Bailey's Restaurant and Lounge
What a wonderful way to spend evenings together with friends, or to unwind after a busy day of work while traveling in the Winnipeg area. An atmosphere rich in history, friendly service, sumptuous appetizers and entrees, fine wines and spirits await you. Whether it be your business luncheon or dinner, pre theatre reservations for dinner early, a special occasion to celebrate, or simply a dinner out on the town, make it Baileys.
Our menu is continental and very diverse. Features include top steaks from our Char Broiler, seafood, and specialties such as our signature rack of lamb. For those with a light appetite, there are many lighter fares to be enjoyed in the more casual setting of our lounge.
Our third year in a row at this Mother's Day brunch. Excellent selection of food that everyone expects at such an occasion. Great attentive service. Most important is that it makes my wife happy. Highly recommended by our family as we all leave satisfied.
The staff and service was fantastic. They treated us with great respect and kindness . The staff was very knowledgeable and experienced
We will definitely be back to celebrate another special occasion
Thank goodness they have installed a lift to the second floor. Good food
We celebrate our anniversary every year with Baileys. They never fail to exceed our expectations. The food, service and atmosphere are exceptional.
The experience was great, although our service was very loud when speaking.
It’s obvious that regulars are catered too which is understandable but not acceptable when it comes at the expense of others.
Our server was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. Very personable, which added to the enjoyment of our evening. I had beef medallions, which were melt in your mouth tender and very flavorful. My friend had chicken, which was also excellent. Certainly will return.
I've lived in Wpg my whole life and never visited until last weekend. I will definitely be back! My husband and I enjoyed everything from the atmosphere, to the friendly staff and the amazing food!
Our waiter Marco kept our table laughing, great personality!!!
Wonderful evening out, delicious meal, great wine and the dessert was to die for! One our city’s restaurant treasures. Not many restaurants left where one can dress up to dine!
We ate in the lounge. And it was wonderful we had great service. The food was wonderful... Nice and quick
First off the decor is beautiful it is all old school wood inside very refine, your greeted as soon as you enter , the service is above and beyond in my opinion. I took my mom out for a pre show dinner, she had the calamari for appetizer and Salmon for main with a ceasar she’s 66 and picky and she said it was the best meal out she’s ever had so that’s saying a lot. I myself had the 10oz New Year strip for main and scallops for appetizer with a beer that I wish I remembered the name of because it was crisp full and refreshing, went great with the steak. I asked for my steak to be done medium and it was. I heard the ladies the table over asking for well done and I didn’t hear a complaint so they cook the steak as you ask. We were greeted by Brad and this young lady was our waitress and I don’t remember her name which is a shame because she was very pleasant, not pushy and very approachable. It was busy that night because there were a lot of things going on downtown so a reservation is a must for the restaurant. They do have a beautiful full service lounge downstairs as well. The price was on par with other steakhouse type restaurants. Excellent environment. I’d say it’s a great restaurant for a date or a bday. Overall it was a fantastic dinner and we saw El Divo at concert Hall after which was nice and close by.
What an excellent evening
Brad is our favorite server - so naturally friendly and open! And best steak EVER!
Always good food and great service at Bailey's. Surprisingly quiet for lunch with my wife on Valentine's Day.
Took my wife for a birthday dinner. Wanted to try Baileys as it had been many years since I had last been there.
For a Friday evening at 6 pm there was barely anyone in the upper level. I did find the lighting to be too dim and had to use my phone so I could see the menu. Our waitress Jennifer was very good and helped just the right amount, not hovering and not ignoring. I started with a whisky sour that seemed watered down, the appetizers were ok ( Calamari and Escargot). I had the sampler plate with Chicken Souvlaki, ribs and lamb chops. The lamb was very under seasoned in my opinion.
All in all a nice dinner, but not the same from what I remember
Great food, great service, wonderful ambience, very enjoyable place to have a good meal with friends or with someone special. Had the prime rib and it was delicious. The rolls served with the Mal were excellent. The service was beyond great. Very highly recommended.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Especially if you taking her out for birthday anniversary. The staff attend to great. The food is great and taste all flavours of food. The old century wood is beautiful and the low lighting adds romantic setting. The manager is great. The only thing I would suggest is that since was my first time ther after I did coat check my didn’t know if I am there go upstairs or not. I was very please. We had reservation at 8 and left after 11pm and was never rushed was allowed to take time and eat and have conversation.
New Year’s Eve. Great friends. Great food. Great service
Food was disappointing - way too much salad dressing / gross croutons - instead of proactively offering a discount, server instead launched into a lengthy 'explanation' (i.e EXCUSE) as to 'why' the food wasn't as expected. I had to ask for a discount. This is TWO EXPERIENCES IN A ROW where Bailey's has not been up to par. 3 strikes and you're out Bailey's!
The service was the best it could be. But there was 1 servicer for the entire up stairs? For lunch? In December? I couldn’t believe it. The food was ok, but overshadowed by the 2 hours we were there!
Had a wonderful evening. First time at Bailey's it would have been nice to have a greeter or proper signage on the main floor. We weren't made to feel welcome at entrance. Although not particular to us, there seems to be a lack of facilities for the disabled, ie stairs but no lift or ramp obvious.
Upon making the second level, we were welcomed and greeted and service was excellent.
A secure coat check, rather than an open rack, would have been nice. This is Winnipeg, coats and security are important concerns.
Staff Christmas Party
Overall the experience was very pleasant, lovely atmosphere, having missed the busy hour. Service and the food was good. The filet mignon was delicious but a bit too salty, the lobster a wee bit overcooked and the dinner salad kind of ordinary. Having said that we enjoyed 'The Feast'. The chocolate drizzle cake was just right - not too sweet & very chocolatey.
Normally we have had a good meal, but all the steaks were cooked uneven. Well done on one side and rare on the other . Everything else was great as normal
Had a small spillage incident but the manager and our waitress more than made up for it- the meals were fantastic and service was lovely!
This place never fails to impress! Gone for business meetings, get togethers with friends, family occasions and date night. The food is always fabulous and the setting always seems to be perfect for whatever occasion! Love the beef ribs!
The service , food and selection of everything was wonderful. Sadly a party of 30-40 people were seated next to us and the noise level was unbearable. We quickly finished our dinner as we could not even hear each other. I know this is not the fault of the restaurant, however we all couldn't wait to leave because of the noise. Our intention was to have a dessert, a special coffee and a conversation after dinner, but we did have to move down to the lounge to do so.
Food, as always, excellent. Service - husband ordered lamb chops and was brought rack of lamb / told server he'd be fine with eating it but was charged for rack of lamb (should only have been charged price of lamb chops) - server slow to bring drink refills also forgot my potato option (had to ask for it).
I arrived early but was escorted to a lovely table by the window. The service was professional and friendly and I did not feel rushed. I ordered the lamb and it was absolutely delicious, I would go back and try for a lunch time meal for a change.
Was a very enjoyable meal with a wide range of choices to of appetizers, entrees and desserts. The service was outstanding, so friendly and knowledgeable on the history of this historical building definatly 2 thumbs up!
Good food, great service, easy to carry on conversation with friends.
Loved the food, I had the salmon with basil sauce, and roasted potatoes. Everyone on our table enjoyed the food and ambiance. would come again.
Everything was great except that we were seated at a table beside the private dining room which had no way to close the door.
The problem wasn’t the fault of Baileys.... lots of children at the party being allowed to run around and scream and yell..... not very pleasant for us during dinner.
A restaurant that is relaxing and slow paced. We appreciated not being hurried and our server had a good sense of humour. Food portions were generous and my lamb chops were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Overall, if you want a well presented and cooked meal in a classic quiet atmosphere, Bailey’s is perfect.
The food was fabulous and our waiter was awesome and very good at his job. Love this restaurant.
We were heading to the WSO and they kept us right on track with the pace of the meal. Food was delicious, wine was reasonably price. Server did not know much about the wine other then what was popular.
Historic building. Has lot of character. Excellent service and overall nice place for dinner
Excellent service. The meal was delicious and they also accommodated my 12 year old that is a picky eater. He thought the burger and fries were awesome, best ever. The dessert was great and complementary for my husband as were out to celebrate his birthday. We would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or to grab a bite to eat before or after a show at MTC as it is located within walking distance to the theatre.
Out for our fortieth wedding anniversary. Food and service as always was outstanding. 630 reservation left after 10 PM with no issues. Never felt rushed. Service was outstanding right till the end. Great value for money. Will definitely be back.
Service and food were excellent. One if not my favourite restaurants in Winnipeg. If you want to hear your dinner companion, this is the place to go
