Expect to be amazed when you go to Bad Art. Their offerings are and their service is extraordinary. Combined with the unique atmosphere Bad Art delivers a special dining experience.
The service was outstanding. Appreciated meeting and talking to the owner, and getting some of his recommendations off of the menu. Will say, I was a bit surprised when the bill arrived. I ordered the meatloaf, and did not realize the price until the bill arrived. As most meat loaf lovers will attest, if it is on a menu, it's got to be pretty good, so you order it. The owner if let me know that it was a special recipe from a former restaurant that me had in California. I will say it was very good. However I found out after the fact that it was $27. It did not have a price on the menu, and was surrounded on the menu by some other entrees in the $17 - $19 range, so my mistake for assuming it would have been in that price range, and not asking the price prior to ordering. I would never have ordered a meatloaf entrée for that price. Would have totally opted for one of the steak entrees instead, that were recommended by the owner. This is a recommendation for the restaurant to please update the menu to reflect all prices, that would not be features such as fish specials where the prices may fluctuate. Some customers feel uncomfortable asking about prices. I guess a recommendation for future customers, would be to ask if you want to know, as this is a great restaurant with an amazingly clean menu and food preparation, and will prevent a bad taste in your mouth after the fact if you don't want to pay $27 for meatloaf.
Loved the service, the atmosphere, the food. The chocolate martinis made a fabulous dessert. What a great choice for our Valentine's Day date!
Great food ! Good service and atmosphere in the restaurant. Small eating areas but,not overly cramped. Will go back and would recommend to a friend
Fantastic food and service for a business meal. Will definitely bring my wife back soon.
All said the food was great and the wine as well even the service ! We dined for dinner and w appetizer and wine and tip we spent about $140 for 2 ! Which even though in my opinion best food in town it will not last in St.Joseph w/out cheaper menu options . Also never heard about it before that day it ! So maybe a little more publicity to boost popularity! All in all like a KC dining experience in St.Joseph and that's the first in my opiinion!
It is expensive and you don't get extra food. However i enjoy a bit of high quality food on occasion. They lamb, butternut squash ravioli was interesting. Seasonal options such as a carrot curry soup are icing on the cake. The service was first rate.
We had a great time with superb food for our dinners. The decor is interesting and eclectic in a location that is working to improve. The outdoor eating area was very nice.
I have lived in the St. Joseph area for 36 years and never had this quality of food, prepared perfectly and with fantastic service. Too costly for frequent dining (for me) but in all aspects I got more than expected. Can't wait to go back there soon! No need to drive to Kansas City for quality any more, now that I've tried Bad Art Bistro
the wine list was limited but the food was excellent.
Great food. Don't let the outside of the place fool you it is an eclectic tasteful place. Live music on the outdoor patio that would be fun for a late night out.
For the price I was expecting more. We ordered the cheese board, small plate-lobster mac, garden salad, grilled pork chop dinner, and 2 meatball with pasta. The lobster mac was just okay-maybe 2 ounces of chewy lobster and the mac was just okay. Avocado salad needed seasoning. My husband's pork chop wasn't bad, but for the price? The meatball and pasta dish was horrible. They need to rethink that dish. Make your meatballs. The service was very good. Thank you Tabby.
Ate here for New Years eve. Had a great time at our table of 4. Food was perfect, presentation was fabulous. Very fresh and seasoned to perfection. Just the right amount of atmosphere, fun yet not too loud. Able to enjoy conversation, laughter and wine without feeling intrusive. The matre'd and waitress were excellent, very knowledgeable and attentive. A GREAT evening!
The food was wonderful. Very unique setting. Service was great. Very laid back and relaxing dinner
When we arrived (early) the restaurant had no record of our reservation, even though we had received confirmation. They were going to call the chef, who had already gone home. We certainly didn't want the chef to come back in! We were able to get into a nearby restaurant and had a great time and great meal. Just seems odd that Bad Art Bistro belongs to Open Table but don't check the reservations???
Great privately owned restaurant in a city of corporate chain restaurants. Staff very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Good variety of seasonal menu options and great wine and craft beer list. Local artwork is also on display which gives this restaurant a unique ambiance.
The food was a surprise. I was delighted to find lobster mac and cheese in St. Joseph, MO.
We found Bad Art Bistro last year when we visited St. Joe. We returned this year, and it was still fabulous! Great food, plenty of menu choices, wonderful service and very reasonable prices. We'll be going back any time we're back in St. Joe.
Made a reservation for Valentine's Day and was quite excited from the reviews, decor and menu. Actually no longer Bad Art Bistro, not the same menu, no decor, and then they ignored us standing at the door for ten minutes and for 15 minutes after seating us. And the meal was not served hot, a bit dried out, and over priced for the experience. Really didn't get it. The y seemed very overwhelmed. Major disappontment on a night that they should have prepared for and nailed it. Need to correct the online misrepresentations also.
No one greeted us or anyone else after us for a long period of time which caused a backup of patrons and the door being open too long. We had to keep our coats on as the air was very cold.. They were understaffed with too few waitresses. Food took forever to be served and was cold when served and wasn't worth the money that was charged. We observed several people upset and some left. We have gone too bad Art Bistro under the prior owner and food and service was always awesome. We won't be back.
After my first visit, I will not be returning. If you are going for drinks, then this place is okay. I've had better food at Golden Corral. The service was sub par and the food is way overpriced. I paid $45 for a TERRIBLE steak. My girlfriend compared it to hamburger. It was thin, fatty, and overcooked. The lobster Mac and her scallop pasta were of Olive Garden quality for double the price. Do not waste your money like I did.
I entertained a group of eight customers. The service was delightful, the food was good and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend the Bad Art Bistro, even though it does not have any art.
Yes,yes! I would recommend this place pretty much for everyone!
It would seem that at every turn, when we tried to order a food item (any item), it was out - blamed on the owner being out of town for a week. I'm not sure how an owner being out of town keeps their management from picking up a phone or going online to place re-stocking orders with one's supplier but it certainly kept this place from filling out its menu. Speaking of which, their menu was tailored for a November climate (lot of heavy and starch-laden foods) so, in the middle of July, while looking for something fresh and light, I was stuck with either excuses (sorry, don't have that... the owner has been out of town) or anemic renditions of salads and charcuterie. This place just doesn't seem ready for business.
