I felt sorry for the waitress too many tables for one person.
This was a great find, not a very big place we had a reservation and got there early, we were prepared to wait but there was a table outside the server asked us if we wanted it.
The service was exceptional with a perfect timing between courses.
We started with a nice bottle of French wine and the charcuterie plate.
Then we shared the mussels which an order were enough for two people and to finish we had the profiteroles with port.
Great value for money with fresh food and a great service, will definitely return again what a find.
Really good, classic French bistro food. Took 2 foodie friends, their first time here; they loved it. Dishes we had: canard à l'orange (duck), coquilles St Jacques (scallops), bourride provençale (seafood stew)--all great. Servers are pleasant and efficient and will graciously let you try your French.
Baker Street Bistro is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. Doriane and Chantel are fabulous waitresses. It feels like eating with friends. It is authentically French in a down home way. There are two excellent preparations of mussels and good charcuterie and cheeses and much more. I feel comfortable eating there on my own or with a friend for lunch or with a small group for dinner. It's a comfortable, cozy place.
Very disappointed with all the great reviews. Chicken overcooked, scallops sauce very little flavor, beef bourignon sweet not a good red wine. A little tired interior. Must say the French onion soup was very good.
This place has been around for quite a few years and remains true to what it set out to be: an authentic Paris bistro transplanted to San Francisco. Excellent!
Great lunch menu, fresh ingredients skillfully prepared. Anything seafood is a definite winner
Don't let the looks deceive you. What it lacks in first impressions it makes up in food quality. Good sized servings as well. My only complaints would be no full bar and limited beer selection. No beer on draft. It's small...fills up fast...so reservations recommended.
I very much enjoy this place. The food and service are excellent. Wish they would improve their wine by the glass selection and quality. However, this is still a "go to place" for wonderful French cuisine.
Fun local bistro - excellent food, but too small and lack of distance from other patrons a real drag.
A great authentic French bistro. It felt like we were back in Paris. Loved it and will go back; well worth the trek from Berkeley.
I had a Wonderful dinner by myself with a fantastic staff that made me feel right at home.
Authentic French Bistro cuisine in cozy setting. Great service. Can count on traditional dishes.
It was delicious food and very nice staff
Nice ambiance. Fish stew was excellent.
We have always loved Baker's Street Bistro but our last visit there on Friday night was superb. They really outdid themselves on every item. I had the fish stew and it was really incredible. I couldn't finish it all, either. One friend's cassoulet was superb, another friend had the salmon, also superb, my husband had the duck which was also superb. The wine list is very good and also very reasonable. We started with a bottle of champagne and then had a bottle of pinot with our meals. And the profiterol and pear tart for dessert was excellent. Excellent quality and a real French bistro. Can't wait to go back.
Delicious meal. This bistro is a gem. Food and service were top notch. We began with onion soup which was perfect for a rainy evening. My main course was the chicken. Since im gluten free, they made me a special sauce of wine reduction and orange. It was served with creamy, light whipped mashed potatoes and sauteed onions and spinach. Can't wait to eat there again.
We come to Baker Street Bistro every year, after going to Bouquets to Art at the De Young.
It never fails to please, and is a perfect way to end a lovely day. We began by sharing the onion soup, which was, literally, over the top, with loads of cheese. It's the greatest! Don't miss it for starters. Then. my wife had the lamb chops, done to perfection. I had the confit de canard, which I requested crispy, and that's how it arrived, also done to perfection. Superb experience. We'll be back, for certain, and maybe even before next year's Bouquets exhibition. Worth a drive from the East Bay.
Always satisfying and a good value. Has a comfortable feel.
Excellent service and great food. My wife had Duck and I had Mussels. Highly recommend Baker Street!!
Lovely, small, quiet intimate place for lunch or dinner. Excellent french-themed food.
Good French bistro food, good atmosphere, good service. Personifies the term neighborhood gem.
The hostess is the best in town
Have eaten here twice, everything was quite good. Really loved their tomato soup. Their $25 early bird 4 course meal is an excellent value.
Chantal and team made the experience so much fun. We’ll be going back again soon.
For my Wife's special birthday Baker Street Bistro was the best choice. Once we entered the bistro the waitress knew that we asked for a window table and it's was my wife's birthday. The bistro looks like a restaurant straight from Paris where we had visited several times. The salads, entrees: my three lamb chops were cooked just right medium rase and my wife's duck were excellent. The salads were very large and can be shared. We had to take home one of the lamb chops, potatoes and my wife's spinach since we were so full. The bistro placed a candle on my wife's dessert for her birthday. The service was excellent - they checked on us throughout the meal and we were not rushed. There are only 10 tables but we did not feel too close to other customers and noise level was acceptable. We had traveled from the East Bay but we plan to return when we want French Food. The prices are very reasonable.
OMG! What a find. Great salads and french onion soup, fantastic entrees and a great dessert to finish things off. Very close seating, but comfy. Can't wait to go back.
Terrific French onion soup. Service attentive. And you can talk to each other.
Always great food, service, ambience at Baker Street Bistro. Have been going for years and will continue to go again!
I would only return for the mussels; they were delicious! The onion soup had a lot of cheese but was lacking in flavor. Unfortunately we ended the meal with lousy coffee instead of strong French coffee.
Always lovely. A great neighborhood spot for all occasions.
One of our favorites ...authentic French food and atmosphere.
Very authentic. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly and attentive.
Good food. Good ambience. Quiet enough to talk!
Nice neighborhood place, good food, friendly and efficient service. The mussels were very good, as was the lamb stew and the steak. Portion size is generous.
Cozy restaurant with very excellent, authentic French bistro food
Wonderful, friendly people, who provided ok service. Didn't seem to have enough personnel on hand to make it good. Huge portions on the food, but it was only ok. My Croque Madame arrived with its fried egg with the white still uncooked. Servers was nice about my comment, took it back to the kitchen, and it came back to me still with uncooked, slimy white. She took it back and this time it arrived back cooked, so much so that the yolk was smashed and cooked to death. As for the rest of the sandwich, it was smothered in goopy sauce. I don't recommend this dish! There were other things on the menu that looked appealing, should have tried on of them instead. The place is charming, so the ambiance is very nice -- but the food, at least based on my experience, don't expect anything really good here. (My companion had a salad, and she didn't seem very enthused about it as well.)
Always great when you feel like a little trip to Paris.
Loved this restaurant. Service wonderful. The mussels were awesome!
Food and service always excellent!
