Service was very slow for our group of 8.
Good food and great views. The band can be loud but it was fine for us!
Reggae Night at Baia was great! Ambiance is perfect, band was great, food was better than we expected and service was pretty good with just a few glitches. I will say, that it would’ve been a far better experience if the band hadn’t been BLARING in volume. And I’m not that old, so I think I can say that safely since my party included people in age from their late 20s to early 70s. The bottom line is you cannot have a conversation during dinner. And if there’s a problem/need with your service, you literally have to yell for them to hear you. And some of the servers are a bit green and don’t realize the importance of bringing something immediately—like a fork or a napkin or condiment. So training could be improved. We had to ask three times for fork & napkin and more times for water to be refilled. Little things like that are all takes for people to get frustrated and not return. The restaurant definitely needs to pay attention to things like that and have ALL of their staff asking people, “Do you need anything?” and then Go. Get. It. Use those water server people for crying out loud when servers are super busy. Other than those two things, I think the place is really fun and we will be back.
Booked seven weeks in advance and asked for outside porch. Celebrating my daughters birthday. When we arrived they told us that the porch was first come, first serve and we would have to wait at least 35 minutes. We were very disappointed but since we had small children we decided not to wait for outside but accepted a table inside. They proceeded to take us to a table in the back of the restaurant furthest from the outside and next to the restrooms. We told them we were very disappointed and asked to be moved which they finally did. The hostesses had a very snippy attitude. Food was mediocre and they forgot something I ordered. Would not run back!!
The view was beautiful. The service was pretty awful. Once we complained the waiter was attentive. Although I have a severe peanut allergy and every item had problems with contamination. Drinks were awful but food the 2nd time. Horrendously loud music outside could not speak to anyone. Will try again because my brother loves it
Never go back, overrated , bad service food took a long tome, price was just ok
Went to the restaurant for the first time in years. While the decor has been updated, it wasn't to my taste. The outdoor area is great, however, with nice views of the bay overlooking Ocean City. Our server was excellent and satisfied all our needs. The food was very good but not exceptional. We'll try it again.
Food was better than reviews had stated. View was amazing and music was great!! The wait staff was ok restaurant was not that busy for service to be slow. The hostesses thought we left and gave our reservation away. We arrived 15 minutes early and I asked if it was ok to sit at the bar outside. They said yes and I asked will you come get us and they said yes. Never came to get us and assumed we left....
We had dinner on the deck at 5:45 pm-the band came in and was entirely too loud and “club like music” at dinner hour-after 8 pm would be fine but not that early! Ruined the evening a bit-could not hear each other talk
Way overpriced, especially when compared to the quality and price of food nearby. We sat outside and enjoyed a lovely view and live music. We should have just went for drinks on the deck.
I made a reservation, which was easy enough, but in this special alert section I requested outdoor seating. When we got there, I was told that we were being put on a waitlist because outdoor seating is first-come first-serve. Had I known this, we wouldn't have bothered. Without the outdoor seating and view, this restaurant is nothing special. The front desk staff is beyond rude. The service was mediocre and I wouldn't even describe the food as that. There was a live band outside that was so loud that you couldn't even talk. We will not be coming back here again.
Tuna was terrible- not sure how u could ruin ‘sushi grade’ tuna; service forever to get salads then meal came while we were still eating salad! Will not be going back
We stay in OC every year and Baia is always on our list. The outside porch has the best views anywhere around and provides upscale dining. The lobster ravioli were fantastic! We had a waiter who was training a new person. We actually thought the trainee was great, better than the waiter...
Service was slow and we understood she was training someone. She missed the basics of serving and timeframes. Took a long time to get basic necessities, water and silverware. Food was ok but not worth it.
Fire alarm went off twice, entire building was evacuated. Bugs found in my 5yr old sons meal and everything was way over sauced. Will never come again.
This place is overpriced considering the food they put out. Plus the stuff is borderline rude.
This was the worst dining experience I have ever had.
We were led to an outside table on the bottom deck where a singer and electric guitar were blasting music. Way too loud! Relocated inside! Reservation at 7:45 pm, received entrees at 9:30 pm. Three out of six meals were ice cold! Not going back.
Every year my husband and I look forward to the opening of Baia, we miss their great menu all winter long and yet we understand. Love the view and the atmosphere. We ate inside and still had a great view. Our server was very friendly and our meal was excellent. Love the pork dinner.
Great restaurant, really enjoyed the food. The location is right on the bay and there are great views of the bay inside the restaurant and they have lots of outside seating as well. We opted to dine inside since the weather was so hot & humid on the night we were there. We still had great views of the bay and the bridge to Ocean City, NJ. There was an issue with the clam chowder (the clams were too tough and rubbery) and the server removed it from our bill. We'd return to eat at Baia in the future.
I eat here often, and is usually very good but tonight was average at best. Plastic wrap in my fish dinner, did not make a big fyss, but I thought for sure they would have done something to compensate. Everyone else's meal was just ok. Will still go back as I always give 2 strikes
Great dinner between the drinks and the food!
Worst experience from beginning to end. Rude host staff, waitress never around, 2 rude managers. We will never eat here again and we will tell anyone who asks to stay away
Food was excellent however the service could use improvement. After we ordered our food it took more than an hour for the food to arrive.
I have been here several times it has always been hit or miss. I will not return again. 6 of us no one liked anything. From apps to salads to fish entrees being over cooked and tough clams in the soup. I even had a martini spilled all over me by the bus boy who I’m sure felt bad but nothing was done about it. I was handed a bar rag and asked if I wanted another drink. Then no one came to clean up the table which along with my dress and shoes was soaked in vodka. I’m very easy going but they didn’t even offer a manager or to clean my dress. There were pitchers of water on a serving table behind us so I used that to clean my dress. Then the topper they put that drink on the bill! Absolutely awful. It’s a shame great view great bar but the worst food and service. Finally putting the x on Baia😡
Food was very good, first time visiting Baia and it was a pleasant experience. Cocktails were good as well.
Went to Baia with my wife & daughter for lunch. It is a seasonal restaurant on the water. Those restaurants tend to have seasonal help so they aren't always up to speed on everything. My wife & daughter both had the chicken milanese & I had the stuffed sole special. The food & service were fine. Typical shore. There is one issue though that the restaurant should fix immediately. We ordered the 1/2 bottle of Chandon Brut from the wine list. It was priced at $11. Being that I am a wine collector & eat out quite often & I am familiar with this wine, I know that $11 is too cheap for a 1/2 bottle in a restaurant. I asked my server if it was a 1/2 bottle or a 187. He told me it was a 1/2 bottle. I said okay bring it. He then brought a 187, which really wasn't a surprise to me. I asked him again & he said it was a 1/2 bottle. I imagine the server telling me that is a training issue. I wouldn't like to think that the restaurant is purposely misleading the customers although the listing on the menu is misleading.
The kids enjoyed their meals. The adult meals were mediocre. Best to just have apps and drinks. Sitting outside is so nice on a beautiful evening. However, being served a martini in a plastic cup was disappointing.
Simply HORRIBLE WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS / wanted to walk out after being there and the manager after complaining about waiting for meal fr an hour was unprofessional / it ruined my night with family
We were looking forward to a lovely dinner on the water. Unfortunately after an hour and 15 minute wait for out food, only one of the five meals was actually cooked. The food they served us was actually raw.
Food was okay and drinks were small. Lower deck was nice for having drinks with friends. View was also nice. I’d go here again for drinks with friends but would likely skip dinner.
Service was slow and the food was terrible. The grilled tuna was characterized as sushi grade ahi tuna but it was previously frozen (anyone who likes tuna can tell the difference between fresh and frozen) and it tasted like fishy shoe leather. Nasty stuff. The grilled salmon was white in color so Im not sure what type of fish it really was. Worst meal we have had at a restaurant in a long time.
It took almost two hours before we received our entrees. We were told three times our food was coming out soon. We ordered a side of broccoli rabe, that eventually arrived another ten minutes after the already ridiculously tardy entrees, and it tasted awful (tasted like they substituted pepper for garlic... choked when I ate it). Oh, parking situation is horrible.
Great food, service and ambiance. Only dinged it a star for being out of a lot of dishes (Tuesday night). We live coming here every year when vacationing in OCNJ.
I have eaten at Baia several times and always enjoyed it. I brought two friends this time, and they enjoyed the food, the view, and the service, as much as I always do.
We took our 3 kids after an afternoon on the boardwalk & it was perfect to sit out on the deck. It was relaxing & very family friendly. Our server, Sal, was awesome. He was accommodating with the kids, caring & understanding. Definitely will go again with the kids!
Service was extremely slow this visit. We ordered only entrees and were there for an hour and 45 min. We’ve been there before a few weeks ago and didn’t have this problem. Half our table loved their dinner- bolognese and NY strip with the Marsala sauce. The other half weren’t impressed - salmon and swordfish were dry and oily. Love the atmosphere but the service was the main issue tonight.
Food was very good. Drinks were also good, creative and not too expensive. Was just very disappointed we couldn't order an item on the special menu and not told about it until we were ordering. When an item is out, that should be the first thing the server tells the diners when they sit so one does not get their heart set on it!
Wonderful experience. Enjoyed the live band and eating on the outdoor deck.
Our server was a little overwhelmed with three of her tables being seated at once, so initially it took a while before cocktails and rolls/bread were served, and the order was taken. However, after the initial longish wait, the timing improved.
Our food was delicious - the menu provides a lot of options: most of them italian and seafood. We both choose the “fish plus topping” menu option., which allows you to choose from five different fishes and five different toppings. The sides were also very good. We fully enjoyed the meal.
The restaurant is right on the bay, and the views are great - if you can get it, I think the best seating is on the upper porch.
