Bagu Sushi & Thai
I can't believe it took me this long to find a place like this! Relaxed, quiet, amazing sushi, and cute ambiance. The only negative I have to say is that it was pretty chilly in the restaurant, but it was a very cold night anyway! We had happy hour sushi and beer and let me tell you, they were so wonderful. Usually with happy hour, places skimp on things, but not Bagu! We were 100% please with the quality and portions. Highly recommend going there for some good prices and delicious food. We didn't order anything except sushi and beer, so I can't comment on the other dishes there.
As usual this is our go to Sushi & Thai place, although we have to commute 20 miles to get there. But it's worth it. The only concern was the Tuna Tataki was sliced a little bit thicker then normal and we prefer it sliced thin. The cream cheese puffs, which are my favorite were as usual "perfect". You can't go wrong with any of there vast selection of rolls. It can get a little bit busy so I encourage you to make reservations.
Service was fast and the food was great!!!
Great food and excellent staff! We felt very welcome and our service was beyond expectations. Will definitely come again and I recommend the boat noodles!
It was cold inside and the service was very slow. The food we ordered was good.
Great food and our server was knowledgeable and polite. The decor/ambience could use a little facelift. Overall will come again!
Excellent range of choices, really quality food, flavors were all awesome, and the shop is small and fun. We will be returning.
Shhhh. Don't tell anyone about this neighborhood gem! Great food and outdoor patio during the summer make for a nice combination.
Spur of the moment we and another couple decided to dine at Bagu. Food was tasty and the service was very good.
It seemed hectic- and getting there early mean sun in our eyes. The space felt crowded and not as clean as I’d like. I.e., tables not cleaned between diners promptly. The food was terrific, though. Parking is hard.
Great happy hour Sunday-Thursday. Sit on the patio if you can.
Bagu is our go to place for a great meal. However, as tasty as the food is, the consistency of the entre' can really vary from visit to visit. Plus I feel the portion sizes have shrunk over the past year. All in all, I recommend this cozy restaurant in South Minnie!
Always a pleasurable experience. Love to eat our favorite sushi and Thai dishes outside.
Terrible service. We waited a long time to give our order. She brought my dish a full 15-20 minute before my husbands. We had to remind her we were still waiting. No apology or compensation.
Service was slow (in their defense someone must have called off cuz the was only 1 waitress) but the food was amazing!!! It's a hole in the wall kinda place so you don't go there for the ambience.
Excellent food. Slow service.
Outstanding food and service
I really like this space. It’s intimate without being stuffy. The few times I’ve been there it’s always been busy, so that in turn means a little longer wait time for your food. But it’s worth the wait. It’s always been delicious. They have always been out of smoked salmon when I’m there, but I’m not too picky. So that’s not a deal breaker either. Overall, I’ll always go back. It’s close to home and haven’t had a horrible experience yet. :)
We had sushi, and it was fantastic! It is a small space and we were seated very close to other parties and because it was so busy the noise level was loud. If you’re looking for an intimate experience this may not be the best spot. My friends and I loved it however and had a great night there.
We used a Groupon, but this place was SO affordable even without a discount. Also, the Saki was not overpriced, either. It's a nice little neighborhood gem. We stuck to Japanese and didn't order any of the Thai dishes so I can't speak to that. The food was amazing, and so was our server. She was really good at offering suggestions, and highlighted things that are more unique to their menu such as the JBB
(fresh salmon, cream cheese and green onions, deep-fried tempura style) which was amazing! They also have specials, but they must be really popular because everything we wanted was sold out. However, this was a Sunday night, so I'm sure the chances are better at being able to order them during the week, or earlier in the weekend, especially seafood. The waitress did warn us that it can be VERY busy there on Saturdays, so to book a reservation in advance (i.e. the place is very small). I'm sure there will be more seating available in the near future as she also informed us that they have outside seating in the summer. We will definitely be back!
Great sushi! Always consistent and a solid value compared to most. Great happy hour!
Our 100% go-to destination for healthy and authentic Thai food. You cannot miss with the portion sizes and value of their meals. Highly recommended.
The food was really good - Pad Thai with Chicken, spring rolls, and avocado rolls.
The service was just a little slow - as they were quite busy for a Thursday evening and only two servers. I believe they did the best they could.
Amazing food...I recommend making a reservation because it’s busy.
I’ve been going to Bagu for years and always enjoy the food and the whole experience. It’s a neighborhood gem.
New fave place!! Really love the menu and the service is great :)
Why travel far and pay exuberant prices for sushi and sashimi? Also, so many more Thai and Japanese dishes to explore. We enjoy first trip and look forward to many more to explore this neighborhood gem.
I try to frequent this resturant at least once a month. The food is good and the service is always the best. It is a small place I suggest reservations especially for their happy hour. Nice neighborhood place.
Birthday dinner for a friend. It was packed, which is always a good sign. Food was delicious. Waitress was slow and inattentive.
Great casual dinner spot
We had very nice sushi appetizers. Then we share dragon, philly, and sinjuhku rolls. All the food was excellent. They had run out of beer but they did give us a bottle of wine for $15. Very nice server. Small but efficient place.
The food was excellent, and it was great cozy gem. I was surprised at how long we had to wait for service to check on us, and the waitress forgot I ordered another beverage, but the staff was otherwise really pleasant. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great date night!!
The service was excellent. The acoustics makes everything louder than I would want. The food was good. We had tempura as an appetizer, miso soup (only luke warm), vegetarian pad thai (very good) and grilled chicken with peanut sauce. The chicken was flavorful and was a large proportion. It was accompanied with a large, bland serving of steamed broccoli. I would go here again.
Food was fresh and very good. Would definitely go back.
We went there with the kids and the food was yummy and fresh!
A nice dining experience. It feels a little like they are trying to "find their way" as the (server) staff was not quite sure about some basics but they quickly checked in with the chef and came back with enthusiastic and accurate responses that were reflected in three very enjoyable (and spicy) meals. Definitely worth doing.
They were extremely slow. I even said we were trying to get out at a certain time... seemed like they did not care one bit. EXTREMELY slow to take our orders, slow to bring us a check. I had to ask. They never came up to check and see how we were doing. Would never go back here. I will drive to Apple Valley and go to Taste of Thayai. They should go once and see the difference in service and food quality! They are cheaper, way better service and just amazing tasting food! I have not tried anything that didn't taste good there, real thai food!
Good food and great service- pricing is reasonable
