Really good, classic bistro food such as you find in neighborhood restaurants in Paris. Small, friendly, personal. I gave 5 stars not because it's high-end gourmet food, but because it does an excellent job at being what it claims to be--authentic, traditional French food. You can get your onion soup, snails, mussels, steak frites, boeuf bourgignon, duck à l'orange, etc.; have crème brulée, chocolate mousse, profiteroles, tarte tatin, isle flotant for dessert, maybe with an espresso chaser, and go away happy. Salads are tasty and generous and not just plain green; e.g., they do one with warm goat cheese and a really interesting one called "southwest," and they don't mean New Mexico; it comes with smoked duck breast and paté. The bar is not extensive (no campari the night we were there) but the wine list is solid.

A real neighborhood gem with a great $25 3-course prix fixe. Love their french fries and the strawberry balsamic dessert. Will be back for sure!

I have been bringing friends over the years to introduce them to this restaurant. The service is impeccable, the food is always excellent, and consistently prepared with great care. The prices for a French restaurant are more than reasonable and there are 3 or 4 specials on top of the regular menu.
I enjoyed sharing the dishes from my country of origin. It is the only place I know that serves Ile flottante as a dessert, a dish my grand mother was making me when I was a child.

We returned from Paris earlier this week; still tired from our trip, decided not to cook and popped over to Baker Street Bistro (BSB) for San Francisco’s version of the food we’d been eating for the past couple of weeks. The food at BSB was fantastic, service prompt, atmosphere relaxed and the cost very reasonable. If the wine were a bit cheaper I’d say the most restaurants in Paris had nothing on BSB.

Went there before the Symphony. Our reservation was for when they opened at 5:30, so we were the first customers. Nice menu, delicious duck, attentive service. I was expecting difficult parking, but we were able to park two blocks away on the street. I’d go again in a heartbeat.

We have eaten at Backer Street Bistro two times and were impressed by the menu selection ambience, and service. It reminded us of an authentic French bistro. Neighborhood location. No problem parking on Friday night. Reservations were at a peak time and made four hours earlier.

What a disappointment. I have been going there for years and this time everything was not up to par. Something was wrong. The chicken salads were most disappointing. I felt the chicken was frozen and prepared the day before. I will give them one more chance.

We had a delicious dinner here before attending a show at the Palace of Fine Arts. The Baker Street Bistro has been in business for at least 28 years in the Marina, so they are doing something right! Very French, cosy and delicious food. Staff was very nice. \

This was a one of kind restaurant tucked into the neighborhood just outside the Presidio. All French, including the wines. The French-onion soup was excellent. I had the Boeuf Bourguignon and my companion had the Saumon Rôti. Both were delicious. We came on a special occasion after attending a performance at the Palace of Fine Arts which is an easy 4 block walk away. And there is good parking in the old Letterman Hosp underground garage just 2 blocks away, if you don't want to risk getting your car dinged in tight street parking. This was a unique and enjoyable dining experience, which we recommend.

Dishes were good and generous. Some were more visually attractive than tasty: scallops. The accompanying sauces weren't as tasteful as expected but pretty to look at.

Bread was somewhat stale. Outside tables were tilted. Outstanding Lamb Chops. Good location for North Bay people coming in to SF for Theater/Concerts - can stop right after bridge, and have an early dinner while downtown SF traffic lessens

mashed carrots,a cassoulet to die for with duck confit. Salad with warm goat cheese. Best desserts !

Did not live up to the Check Please reviews. Did not have a romantic ambiance and the food was just slightly above average. The French onion soup was excellent but the escargot was bland as were the mussels. All-in-all not worth returning.

We got there at 7:30 and while it wasn't very busy they had sold out of the prix fixe meal which we were planning on. Apparently they have a limited number of those each night so if that is your plan, go early.

The duck confit was very good though for the price, getting one leg seemed a little short, but, I did not leave hungry. My wife got the chicken breast in a ginger sauce which was surprisingly very high on the ginger flavor and very tasty!

Service was attentive and the food came out quickly. Wine by the glass selection was fine.

My wife and I love French bistro food and we have been sampling the options in the SF Bay Area since moving here a year ago. For our anniversary dinner (36 years and hundreds of restaurants) we chose Baker Street Bistro. Many years ago I spent time in Toulouse business and became very acquainted, indeed, fell in love with, duck, second only to my wife, naturally. Our meal here included the very best cassoulet I have tasted outside Toulouse. I could stop right here, but I won't. The confit ordered by my wife was superb. Our appetizer of moules Provençal was very generous and a delight. Service, superb. Have a Kir Royale and toast your luck at finding one of the very best French bistros within hundreds of miles. We will definitely go back.

Being a former College Culinary professor I was disappointed with this restaurant. I think the real Chef was not cooking but a young inexperienced substitute (It was a Sunday night, I guess an experienced chef needs a night off but it was at our expense $$$$). Our meals (4) took a long time to come. While the people around us who came after us, were served first. My Bouillabaisse was pre-made (one scallop, very small shrimp) . My friend's Duck "a"la Orange was way too sweet, she only took one bite. The waitress would not accommodate my Vegan friend or make suggestions other than a green salad from the menu. They certainly had vegetables along with potatoes in the kitchen that they could of put together on a plate. When we asked if they could make a Vegetable Risotto without cream the waitress firmly said NO! She said NO! to everything we suggested for our Vegan friend, down to the desserts. I guess if you are Vegan you better not go there unless you just want salad. The fresh Mussels were excellent. The desserts were okay except for the Floating Island's meringue was old, cut from a pre-made meringue (Meringue wrinkles on top when old). None of us complained, we are too classy for that and we already knew the waitress really didn't care how are food was. I must say she was the best phony waitress I have met in a long time. We still tipped her 20%, but never going back or recommending Baker Street Grill. So disappointing since it was recommended so highly. Maybe it was because the real chef was not there???????????????? Who Knows?

Enjoyed it years ago. Not so much now. Onion soup was still good but mussels had way too much pesto & tomatoes and not enough garlic. Risotto was practically inedible -- seasoning was so heavy handed that rice was completely overpowered.
