I was with my husband and 3 other couples for a lovely reunion. We had a table in the lower room and no one else was in the room, hence my "noise" rating as quiet. Other rooms may not be as quiet. I had the pureed vegetable soup and I thought it had a bit of a fishy taste that I didn't care for but others liked it. My mussels provencal were outstanding. Others really liked the duck confit, lamb chops and pork ribs. Someone had a salad that they really liked. Overall, everyone said Baker Street Bistro was now on their dining list. Amazingly enough, 2 couples were long time locals (one lived 2 blocks away) and had never been there. I hadn't been there in years but we are only in SF for 2 months/year. This will be a favorite place to dine in the future. Parking is a challenge since it's on street only. Also, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and steered me away from food containing gluten, since the French like flour. Not a lot of GF choices but there were enough.

I wanted to like this restaurant more than I did. It's a nice neighborhood bistro. Unfortunately the food was mostly adequate. Not great. My salmon didn't seem fresh. The vegetables were simmering for too long. The salad was good. Dessert was quite unique. They scored points there but the strawberries seemed like they came out of the freezer. I know it's hard to have a small restaurant and keep everything totally fresh. Just not enough turnover. I'll eat here again but for the price I wanted more.
It's an amazing and wonderful thing that this gem of a restaurant is still doing so well after so many years. Everything about it is warm, welcoming, and wonderful.
Expensive (several online menus listed lower prices than on actual menu). Food was okay; nothing was exceptional. A 6-ounce glass of wine (none less expensive) was $13.
This is probably not their fault, but the prices listed on their menu are GREATLY higher than the prices listed on Open Table. After reviewing the menu on Open Table and feeling like I was will to pay $24 for a salmon dish, I was pretty disappointed to find it actually cost $31 - and every other food item was significantly higher than what was listed. The male server was not friendly, female server was. The tables are very very close together (couldn't get into the bench without pulling the table entirely out, because there were only two inches between tables. I don't mind close, but this was a bit much and I felt overheated and claustrophobic. My husband enjoyed his fish stew, daughter liked her NY steak, other daughter thought the onion soup was too bready. I had the smoked salmon salad, which had undressed cucumbers and grapes and poached egg on it - sort of an odd combination with little taste.
The location is in a quiet neighborhood. The Restaurant is is small and quaint. The Food and Service excellent.

The restaurant was not prepared for 5:30 opening. Food was very slow to be served. Food was lackluster. Nice ambiance but not worth it.
Had a lingering lunch with an old friend. Chantal (pretty sure that was server’s name) was so patient: fully attentive without rushing us. She noticed that my friend’s steak was somewhat overcooked - he wasn’t complaining, but she knocked the dish off our check. Food is classic and hearty French bistro style. A truly lovely afternoon at an outdoor table on a gorgeous day.

I always have "Moules & frites" it make me feel as if on vacation in France.
This time my mussels were a little tired and not the freshest, still tasty sauce, granted it is not the season.....
We will be back and love this place.
Ordered the mussels, they were microscopic , so small, comparable to size of a dime. Not plump at all. The broth was fine but not worth the price. The salad was wilted and appeared to be sitting out. The host was also the server. The table was cramped, and noise level high as the tables are placed right next to each other with no room. Not a good overall experience with a bill close to 200 dollars.
This is a delightful French restaurant with wonderful food and a great atmosphere. The owner is Daniel from Biarritz in the Basque region of Southwest France, so many of the dishes are from the region. Our waitperson was Dorianne and she is the most charming person on the planet. They have a great wine list (with reasonable prices) - almost all the wines are French and carefully chosen - try the Pinot Blanc!
Baker Street Bistro is one of San Francisco's neighborhood gems. Terrific, authentic French food. Small and intimate with excellent service and a nice quiet ambiance. Parking can be a challenge, but I've always found a spot nearby. You should really give Baker Street Bistro a visit. You will not be disappointed.
It was if I had clicked my heels together and was transported to a bistro in the the small resort village en le mid-Atlantique where I lived as an exchange student 40 years ago. Les moules, le charcuterie, la baguette et le beurre, le mousse chocolate...oh la la!
It was quiet when my husband and dined at lunch because we chose to eat indoors rather than at the charming sidewalk seating. I could imagine on a bustling evening, inside could be a bit louder than what we experienced, but in the best possible French bistro way. Chantal, who was managing front of house and serving, was lovely and allowed me to practice my rusty francaise with grace and humor.
Conveniently located just outside the Lombard gate into the Presidio, Baker Street Bistro is the perfect spot to begin or end an afternoon of exploring San Francisco history in this storied urban park.
We were there for our 9th Wedding Anniversary
I put that down at time of reservation and then when they called to confirm I told them again
They never acknowledged our Anniversary, no drink no dessert nothing
They should be ashamed I felt bad for my Wife

This used to be our local go to place. Always good food lovely atmosphere and great service, so when we showed up the other night for a nostalgic birthday dinner I was surprised that that place was dead only 3 tables seated same old decor and menu. Food was good but we were sadly disappointed that it has not kept up with the times or changed its decor menu etc...this place needs a redue before I can recommend it to anyone else.

I can always count on Baker Street Bistro for delicious French dining in a casual and charming location. The staff is incredibly friendly, getting to know regulars like us, making it a wonderful regular date spot for us.
A neighborhood find that is dependably good! Had the seafood stew, traditional nicoise (with excellent quality canned tuna as it should be), and a fine croque madame.

We love Baker Street Bistro, and have been dropping in there for a taste of France for many years. We love the small bistro ambiance and friendly wait staff, and the food is consistently excellent. The only down side is that they've raised their prices - glass of wine for $14 was a bit much - and $16.50 for an apple tart al a mode was excessive, if very tasty.
Overall, it's a treat for those wanting a bit of French food/ambiance, but be prepared to pay...

Doriane, our maitre de/waitress was perfectly lovely! And the chocolate mousse is the best this side of Luxor.
The best! Down to earth, cozy setting. Tasty, authentic food. Warm, engaging service. Always end up staying long after we finish are meal, so comfortable.

Been here a number of times and have enjoyed it. We shared the goat cheese salad, it was good. There were 4 of us, one had the duck confit- very good, one had the mussels - huge bowl of muscles, 2 shared the vegetarian risotto. They split the dish, but each 1/2 seemed like a full serving. They enjoyed. We shared the profiteroles, they were very good. So good that we ordered a second dessert - creme brûlée. Also good
Oven was broken so menu was limited and we were not offered anything to make up for it. A glass of wine or free dessert would have been appreciated.
Baker Street Bistro offers a typical, nicely varied French bistro menu and very nice ambiance, very pleasant and nice quality with a Basque flavor. The service is attentive, the location easy to access, and the food generally good.
Despite good food prep & skilled cooking, the Canard a la Orange has twice been somewhat tough tho' served medium rare. I'm hoping the duck supplier will step up their quality, as we expect to return to enjoy B.S.B. on many future occasions!
We had a lovely lunch on one of the first sunny days in weeks. As always, food and service were excellent.
