Bailey's Backyard Ratings and Reviews
Went to dinner prior to seeing a show at Ridgefield playhouse. Broad and unusual menu of farm to table type food. Away from it taking too long for us to receive water, service was attentive. We brought our own wine but the wine list had some nice choices. 25 dollar corkage charge was high but in line. Menu was superb. We especially enjoyed shishito peppers with falafel, crisp brussel sprouts, mahi, skirt steak and a burger, 50/50 grass fed ground beef and ground smoked pork belly, which is not to be missed. Memorable meal.
Baileys is a hit or miss spot for a foodie. Ambitious and creative combinations are fun are sometimes delicious, but require much more attention to balance and execution than the kitchen often gives it. Moroccan tangine, one of my favorites, had asparagus in it this time which was nearly raw. Carrot cake pancake dessert needed a lot more work to balance sweet and savory elements. No cohesion and hardly sweet. Still, when this place delivers, it does great. I'll always give it another try
First of all, it's very close to the Ridgefield Playhouse if you're going to a show there as we were and the service was friendly, caring and prompt so we had a wonderful meal and made it in time to the playhouse within 20 minutes of start time. The food was remarkable -- very pricey, $36 for the soft-shell crab entree, but oh, so worth it. I have had many soft-shell crab dishes. This one was tops by far! It was served on a bed of red quinoa which had it's own mild blend of flavors. Outstanding!
Great food, with an interesting, mixed menu of farm-to-table cuisine. I have a couple of nit-picks, such as very bland, watery home-made ketchup with the burgers, and service that could have been friendlier and less business-like. (There was no host/hostess, so my wife and I had to wait for a couple of minutes at the front door before a waiter greeted us and showed us to our table. That shouldn't happen at a restaurant of this caliber. It ain't a diner.) Also, it's a little pricey for what it is, but you pay for quality, and this place has it. I could do without the loud-ish music (mostly '80s pop, oddly), but that's a personal preference. Again, these are nit-picks. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant, and I'll be going back for the excellent food.
Theis is one of my favorite restaurants in Ridgefield and I highly recommend it. The food is creative and delicious, the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced, the service is impeccable and the space is lovely and charming. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because it is a little expensive and there are not really any healthy lo-cal choices. Even the vegetable sides - which are YUMMY - are deep fried or sautéed in tons of oil and have sauces... again, YUMMY...
We had a marvelous meal at Bailey's Backyard. The menu struck the perfect balance between unique and intriguing new offerings and the recognizable standbys prepared with a farm-to-table flair. Service was fine, authentic and personable, not overly polished. Wine list, brief but high quality. Was surprised to find this gem in Ridgefield.
I'm not a very adventurous person when it comes to food but this place was wonderful. Food was delicious especially the starter; bacon with pecan nugat. I had the steak which melted in my mouth and my boyfriend had the quail which neither of us had ever tried. It was surprisingly very good. The service was the best, our waiter went up and beyond and had very good details on food and drinks. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an intimate night and great meal.
Food was absolutely wonderful; service was very good too. The butternut squash contained tiny bits of bacon ... delicious! My group was on a time crunch & server understood. The background music was a tad too loud ... not sure if people spoke more loudly because of the music or were just loud.
The food was excellent - delicious, fresh, perfectly prepared. The staff was also very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The setting was nice - not amazing/not displeasing. The price is inline with fine dining restaurants and so is the food. The setting is definitely more casual than the prices. If you value great food, you will probably thing the cost is appropriate. If you can't tell the difference, you'll think it's pricey.
Terrific Restaurant tucked on a side street of Ridgefield. It is not your usual fare. The chef uses interesting combinations of food and spice to develop a special dish. We eat slowly to savor each bite. One of our favorite restaurants in the area. Book at reservation early as this small venue fills quickly.
This was the third time at Bailey's and it's been consistent...almost a great meal, but comes up short. The service was right on the money, the atmosphere is calm, comfortable and unpretentious. The food is ambitious and interesting, providing way-too-cliche "farm to table" elements in an eclectic mix of styles including good ol' southern soul food to Asian elements. But it seems to fall short of what's intended. Generally great ideas, just not executed properly. The prime example was a scallop dish with hominy, which was drowned in a sweet apple and spice broth. The scallops were delicate and beautifully cooked. Why not let them shine, and add an accent of the potently sweet broth. I get the idea, but it didn't hit the mark. This seems to happen over and over again. But, with that said, it was good enough to keep us giving it another try. Nothing in Ridgefield comes close to the inventive cooking and cool vibe. I hope they can find the refinement needed to push the experience to the next level.
Right from the start we had excellent service, our reservation was for 6:15pm and we were late by about 20 min. We called and they were able to save us a table and when we arrived they couldn't have been nicer. Wait staff was excellent and courteous. We ordered our food and they were very helpful to have it to us as we were going to see a show. The chef was on the floor almost at all times making sure everyone was doing well and enjoying their meal. Well spent time and money.
