Baja Cantina - Carmel Ratings and Reviews
We were staying at the Carmel Valley Ranch and wanted a casual nearby place for dinner. The food here was great, and we loved the atmosphere. The decor is super unique -- an amazing collection by a car enthusiast, everything in great condition and amazingly clean (ie not dusty, as many of these types of places with paraphernalia everwhere can easily get). I had a good margarita, and all the food was good. Big place, would definitely recommend.
Great restaurant find on our Western adventure. Food tasted fresh. My only complaint would be that the chips, which were very tasty, had salsa on some of them. It almost looked as if they were leftover from a prior table. However, everything else was delish. Would definitely be back...
Seated fast , was very busy
Loved the atmosphere
Didn't have any drinks but the drinks looked amazing !! Soda was crisp & delicious
Decent priced $$$$
Got the chimi & not much meat in it & the shell was burnt ( should of had the tacos )
Was so excited & my choice lead to disappointment. Would return , but would get something else ....
I have been to Baja Cantina several times since we discovered it about a year ago. Service has always been outstanding, and this restaurant serves the best Mexican food in the area. The mixed green salad is tasty, too. The large deck for eating outside is wonderful, especially on sunny days.
My husband's a car guy, so we knew we needed to check out Baja Cantina. The atmosphere definitely lived up to the hype. He loved seeing all the memorabilia. We expected the food to be good and were pleasantly surprised to discover that it was actually great! We both had the fish of the day - snapper. He had it in tacos & I had it grilled with veggies & coconut rice. Both were outstanding! The margaritas were terrific, too.
Always a fun dinner with car
Fun car decor, food good, service good. Let's see how many words do I have left before I can end this review? Another twenty two words are needed, now I need another how many more extra long words all spelled correctly, soon in black and white.
Great, creative Mexican food! Especially the Mole Enchiladas! Eclectic and comfortable restaurant/bar. One negative comment was that it was difficult to get servers attention for more drinks, more salsa and chips as there was a gaggle hangout just by the kitchen out of view.
Have been here many times and obviously, keep returning. Consistently delicious Mexican food with interesting twists and riffs on the usual offerings. Yummy quesadilla choices, delicious wraps, good entrees, lovely drinks and to top it all off, the service is excellent. Prices are reasonable for our area. Will go back with more family and friends for sure.
Great time! Highly recommend. Chimichangas and nachos were excellent. Service was some of the best I've seen. We got there at 8:07 and were served and finished eating by 8:30. Amazing. Atmosphere was fun and lively. Live band and great crowd. It was our first visit and we will definitely go again.
Celebrating a friend's birthday. Drinks were refreshing, food amazing. Coconut shrimp appetizer, best we've had. Enchilada dinners and chili relleno first rate. High energy atmosphere in a beautiful setting. After dinner walk through Carmel Valley made it perfect.
Great food, as always, but service was poor. We had booked a reservation a day ahead of time for supper on mother's day, but they did not have a table for us in the dining room so we had to sit in the noisy bar area. The hostess acted like this was our fault and seemed generally put out at having to do anything except talk to her friends. Food order was wrong, although fixed quickly. They didn't bring us any silverware or napkins and we had to ask several times before someone remembered to bring them, all while our food was getting cold. Other requests were similarly forgotten. I'd consider going back for a weekday lunch since the food is so good, but probably not for any nicer occasion.
We had a good meal. They sat us in the banquet room because there was a little bit more of a wait then what was expected. I was surprised for a Tuesday night. The banquet room had the same atmosphere & the food was great. The only thing that could of improved as was waitress. He saw her to take our order then our check and that was it. We needed refills on drinks! Overall great experience.
Food was okay! Nothing bad by any means, but nothing spectacular either. Chips were seasoned well. Atmostphere was uncomfortable with yellow/orange lighting. Not sure why it's like that inside, but I could hardly make out my food. Everything looked the same.
