Baker Street Bistro
Our extensive bistro menu includes French classics such as the Bourride (a rich seafood stew), Duck Confit, and Grilled Lamb Chops. Locals and French ex-pats alike swear by the fresh daily specials, Moules Provençale (mussels drenched in white wine, shallots, parsley, tomato & pesto) and Pain Perdu (fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon French toast).
Owner & Executive Chef Danel de Betelu gladly brings a taste of his homeland to Cow Hollow. He leads a warm and welcoming staff who all shares a passion for great food. Join us for a taste of Paris, right here in San Francisco!
Note: Brunch is first come, first serve. NO RESERVATION FOR BRUNCH!!!
Regrettable choice for a birthday lunch with a friend. Our greeter/waiter was unwelcoming from the start, and his attitude declined further throughout our lunch. All of our requests were met with a negative response..no sorry, just no, we can't do that, don't have that, will make no effort to accommodate. It felt as if we were a bother to him being there at all. Our lunch was subpar, burgers dry, tasteless, and burned around the edges. The waiter never checked in on us, although the restaurant was empty. Waiter ate his lunch from a bowl in full view of us instead. We ordered the profiteroles for dessert which were so tough we had to request a knife to cut them. Expresso machine was was broken, no apologies, no substitutions. Coffee served in a mug like a diner, and waiter did not even ask us if we would like a refill. Big fail from start to finish. Praying the owner sees this review so DIRE adjustments may be made. Will never step foot in Baker Street Bistro again!
We moved into the neighborhood and really enjoy this spot. From the decor to the nice recipes that seem honest and fresh, it really as a feel of a bistro, perhaps outside of Paris central. The service is lovely, and in a decidedly un-American manner, they don’t rush you to flip the table. Brunch on the weekend is delicious also.
Heaven on a plate! Lunch!
Delicious, affordable family dining experience. I have elderly parents, so here they could be comfortable, find parking, enjoy good food and hear everyone. The prices were very reasonable and all dishes were absolutely delicious, generous portions with a wonderful presentation!
Lovely local authentic French restaurant . Small but accommodated my 12 party nicely.
What a terrific find. Authentic French food with authentic French servers, where everything on the menu is mouth-watering and even better when it arrives. Can't recommend highly enough.
My wife and I, our first time here. We both had the seafood stew. Neither of us could recall in decades of dining out of having received heartier portions of seafood in such a preparation. The squid was a bit tough, but the muscles, scallops, shrimp, etc. were all excellent. The broth was mild but flavorful. I had a bowl of the soup du jour (Tomato). It was among the best I have ever had. Very smooth; the tomato flavor was distinct. We share Profiteroles (cream puffs filled with ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream). Excellent. Wife had one glass of serviceable red wine; me two soft drinks. $109 plus tip. One of the best bargains in the SF area, where we have dined out frequently for nearly 20 years, on the heels of 24 years in the Portland area. It isn't Quince, but it is a very good buy for a very nice meal if you are somewhere within 20 miles of the Presidio.
Dropped in for Sunday brunch, french toast and fresh fruit - delicious! Coffee is exceptional here. Sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a gloriously warm day with good food and service. It was so good that I decided to come back that evening for dinner. Steak & fries were cooked to perfection, a very dry red wine recommended by the waitress was perfect and the chocolate mousse was an excellent choice as the finale. If you love French food as much as I do, don't hesitate to try Baker Street Bistro. You will not be disappointed. Cheers!
Lovely place and great food!
Food never disappoints, always has been fabulous-especially the French Onion soup(a must have every time).
A great neighborhood discovery! We visit SF often and love to find new restaurants especially ones that remind us of our several visits to France. The meal was delicious, service was excellent and ambience was perfect for celebrating our 37th anniversary. We are looking forward to another visit soon!
Wonderful french food with a lovely atmosphere. It is a small place, so the tables are close together and the noise level is high, but the food and service are lovely.
This is an excellent restaurant. The food is great. Appetizers are very tasty. Main dishes are very good. Great deserts.
Food is always consistently wonderful, and always served hot. Everything on the menu is delicious.
Highly recommend for those dinners that like French Food, good service, cozy atmosphere, at great value.
We were quite early and they seated us w no issues. Service folks very nice, albiet a little slow. Mussels w pomme frites excellent as was the beef bourguigno and fish stew. Dessert was good too. Good wine pours also. Nice low key environment.
Our group of six thoroughly enjoyed Baker Street Bistro, prior to a ballet event at the PFA. Our corner table was small but adequate, befitting a restaurant that is the epitome of cosy. Service was very attentive and quick, drinks were reasonably priced, and everyone enjoyed their entrees. I had the canard a l'orange, and was more than satisfied. We made it to the show on foot with a little time to spare, with the waittress' help, and the whole party spoke warmly and appreciatively of our dining experience. The only negative note was the difficulty we had finding parking, but that comes with the "neighborhood gem" thing, at least in SF.
Really great food - the foie gras is the best in the city in my opinion. Great ambiance. Best part is the service though, really friendly and welcoming. Love this place!
A wonderful French bistro in a quiet neighborhood with nice outside seating. You are lucky to get Chantal as your waitperson. She is as good as it gets. I think she might be an owner as well. Beer and wine only, but there is a full bar across the street. Outstanding restaurant!
We enjoyed dinner. Nice to have a restaurant that prepares classic French bistro food so well. High marks for cassoulet and escagot!
A friend recommended Baker Street Bistro. We had tickets for Smuin Ballet so Friday dinner was a perfect opportunity. We arrived just when they opened, and it filled up quickly. We didn't want to eat too much before heading for the theatre, and it was just two of us so we couldn't try a lot of items. A glass of their sparkling burgundy rosé and a tray of ice cold perfectly shucked briny oysters started us off. We had a plate of seared scallops and a bowl of lamb stew. Both were delicious. The flavors were traditional French bistro, everything in balance. We finished off with a warm pear tart, not too sweet so the pear flavor came through nicely. Excellent espresso. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The place is small, cozy but comfortable with eclectic decor and an open kitchen. It's not cheap, but still reasonable. They offer a very affordable prix fixe special Sunday--Thursday (closed Monday). We will definitely be going back.
Only one wait person...very slow service. The owner and the wait person were in conversation about business for at least 20 minutes (right in front of patrons). I found this to be disturbing. Discuss business away from the front of the restaurant.
Food was OK.
Had the fish stew. Unremarkable this time. Have had much better there before
Food and service were on point. The Balsamic strawberry dessert was sublime.
This restaurant is always good. Today the duck breast was a bit tough.
Food was very nice, service a bit chilly from maitre'd but wait staff (especially the woman) was absolutely lovely and offset that part of the dining experience. Very nice to get a delicious steak tartare and ile flotant! wow! Very nice intrepretation.
The owner was extremely gracious and accommodating. We celebrated a birthday & were able to decorate w/balloons. As it was a birthday luncheon (time-constrained), she was informative and conscientious of that when ordering so informed us of menu items that would take a little extra time (ie: croque monsieur/madame, chicken breast), which we appreciated. All dishes were delicious! Highly recommend dining here.
Haven't been there for a while, but BSB was every bit as good as I remembered. It has a special ambience!
Excellent food, outstanding service, nice small place
Celebrating birthdays! It was great!
Always a great French inspired meal at Baker Street Bostro!
Have eaten here numerous times over the years, have always enjoyed.
Always reliably good food in a wonderful neighborhood bistro setting.
Baker Street Bistro is authentic and delicious. Close your eyes and you are in France. The food is generous and delicious. Enjoy!
If you are looking for classic French dishes done as it should be, this is the place. My friend had 2 items that she doesn't find at many places: steak tartare and the floating island dessert. She was so excited to have these dishes and loved them! The other dishes we had were duck breast, lamb chops, and the rib eye steak. All delicious. The staff is very friendly and allowed us to have a nice leisurely meal!
Baker St Bistro remains consistent with it’s excellent food, service and ambiance. I had not been for about 10 years and I realized that “you can go home again”.
Went for lunch with a friend. We both had choques which were excellent We stayed for quite awhile to talk and were undisturbed by staff. Many things on menu looked great-will return soon for a dinner.
Has a very French feel, beyond the food. Nice people and great food.
Always exceptionally amazing service, and even better food!
Consistently good food, best mussels, onion soup, frites, best everything!
Really lovely relaxed atmosphere, quaint decor and wonderful friendly service. Definitely not posh but typically French food really well cooked. Worth the trip out from downtown San Francisco.
