The Sunday champagne brunch was wonderful! Fantastic atmosphere and delicious food. We can't wait to go back again soon!
Always great food and great time at the Baker house! The brunch is great!
Excellent food and atmosphere! We really enjoyed our evening!
We wanted to go on a fancy dinner date night for my boyfriends birthday. The atmosphere was wonderful and elegant. I can’t say enough about our waitress too! She always made sure we were well taken care of all night. The food was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed their old fashions with our dinner! I can’t wait to go back again someday and would recommend this to any couple or small group to enjoy a nice night out!
Beautiful establishment with the most amazing atmosphere. The bartender was funny, friendly, and good at his job; he even brought us our second round when our waitress seemed to forget about us. All of the drinks were great, the foot was outstanding, and again, the environment is unlike any other.
The food was great. I had the Prime Rib and my wife had the Salmon. Both were delicious. They had a piano plaer who also song the songs. She was great. Stayed around after dinner and had a couple of drinks and listed to her music. A great and fun evening.
Historical, unique dining experience. Great variety of food (Sunday Brunch) My favorite was the french toast with bananas foster.
Pleasant and very helpful staff/service. Looking forward to to dining here again.
Birthday for my boyfriend - i mentioned it and nothing was done about it - as we were leaving we seen a server who we loved from before and she said “didn’t they sing for you?”
A loud party was seated by us and ruined our meal - we were a party of 2 and given a table for 5 - way too impersonal ! I love Baker House but today had cold coffee and the food was so so
Wonderful ambiance and really fun to explore the rooms and try on the hats. We really like the singing bartender and how they use furniture pieces for the dining spaces. Chocolate mousse was outstanding. The rest of our meal was good but nothing incredibly memorable. Great place for a unique experience.
We have had good experiences at Baker House in the past but the service and quality seem to have gone downhill quickly in the past few years. This visit was a terrible experience. The bartender was surly while we waited for our table and our server was downright hostile. When the manager arrived she was not much better. Apologized half-heartedly and seemed very insincere. However I have to give the hostess compliments for apologizing and trying hard to make things better. Then the food arrived including almost raw chicken which we had to send back.
Overall a bad experience on a very special birthday occasion. We will not be back anytime soon and tell others to stay away!
Great atmosphere and scenic view. We had an enjoyable evening. Highly recommend 👍
We drove from Chicago to Lake Geneva for our Anniversary.
Baker house was recommended on line, and the fondues looked appealing.
The ambience was lovely, beautiful and the meal got of to a reasonable start.
Our cocktails were good and service was fine.
The menu was limited, very few entrees.
We ordered an appetizer and cheese fondue for our main meal.
We were still hungry and anxious for the chocolate fondue dessert.
Our server took our order and then disappeared
Seems she had a large party in another room and forgot we were there.
We waited for twenty minutes went to check on where abouts.
The hostess said said she would be right there. After another 15 minutes we found her and she
Said she was too busy to put our order in. We found the manager, no apology.
Our Anniversary dinner was a big disappointment. The Restaurant needs to get its act together.
A better menu would help, but their customer attitude improvement is essential.
The ambience is great, but after that it is straight down hill
Fun night out with our family. Wonderful cheese board!!
"Hidden in Plain Sight" should be the title. We've lived in the area almost 20 years and had never even really considered dining here. What an eye opener. The Baker House is a fun, relaxed, casual-but-quirky chic kind of place to dine. Amazing atmosphere, affordable menu and fun music. Don't come here expecting to be in and out in under an hour. Expect a slow paced, relaxed, delicious dining experience.
sat on the porch, couldnt have asked for a better first time. the food was very good. not sure if there was a dress code, but everyone eating was well dressed. i would go back again to try a dinner. we went for sunday bruch
Food was not up to par. We come every year for my birthday. This was the first time
We had some issues. Some food was cold. My eggs Benedict was not cooked through and was
Pretty much inedible. My husbands as well. Otherwise love this place and will be back.
This is a fun, well managed restaurant on the shores of Lake Geneva. Our service was great and was enhanced by the competent manager, Julie. At sun down a large bell is rung (think Key West) and the diners go onto the lawn in front of the Baker House to see the sun set. Food was good. Try this one.
Fantastic Sunday brunch for the price. Really good food with several tasty options.
The experience met our expectations. The food was prepared well and presented in an easily accessible manner. The service was outstanding as our server was very attentive and kept our coffee and our champaign glasses full. ai must be gluten-free and the offerings were abundant. The salmon on rice offering was terrific as well as gluten-free. We would definitely recommend The Baker House for a Sunday Brunch.
Ambience is very unique and fun but the food is average , similar to that at a wedding.
Although the service was spotty the ambiance was just great and the staff was very welcoming so I would still recommend for the experience. The hotel has maintained all of the architectural integrity so such a treat and they have this amazing collection of hats they encourage all of the guests to wear so it ctreates a really fun atmosphere
Baker House is charming and the food very good. Unfortunately our visit was marred by very slow service due to the restaurant losing our ticket so we had to wait an inordinate amount of time for our food. Then when it came, one of the entrees was raw in the middle. However, the manager was excellent and took that entree off the bill and gave us some percentage off the bill as well. There also was a large party there so that might have added to our mixup. I’ve eaten there before so this is an anomaly for them. Will certainly go back.
Food was really good
Service was awful
Despite the service being not as good as usual due to large parties the same evening, the manager took care of us and we really appreciated it! Our anniversary dinner was not a complete flop as she made us feel special despite the difficulties of the evening in the restaurant. She knows how to manage her restaurant! We can’t wait to go back - the ambiance is awesome and we love the big beautiful old house dining experience
Baker House is a gem! Now that Deb has brought Hazels cuisine to Lake Geneva, Wi, we can all be spoiled! Scrumptious food. We enjoyed Sunday Brunch on the porch! Champagne for all!
My husband and I came for Sunday brunch and we had no idea what we were in for... never did we imagine it would be such an intimate and romantic experience! Our waitress was phenomenal and had our champagne glasses refilled without even asking. The food was excellent... one of the best eggs benedict I've ever had! We WILL be back!
A great overall experience. The home in which the restaurant is housed is absolutely stunning. You are encouraged to dress for the period with fun vintage hats. The ambiance is like a period party, including a group retreat to the garden for a toast to the home's original owners at sunset. The drinks were delicious but the food left something to be desired. Veggies were overcooked and cold. My salmon, while well cooked, was just boring. Same for my husband's chicken and crab cake. Still glad we visited for a trip into the past.
While the setting was nice, the service was horrible. When food finally came it was lukewarm. They need more and better servers.
Everything was so great!
Sunday brunch is fantastic. Wonderful service. Unique dining experience in a historical setting. Highly recommended!
Great view, great martini and the entertainment was awesome!!
Poor service - canceled drink order when it didn't come before meal was over. Food mediocre at best. Waited a while for check, waited a while for change (which wasn't correct.) Ordered after dinner hot Irish coffee, received a cold Bailey's cocktail beverage over ice. Waited 20 minutes for a decaf coffee....disappointed.
This has been somewhere I always looked forward to re-visiting. Unfortunately, there have been some changes and, as a guest, I could feel it was different. The wait staff was very young and inexperienced...I ended up opening my own bottle of wine as the server (who appeared to be 16) did not know how to. When seated, there was a half empty glass of water on the table from a previous diner.....attention to detail is lacking. Small things, but it changed our usual dining experience and did not meet expectations. Maybe once the staff settled in more and Whatever changes have occurred play out, we will try to return...but it won’t be anytime soon :(
Thursday night dinner, with my husband and young son. Neat vibe; really excited to experience The Baker House as we pulled into the parking lot. The food however was a huge disappointment. Bacon wrapped jalapeños were served partially frozen, we sent them back. The cocktail party for 2 (3 tiers of food) was served room temperature - which I find odd as it was scallops, shrimp, and chicken. My meal was basically pot roast (which I do not like), sold under the name of beef medallions. Awful; I sent it back. Then the bill arrived, I couldn’t believe they didn’t comp a single thing OR offer something complimentary; bill was over $120. Massive disappointment. Service on the other hand was fine, she was apologetic and polite.
Really glad to see that since the soft open service issues have been resolved. Food was excellent.
Was so great! Hats from the period were so fun to wear! Sunday brunch was excellent!
We live an hour away, and felt like doing something different for Sunday Brunch. It was well worth the drive. The food is in various sections of the house, which allows for no lines and smooth navigating to gather food. Everything was displayed beautifully and tasted delicious. Our table was on the all-season porch, overlooking Lake Geneva. Spectacular view! The staff was courteous, fun, informative and accommodating. An unusual feature of Bakers House is their huge inventory of hats (men’s and women’s). Children and adults are able to pick a hat(s) to wear while dining, bringing some extra fun, to anyone who chose to engage. This restaurant is a must do for all!
We really wanted to enjoy this place. When we walked in, you could feel this history and allure of days gone by. Unfortunately, the rest of the night was not up to that standard. We ordered a cheese fondue appetizer and when it was served the cheese was cold and the candle was Not lit. It came with only a few applied slices, bread slices, and a dozen small rolled gold pretzels. They had to reheat it. You could tell hey did and now the edges were burned from the microwave. We all ordered the fish fry which also included fried shrimp and when the.order came the food was already cool, and there was no tartar sauce or cocktail sauce brought with the meal. We had to wait another five minutes plus while the food got colder for them to bring two small containers for all 4 of us and then wait longer for them to make some more. We also had ordered a nice bottle of wine - Cakebread Cabernet. It was priced at $95. Fair price for that wine in a restaurant. When the bill came we were about to pay it in full with a 20% tip despite the waitresses attitude throughout the night, but then we noticed that she had charged us $175 for the bottle of wine. We brought this to her attention and she could see the tip we were about to leave on the signed receipt. We scratched it off and asked her to figure out why the wine was rang up at the wrong price. She stormed off, and came back with the new bill, now the proper price. We readjusted the tip to now 16% which was still generous given her service, but she saw the new lower amount of the lower bill and clanked our plates around and never said another word to us. No good bye. No thank you. No sorry for overcharging us $80. We couldn’t help but think this price mistake was no accident to us our of town visitors.
There are other issues including a cold draft from the AC blowing on our table and the fact that we walked in a day earlier, asked for a specific table on the patio, watched them assign it to us, and yet we did not get it
We had a great time celebrating a friends birthday, Shea our waitress was excellent and made the memory better....thankyou!!
Reserved a table for lunch with a family visit from my siblings. Claudia did an outstanding job as a server and a source of information. She also took our pictures following lunch. The food was excellent and the value was obvious. We would recommend The Baker Housse to any and all!
