About Baker House

Join us for casual, small plate dining & fireside cocktails in our decadently furnished 1885 mansion. In the spirit of the great lakefront "cottages" of yesteryear, the BAKER HOUSE has recreated a world of Gilded Age living where grand entertaining is experienced daily and lavish parties are thrown nightly. Sing along at the player piano in our music room, play poker in the game room, savor fine wine in our library and dine fireside in our parlor. Instead of traditional restaurant seating, guests are served in plush wing backed chairs and overstuffed fringed couches throughout the mansion.
NEW MENU IS BEING POSTED!
Our menu of small plates is conducive for lounging and sharing & features many regional items such as Wisconsin artisan cheese boards & charcuterie, seasonal fondues and heartier favorites like Salmon Wellington Style and Braised Short Ribs. For an extra special evening, book a second floor mansion hotel suite!

Great food! Good selection, especially for unlimited mimosas. Fun to wear the cute historical hats while you dine too.

We went for Sunday brunch. The food was all delicious and there was a great variety. The champagne was unlimited, but was pretty sweet, we would have rather had mimosas. Our large group all enjoyed putting on the hats and our waitress encouraged us to change hats each time we got another plate of food, so we each had 3 different hats throughout brunch. Our groups favorite foods were the banana foster, chicken and dumpling soup, tortellini salad and apple bread pudding.

We enjoy the setting of Baker House. We especially enjoy taking family and friends for a delightful get together. The historic nature of the house and its location on Geneva Lake make for to total experience.

They had me at ‘unlimited Champagne and eggs benedict’!

My best friend and I celebrated the beginning of my birthday with brunch at Baker House. Our server was charming and delightful, the brunch selection was lovely and the ambiance is perfect! My favorite part? Picking out a hat (or many as we chose to do) to wear during our visit! A great way to start your day.

We booked a trip to lake Geneva based on Open Tables rating of the Baker house as a top place for brunch, we were extremely disappointed. The house is beautiful but the food was lacking. We had a hard time finding hash browns in the hash brown casserole and same with the spinach and artichoke dip, all cream with no flavor. We were expecting more fresh food and a carving station but almost everything is pre made and kept warm in a Schafer. This was suppose to be the perfect end to a relaxing weekend away and we left feeling blah. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This was a great restaurant under previous owners, as St. Moritz, and later, as Gilbert's. This time, our first time at the venue as Baker House, not so much. Arrived 15 minutes early, prepared to wait for our table. "Chef Bill" greeted us with an admonishing air. "You're early" he said, as though we'd spat in the soup. Hostess was more polite. Chef Bill's arrogance was not earned. Sunday brunch, at $32 per person, was not a good value. Eggs Benedict overcooked. French toast was hard on the outside. Bananas Foster, gluey. Bagels & lox listed on the buffet, but no lox on the table. Dip, but nothing to dip into it. Soup, almost gone, down to the bare bottom of the tureen. What was left was bland. Bouef bourgignon, boring. Thin selection of desserts. Had to wait a long time for coffee (eventually served by another waitress, after we hailed her), and no cream was provided. (I took the pitcher, myself, from a recently vacated, unbussed table.) Pretty chinaware, but coffee was served in a plain mug, like at a cheap diner. Yes, there was unlimited champagne, served in the tiniest of coupes. It was decent--about what one would expect for a champagne included with lunch. Fine old landmark house, but decor was overdone. Ugly and hokey waitstaff uniforms reminiscent of 1920's bathing suits. Lovely view from the veranda, but front yard now cluttered with ugly gazebo and other lawn furniture. What was an elegant venue and a great culinary experience under past management is now a cheap imitation, better suited to Disneyland than to a venue that is on the National Historic Register. Nice that the historic name is restored, but this restaurant does not honor it. My lunch guest was someone who'd previously been to St. Moritz and Gilbert's with me. She was also disappointed. We both wished we'd gone down the street to Popeye's. Even Egg Harbor would have been a more satisfying choice. Pretension isn't worth the price, when the food and service are mediocre, at best. Won't be back.

We stayed at the Baker House to celebrate our 5 year Anniversary where we got married on the wonderful Lake Geneva.
Brunch was absolutely amazing. So many options. I had a made to order omelette and my husband had a made to order eggs Benedict. Delicious sides, cheesy hash browns, smoked bacon, biscuits and gravy. Chocolate fondue, bananas foster French toast!! These were our favorites, but there were three rooms of food options. You had choices of breakfast, lunch, and dessert items. We will come back year for sure.

What a fun place. Don't be in a hurry. Sit back, relax and enjoy the experience. The food was very flavorful. There were 3 of us so we ordered all 3 entrees -Beef short ribs, salmon wellington and spinach & cheese ravioli. Well worth the price per person. Great step back in time.

Not very good food but quite pretentious. Special menu anything but. Cheese appeared to be CheezWhiz and most of the rest of meal was consistent. With only 3 choices for entrees service managed to bring 2 wrong orders.

We had brunch at Baker House on a Sunday morning. Baker House is actually a historic Lake Geneva home that is right across from the water. The setting is truly special. There are both breakfast items and lunch/dinner items on the buffet - which is spread out between two rooms. The food and the selection were both good but neither were outstanding. The dessert options are very limited.

Historic and beautiful mansion on Lake Geneva with delicious food on tables throughout the first floor! We celebrated our anniversary at brunch. The service was excellent and the food was delicuous. All homemade! The hostess, Maureen, was so pleasant and was happy to share the history of the mansion. We would highly recommend this to anyone! I'm going back for tea with the ladies!

The best brunch we've been to in a long time! The food was great, the restaurant is beautiful, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Our server did a super job of anticipating anything we needed without being overbearing.

We sat in the front room (looks like it was once the porch) so we had a great view of the lake. We'll definitely be back! :)

It is a very historic place, with beautiful interior design. We were warmly greeted given a tour of the restaurant and the various stations of food. They offer a variety of hats for both men and women to wear, of so desired. It is separated with breakfast items in the bar room, salads and desserts in the main hall, a chocolate fountain with various items for dipping in another room and hot dinner items in another. All the food was very good, especially the eggs benedict which was perfectly prepared. A bottomless glass of champagne is also offered.

We had heard good things, about the Baker House, which is why we choose, to celebrate, our daughter's 18th birthday. We had a 1:00 pm reservation, but had to wait, for over fifteen minutes,to be seated. It was awkard, waiting,as the hallway, filled with other guests, who also had to wait, along with the traffic ,of customers, trying to get into the bar area and then with the wait staff. While waiting,I heard two, separate guests ,talking about how they had not made reservations, but were seated. I felt, that they may have been the cause, of many of us, having to wait. We were very disappointed, in the food selection, as there were empty food trays and very poor selection. Some of the food trays, did get refilled, but others, did not. The fruit tray, had been picked over, leaving, only the less desirable fruit. We all commented, that for the price,$32.00 per person,we would have expected, much more of a choice and higher quality of food. I would recommend, cold shrimp, some sort of roast beef etc.,crepes, for the banana foster, pancakes etc. At one point, a manager, was touring, a large group of people, promoting the brunch, but this group, got in our way, of getting to the food areas. The best part ,of our experience, was the atmosphere,of the Baker House, but will not be returning or recommending this location,to others. The Baker House,is so rich, with history and charm, that it is unfortunate,to have management, seem to try to save money,by short changing, the customers, with such a low budget menu and to expect customers,to have to wiggle, through crowds and wait a long while,to be seated, even with a reservation. I am sending this message, privately,in hopes that my comments, will inspire, positive change.

It was interesting. We got to experience the nostalgia of an old house that is still beautiful and functioning, may not be everyone's cup of tea if you're not into history. The food was good, I liked the made to order omelet and the bananas foster French toast. I believe we paid more for the experience than the food, $32.00, could have gone to a cheaper brunch without the specialness of the house itself. I feel it was worth the price to experience it once, wouldn't necessarily go back there to eat.

One of the best brunch experiences we've ever had: dining in a cozy room next to a fireplace, overlooking Lake Geneva. Food was fresh and classic; the made-to-order Eggs Benedict were luxurious. Service was warm, charming, attentive and the champagne glasses were kept full. We are really looking forward to going back.

We went for Sunday brunch. Everything about it was wonderful. The hostess and our waitress were both attentive and friendly. All of the food was delicious. We were never hurried so we really took our time, enjoyed the refilled champagne, and got to sample almost all of the food offerings. We were seated on the glassed in porch and were next to the window so we had a view over the lake. It got a little noisy from the table next to us, so we were glad it wasnt completely full while we were there.

We had Sunday brunch at the Baker House. There was champagne and the waitress kept our glasses full. The food selection was great - there was an omelet bar, French toast and biscuits and gravy, among other breakfast dishes. There was also chicken and seafood items if you were hungry for lunch. They had a chocolate fountain with Belgium chocolate and an assortment of items to dip in the chocolate, including strawberries. There wasn't anything I tried that I didn't like. Everything was made from scratch and you could certainly tell - it was delicious.
