Backyard Restaurant @ Solé East Ratings and Reviews
Took forever to even get seated. Hostess was MIA for most of the time. After finally being seated in the dark, we sat for about ten minutes with empty glasses before it became clear no one was coming to serve us. Left soon after that, one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Went to pizza village, would easily recommend going there instead.
They will not be around for long if they run their restaurant the way they did this past Saturday. Even though there was a concert going on, if you cannot provide proper service do not offer reservations or at the least communicate with your patrons rather than have very unorganized and unattatentive staff. After taking over thirty minutes to get a pitcher of water we should have left. A party of approximately fifteen people were seated next to us they received drinks, apps and even main courses before we even got our food. Their waiter even gave them free drinks because he was sorry they ran out of the fish. Several other tables in our area also had this problem of waiting for food and no staff around to see what was going on (maybe problem with waitress, who knows). After searching high and low for the manager he apologized went to check on the problem and promised the bill would be cut in half. He did find the food which was very good but when we finally got the check nothing was taken off. We just wanted to get out of there so we paid for the food and left. We could have easily left and not paid the bill as no one was around but we did eat our food and I know the right thing to do. I did stop in the lobby and spoke to someone that works at the front desk and assured me I would receive a call or email on Monday morning. I was holding off on writing this review but I do not want any other family trying to enjoy their summer to endure the embarrassment we went through on Saturday. For the price of the food and the overall experience, I do not recommend going here. Take your hard earned money and go to one of the many other amazing restaurants in montauk that will treat the costumer right.
Our server was basically absent while we were there. It took forever to get drinks or food. We had to go to the bar to even fill up our water glasses. The food was also just so-so. I was really surprised because this was one of my favorite spots to dine last year. The setting is still gorgeous though.
While the clam chowder was amazing, the rest of our dining experience was disappointing. There were bread plates on the table but we never received any or were offered any. Our entrees came and we didn't see our waiter again for a half hour. My husband and I would have liked another drink but there was no one to take our order. My husband finally flagged down our waiter so we could give him our dessert order, since supposedly they're known for dessert and great coffee. We should have skipped it. My creme brûlée was cold and they didn't have cream or half and half for the coffee just soy milk or skim. They took the dessert and coffees off our bill since our service was so bad. I can't blame the waiter, he also had two other tables with large parties at each but we were paying customers as well. Get more help or assign your tables to your waitstaff more evenly. We won't go back. It's too bad it was an interesting spot.
I was looking for a nice restaurant to accommodate a large party of 15 people. Despite I didn't have huge expectations regarding the size of our party and place that could accommodate all of us ( adults, teenagers and kids) last minute, we were all very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and amazing service . The whole staff was super kind, very efficient and provided all of us with great food recommendations.
The food was absolutely delicious, with a special mention for the seafood and chicken. The kids even had the pleasure to do roast their own smores in the garden.
This restaurant is a proper gem and I highly recommend it.
the space is lovely, the food was good but it is on the pricey side and considering this and the fact that the restaurant was not full or crowded, the fact that our party of 3 was in and out in under an hour felt rushed and rude.
As summer residents of Montauk we got to Sole often. It's a great atmosphere and the food is just terrific. Not cheap, but nothing is anymore in Montauk! They always have fresh fish and farm to table ingredients.
The scene is diverse enough that I don't feel like a grandma eating here!
we also like the property which is beautiful and spacious for kids to roam around.
Very unenjoyable. Terrible, delayed service. Cold food. Wrong drinks. Had to relocate tables midway through as they seated us at the furthest table from the heat lamp, despite speaking on the phone and confirming we'd have several lamps or be inside.
When I got to Sole East right away I knew my experience was going to be unpleasant. They were hosting some kind of Rave like concert. The staff was disorganized, there weren't enough chairs set at our table & it was very loud. Our warier refused to write our order down& kept forgetting things. My food was very salty & cold & that seemed to be the consensus at the table. Upon finishing our meal before being offered coffe or desert the check was thrown on our table- I would say it was one of my least favorite dinning experiences.
My daughter and I were on a mini vacation together and both she and I both enjoy dining outdoors as often as possible. The food was well prepared and flavorful, and definitely a hit with any foodie out there.. We will be back next year with the rest of the family.. It was wonderful.
Like most places out in theHamptons/Montauk- super over priced and pretty average food. Decent but not great for a $42 entree. I had scallops that were very fresh but little to no seasoning on anything. Beautiful location and pleasant service make up for price/blandness. It would have been nice to get more than one side since it was so expensive. Breakfast was decent, I had an omlette and again very pleasant service and gorgeous atmosphere.
Weve been dining there for over 6 years. Worst meal we've ever had. Mediterranean plate- burrata cheese looked like congealed butter , couldn't eat it. Mussels fishy tasting some over cooked others raw. Striped bass looked and tasted frozen and thawed- In Montauk?! Entrees came cold. New management? Need to improve big time. We hope this was just an aberration but hard to go back again
