Would have liked to see more choices for pizza toppings as the only protein was chicken.
The bakery downstairs has nice some interesting breads. Was pleasantly surprised to see a fruit sandwich - I will come back for that and a coffee one day.
There was a large party (10 people) sitting nearby us and they were laughing and carrying on loudly. We sat indoors because it was rainy outside. Noisy inside if full house. Menu primarily Italian. Good food. 2nd time for us.
I honestly was a little skeptical since reviews are not that great, but the menu looked interesting and I wanted to check it out anyway. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was not very crowded which surprised us. This place is quite the gem! Very reasonable for the type of food served. We were impressed with their oxtail osso buco, flatbread pizza, pork belly, seafood pasta and desserts!! I would have given this restaurant the maximum rating, but they need to work on the tenderness of their calamari (little too chewy for us). Overall, it's a great place and I would definitely like to dine there again; next time to check out their awesome patio area.
The service was great (thanks Andie), the food came out fast, & most importantly the food was delicious! The bday celebrant even got a free dessert. The bread pudding was definitely a show stopper! And parking was easy since their garage wasn't full.
We had a last minute family lunch here and we all enjoyed!! The ambiance was nice and casual. The food was good but was not overly impressive. I did not indulge in the delectable looking pastries on display during my visit but I will be sure to do so on my next visit.
great food. beet salad and mentaiko pasta so yummy. everyone was so friendly
Classic French onion soup tasted like curry. It wasn't a super bad flavor but definitely not "classic". The bread was a bit old. Sad to find out that our croque monsieur price upstairs was $8 more than downstairs! Asked why such a steep price difference and was told "upstairs uses thicker cut of bread" when I asked him to show me what they use downstairs, I was shocked that it was the same bread! A manager came by asking (in Japanese) the staff to return to the counter then turning to me and saying "what do you want?" I was quick to reply back to him in Japanese. He looked very shocked. I explained why I was upset and he just stood there. He attempted nothing to keep me as a customer. I love bread! But sadly I'm soured by my experience here. Will not return and will recommend others not to visit. If they do... dine only downstairs and avoid the thin tall Japanese man in the white shirt! I normally don't write bad reviews... I try to see things as a learning opportunity, so I invite management (and the tall thin Japanese man in the white shirt) to start a dialog with me.
Went there for lunch, when we first arrived there was no parking probably because there were only 9 stalls so we drive a little further down and found street meter parking that was metered for only 1 hour. So we went in and the wait staff was very friendly, food took 45 minutes to come out and when it did it was room temperature, the flavor was good but when you eat food that was suppose to be hot at room temperature it makes it a little unpleasant to eat. On top of all that the one hour meter parking ran out of time so one of us had to run down the street to feed the 1 hour parking meter which kind of made the whole experience worse.
