Baker House is a gem! Now that Deb has brought Hazels cuisine to Lake Geneva, Wi, we can all be spoiled! Scrumptious food. We enjoyed Sunday Brunch on the porch! Champagne for all!
My husband and I came for Sunday brunch and we had no idea what we were in for... never did we imagine it would be such an intimate and romantic experience! Our waitress was phenomenal and had our champagne glasses refilled without even asking. The food was excellent... one of the best eggs benedict I've ever had! We WILL be back!
A great overall experience. The home in which the restaurant is housed is absolutely stunning. You are encouraged to dress for the period with fun vintage hats. The ambiance is like a period party, including a group retreat to the garden for a toast to the home's original owners at sunset. The drinks were delicious but the food left something to be desired. Veggies were overcooked and cold. My salmon, while well cooked, was just boring. Same for my husband's chicken and crab cake. Still glad we visited for a trip into the past.
While the setting was nice, the service was horrible. When food finally came it was lukewarm. They need more and better servers.

Poor service - canceled drink order when it didn't come before meal was over. Food mediocre at best. Waited a while for check, waited a while for change (which wasn't correct.) Ordered after dinner hot Irish coffee, received a cold Bailey's cocktail beverage over ice. Waited 20 minutes for a decaf coffee....disappointed.
This has been somewhere I always looked forward to re-visiting. Unfortunately, there have been some changes and, as a guest, I could feel it was different. The wait staff was very young and inexperienced...I ended up opening my own bottle of wine as the server (who appeared to be 16) did not know how to. When seated, there was a half empty glass of water on the table from a previous diner.....attention to detail is lacking. Small things, but it changed our usual dining experience and did not meet expectations. Maybe once the staff settled in more and Whatever changes have occurred play out, we will try to return...but it won’t be anytime soon :(
Thursday night dinner, with my husband and young son. Neat vibe; really excited to experience The Baker House as we pulled into the parking lot. The food however was a huge disappointment. Bacon wrapped jalapeños were served partially frozen, we sent them back. The cocktail party for 2 (3 tiers of food) was served room temperature - which I find odd as it was scallops, shrimp, and chicken. My meal was basically pot roast (which I do not like), sold under the name of beef medallions. Awful; I sent it back. Then the bill arrived, I couldn’t believe they didn’t comp a single thing OR offer something complimentary; bill was over $120. Massive disappointment. Service on the other hand was fine, she was apologetic and polite.
Really glad to see that since the soft open service issues have been resolved. Food was excellent.

We live an hour away, and felt like doing something different for Sunday Brunch. It was well worth the drive. The food is in various sections of the house, which allows for no lines and smooth navigating to gather food. Everything was displayed beautifully and tasted delicious. Our table was on the all-season porch, overlooking Lake Geneva. Spectacular view! The staff was courteous, fun, informative and accommodating. An unusual feature of Bakers House is their huge inventory of hats (men’s and women’s). Children and adults are able to pick a hat(s) to wear while dining, bringing some extra fun, to anyone who chose to engage. This restaurant is a must do for all!
We really wanted to enjoy this place. When we walked in, you could feel this history and allure of days gone by. Unfortunately, the rest of the night was not up to that standard. We ordered a cheese fondue appetizer and when it was served the cheese was cold and the candle was Not lit. It came with only a few applied slices, bread slices, and a dozen small rolled gold pretzels. They had to reheat it. You could tell hey did and now the edges were burned from the microwave. We all ordered the fish fry which also included fried shrimp and when the.order came the food was already cool, and there was no tartar sauce or cocktail sauce brought with the meal. We had to wait another five minutes plus while the food got colder for them to bring two small containers for all 4 of us and then wait longer for them to make some more. We also had ordered a nice bottle of wine - Cakebread Cabernet. It was priced at $95. Fair price for that wine in a restaurant. When the bill came we were about to pay it in full with a 20% tip despite the waitresses attitude throughout the night, but then we noticed that she had charged us $175 for the bottle of wine. We brought this to her attention and she could see the tip we were about to leave on the signed receipt. We scratched it off and asked her to figure out why the wine was rang up at the wrong price. She stormed off, and came back with the new bill, now the proper price. We readjusted the tip to now 16% which was still generous given her service, but she saw the new lower amount of the lower bill and clanked our plates around and never said another word to us. No good bye. No thank you. No sorry for overcharging us $80. We couldn’t help but think this price mistake was no accident to us our of town visitors.
There are other issues including a cold draft from the AC blowing on our table and the fact that we walked in a day earlier, asked for a specific table on the patio, watched them assign it to us, and yet we did not get it
We had a great time celebrating a friends birthday, Shea our waitress was excellent and made the memory better....thankyou!!
Reserved a table for lunch with a family visit from my siblings. Claudia did an outstanding job as a server and a source of information. She also took our pictures following lunch. The food was excellent and the value was obvious. We would recommend The Baker Housse to any and all!

The restaurant is in a beautiful old Victorian style home. It is quite lovely. My group was disappointed with our visit for several reasons. We made a reservation during Restaurant Week and we were expecting the special that was advertised. We found out after we were seated that they were out of the special. After about a 10 minute wait, the waiter came by and said that our food would be out shortly to which we replied "we haven't even ordered yet". About 5 minutes after finally ordering, the waiter came to tell us that they were out of another item and a couple of us had to change their order. When the french toast came out it was cold and the waiter actually put his finger in it to see how cold it was. It would have been nice if they offered to take some money off the bill for our trouble or if the manager came by to speak to us but they did neither. The waiter was a pleasant young man and we did ask him to tell the manager that we were disappointed in our experience.
Lunch during Lake Geneva 'Restaurant Week'. Enjoyed the salads and reuben sandwich offerings. Beautiful view of the lake and gardens from the porch dining area. Hope they participate again in next year's Restaurant Week.
Overall, we had a great early evening dinner at Baker House. We loved the location, decor, and ambience of Baker House.
Unfortunately, our server left something to be desired. I don't know if she was having a bad night, or whether Baker House mgmt hired a dud; but, ultimately, the poor service reflects on them.
I'm reluctant to get into the particulars, but feel I must say something specific to back up my review.
1. I ordered an appetizer and an entree. I was surprised when our server brought my entree almost immediately after delivering the appetizer. To make matters worse, she plopped the entree down in front of me, actually shoving the plate with the entree to the side.
2. I didn't notice, but my wife (who worked in restaurants during college) pointed out that our server never checked on us to ask how our meal was, if we needed anything, etc.
I'd like to think our poor server experience was an aberration and would not hesitate to try Baker House again.
We chose Baker House for the experience to see this vintage house during restaurant week. The menu for RW was limited. My husbands Berry Explosion pancakes were huge and to die for. My "chopped" salad wasn't chopped and was more side salad sized--mixed lettuces with sides of cranberries, sunflower seeds, parmesan (and corn which I picked off)--no chicken or avocado and only few tomato pieces. If my husband hadn't shared I would have left hungry! It's a nice place for something different or special, but we probably won't rush back.

Went here for Sunday brunch on our anniversary, food was ok but not worth the cost of the brunch. Our server Chris was very pleasant, and Julie who sat us was also very pleasant. Would have probably had a nicer time if not for another manager who we felt was barking orders at everyone which made us feel very uncomfortable and our visit very unwelcoming!! Would not eat here again due to this.
The baker house was a fun experience. From the whimsical decor, to the variety of dishes served. We were very happy with the whole dining experience and look forward to having dinner there some evening.
Wonderful experience at the Baker house! Brunch was top notch with ample food choices. Everything we tried was exceptional! Trying on the different hats and seeing the beautiful mansion made the experience even better.
Loved the atmosphere. Felt the staff needed more training and manager should not scold them in front of the customers.
Went on a Saturday night dinner date with my wife. The food was disappointing. The location was nice and the sunset champagne toast was fun. We had a great view of the sunset over the lake after asking to move from a table directly in front of the live entertainment at the grand piano. But it kept coming back to the food. How hard is it to cook a steak medium rare? We have no desire to go back.

We took in brunch, then stayed overnight. Everything was over the top. Cannot try to explain how wonderful our experience was.
Loved the brunch at The baker house! Will definitely be back and hope to sit on the enclosed front porch next time. Food was amazing!
We came here for our anniversary looking for something a little unique. The atmosphere was definitely different set in this old mansion. The food was good but not great. We were the weekend before Memorial Day and the staff was brand new and in training so they made a few newbie mistakes. We started by ordering Martinis slightly dirty with blue cheese olives. The server wrote down very specific details and after returning with an update that they did not carry Kettle One we settled on Grey Goose. I must say the bartender got it right. The drinks were very well done. The meal was however somewhat below expectations. I had a Rib eye which was cooked close to how I like it the meat was a little tough.
After dinner we did go to the bar for a nice Kir Royal.
Now I hear they have a great Sunday brunch and I return for that.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere, people. A real experience. Vintage hats line the walls for your pleasure as you dine. Feel as though you've walked into a time from the past. Elegant atmosphere and delicious food. The staff is friendly, helpful and delightful to be around. We highly recommend this unique experience.

We had a delightful Sunday Brunch with terrific service and food fit for foodies.
I would have rated my experience at Baker House 5 stars because the food was awesome and our server was great, but due to the issues with the disorganized and rude front of house staff I could not. I made reservations for Sunday brunch a few months prior to the reservation date and received 2 confirmation emails. Upon arriving at our reserved time, the host told me that our table wasn’t ready as other customers were still there and we would have to wait. There was no place to sit so the six of us awkwardly stood there and had to constantly move to get out of the way. We finally found a place off of the coat room to wait. About 15-20 mins later I went up to the host stand to ask about the status of our table. The same woman who originally told us our table wasn’t ready forgot we were even waiting. We were finally sat at a table that was seemingly open prior so that was odd. Positives-The food was great as was our server Kris, and everything in the chafing dishes were warm. Great selection of food to fit everyone’s tastes. Right as we were standing up to leave and asked our server for a picture, the other hostess (blonde, older woman) rudely said, “Are you planning on leaving anytime soon because another table has been waiting and has reservations.” We said we were just trying to get a picture. As we left, she said loudly to our server, “Those ladies in front have been waiting for over 20 mins!” as if to blame her or us. I was shocked at her tone. My question is why allow reservations if you won’t have the table ready? I can understand waiting a few mins but we waited 20 mins just to get yelled at for unknowingly holding up other reservations. I suggest that because you’re a busy restaurant, create a time restriction and communicate this when people originally make a reservation as well as require the waitstaff to (politely) remind their guests when they arrive. I hope they figure out a new system and employ staff who can keep their composure under stress.
