Food and service was great. Recommendation would be for them to invest in making the restaurant a little nicer i.e. table cloths on the tables. No plastic chairs.

Calamari appetizer crisp and not chewy as some calamari can be...Two of us ordered the Brocheta Argentina, and they only brought one...our server, Crystal, was very upfront about it, apologized and offered to see if we wanted to share the one plate while the other was being prepared...we declined.

Once the 2nd Brocheta came out, it was prepared perfectly, with a good flavor that could not bee beat.

The others ordered Linguini Fried Diablo, Chicken Parmigiana and 5 cheese ravioli...again, all prepared perfectly.

It would have been a nice gesture to comp the appetizer since they made a mistake with the one entrée...

Small gem of a place, the ambience is friendly. Music a little too loud, had to talk really loud to person across table. BUT the food is ALWAYS EXCELLENT.

The cafe is on a side street fronted by a very broken and uneven sidewalk. It's not well lit on the outside and seems a little hazardous for the elderly . At this point, not an issue for me but would not take my mom. The interior is chintzy and floors are sloping. This would not be a place I'd go for a special occasion. However, the food was tasty, service was attentive, prices were very fair. Bread and accompanying dip was good. Wine list worked well with food selections and you could tell someone thought about the choices.

We stumbled upon this restaurant in Whittier, while on a walk. We were pleasantly surprised by the service, food, and ambience. We both enjoyed our entrées, however the temperature could've been a little hotter on my veal Marsala. The mashed potatoes could use a little more flavor, otherwise everything was excellent. The desserts were perfect. Service was polite, friendly, enthusiastic.

I came here for lunch, I was impressed by the food. The truffle fries & our salads were great. However, the atmosphere was extremely bazar. There was an asian looking fish tank with open wires in the middle of the restaurant, with cheap looking paintings / overall decor. The service was bad. There was no host in sight when we walked in the restaurant. Our waitress was strange- she acted bothered by any requests we made to our food which made us uncomfortable. When she brought us our check she said she couldn't find her pen and asked if we needed one or if we had our own. I literally laughed to myself- a waitress should always have a pen. Then she rang up our bill wrong making me late to a meeting. Overall, good food, bad everything else.

Love my Bailey Street Kitchen. The food is excellent, service outstanding. This fun, family owned operation serving wonderful cuisine is a great neighborhood gem. Now they have wine and spirits. And a tempting/mouth watering special menu with incredible veal dishes and a nice array of pastas and other food items. You must try their wonderful food in a great atmosphere.

Each time we dine at this wonderful establishment and partake in yet another delicacy, we walk away with yet many other recommendations. This restaurant is amazing and the food - from our salads, to the mushrooms, to the pasta, to the chicken were well prepared and served nicely. A most delightful experience.

The Mahi-mahi tasted fishy and was not seasoned well. From many of our past experiences with this fish, when it is fresh it is very mild, firm and not fishy. The hostess was very gracious and did not charge for it.

This is an awesome neighborhood Italian Restaurant serving wonderful cuisine. The pasta dishes are well done and both our Spagetti and Meat Balls and Linguine with Clams were quite tasty and perfected served and presented. This will be our 'go to' neighborhood restaurant. Service was excellent as well. Overall, job well done.

I always plan a meal at the Bailey Street Kitchen whenever I know I will be in Whittier. I had a delicious Mexican beef dish that was flavorful. I must admit that the portion was huge and I made only a small dent in the portion.

Don't miss the Asian Salmon Salad next time you visit. It is memorable and worth having on several occasions!

The tortilla soup is fantastic. The salmon was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy in the middle. The portions are large. Try the restuarant; you will enjoy it.

Was a little disappointed. After all the favorable reviews was expecting more. The Provoleta was an overcooked, hot mess. The crispy onions just O.K. The Steaks were actually quite good. I had the skirt steak & my wife had the Rib-eye. Tasty & tender. Only available dessert was the Lava Cake. Not a fan.
Our waitress had no idea what was on the menu nor how it was prepared. Will probably go
back, but was hoping for so much more.

Being from LA, I had no idea where to eat in Whittier. Open Table recommended Bailey Street Kitchen. Our party of three was held up in traffic and was late for our reservation, but the restaurant held our table for us anyway. We were pressed for time (our own fault), and let the waitress know. She expedited our order and had the check on our table when the food arrived. I had basic spaghetti and meat balls. It was excellent. The other two had chicken piccata and chicken marsala. Both love their selections.
Everyone on the staff we had contact with was pleasant and knowledgeable.
The restaurant is on a quaint little street in Whittier, perfect for a little walk before or after dining (if one has time).
Overall, a great experience.

The food was pretty good, location and ambiance were also nice but I was disappointed to learn that they don't serve any alcohol. When I go out for a romantic Italian dinner, I like to have a glass of wine to pair with the dish. Since soda would be kind of gross to pair with a seafood pasta, I went with a coffee beverage. Italian restaurants are normally known for making great simple espresso beverages to have with dessert so I asked for a Cafe Au Lait (coffee with steamed milk). No one in the restaurant knew what I was talking about and I guess had no way of even heating up the milk. All they would have had to do was bring a little hot milk with the coffee. I didn't ask for any complicated syrups or cocktails.

WHITTIER'S LITTLE GEM
Ever since we found Baily Street kitchen, we have returned often -- for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We are always treated in a very courteous and professional manner. Food was outstanding! We hope they have great success in thier expansion, and hopefully the inclusion of a wine list.

The food and service were excellent. The salmon salad was delicious, as was the pasta alfredo with chicken. The pasta was cooked perfectly. Tortilla soup came with the meal. It was the best tortilla soup I have ever had. It was too noisy for me, but both rooms were almost full. We had lunch and will be going back for dinner.

The Bailey Street Kitchen is a neighborhood gem that you might find in other cities known for their great cuisine. It's become my favorite in Whittier, and compares with any wonderful bistro in Charleston, S. C., Chicago, or Seattle. They served a scrumptious French onion soup and a salmon salad that was "to die for!" The service was great and it was a treat for a late lunch.

I'm looking forward to dining there tonight with a friend. I can't wait to see what the chef has in store!

Bon Appetit!

The only place we had eaten in Whittier when we attended the Shannon theater was the California Grill. I called and emailed for reservations but they never responded so we found Bailey's Street on Open Table. It was a VERY pleasant surprise. The pasta and salmon dishes, chicken piccata and tin foil steamed seafood and vegetables were all excellent. The three salads we tried were delicious also. The prices were very reasonable. The only problem is they serve no wine, beer or alcohol and do not allow you to bring your own. We will certainly be back next time we go to the Shannon.
