We were seated by the hostess and it took 22 minutes to have someone come to our table after I got up to ask the host if anyone was coming. Our portion was very small and I believe it was because they were trying to get us our food fast to make up for waiting so long. It was a special occasion, a first date that just went didn’t start off rite by waiting for our first round of drinks. I love this place I was just disappointed this time.
Great place. Great food!
Thought the food was good and the service was friendly. Had a great cocktail and seafood. Family friendly until later then becomes more of a bar scene. Definitely would recommend.
Noise was too loud
We arrived and were told even though we made a reservation, they had no tables available. It was super loud and the hostess was rude, so we did not stick around.
The restaurant reaches atomic bomb levels of noise. Can't even hear someone across the table or the waitress can't hear your order.
Other than that, the food was good.
Very large restaurant with two bar areas. Great food and drinks, moderately priced. Reserved outdoor table and they set inside which was disappointing. Had large group, our waitress could have used help, slow to get our orders and foos. Overall would go again, maybe with smaller group
Delicious breakfast, chicken n waffles, gravy and biscuits, mimosa flight, Bloody Mary, fun, lively, great outdoor seating. We had tried 2 other nearby restaurants with long lines and happened into Backyard. So glad we did. They should have long lines based on our experience. We went back again a week later it was so good!
Great sports bar with delicious food!
I love Backyard. Great for brunch and the service is amazing! Go before 11 because it starts to get noisy.
Good food and ditto on the drink selection..
Nice variety of comfort food and beers. Ribs, mac and cheese, fish and chips, and fish tacos all hit the spot.
We started with their excellent Brussels sprouts and chips with blue cheese dip. We all ordered Bison burgers with sweet potato fries. Outstanding! For dessert we shared chocolate dipped strawberries which was a Valentine’s Day special, and the apple crumble. We will definitely be going back soon!
My wife was almost bitten by a dog that was at the bar. Later we found out that my mother in law was told to go to the other side of the bar to get to the restroom. My wife, who was with our 2 year old daughter, didn’t get that advise and was nearly bit by the the dog. Cleary they knew that the dog was mean but let it in anyways!
Came on a day with beautiful weather, which was nice because the partial open roof setting let in just the right amount of sunlight. Their bar (indoors) was open for seating as well. Brunch food was good - I highly recommend the chicken and waffles!
Tried out for restaurant week, not too impressive. The service was so slow, even to get our drinks. We ordered beers, which were served in warm plastic glasses. The food was good, but nothing special. When we were leaving, the girls at the front desk were too busy talking to each other to say goodbye as we walked out the front door.
Backyard Kitchen and Tap has a friendly casual vibe, large bar down in Pacific Beach. Tried a few dishes during restaurant week. The fried calamari was fun with a few surprises in the basket— fried slices of lemons and pepperonchinis. Shrimp was very good with pesto guacamole dip. We also had the ceviche, cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. They were all well prepared and tasty. The ahi burger is served rare, seared top and bottom. We had a good time and will come back.
I picked this restaurant to try during San Diego Restaurant Week. Located in Pacific Beach, so parking is always terrible.
Overall experience was fine. Staff was friendly and attentive. I brought my big dog. They brought her a bowl of water right away. There is also a doggie menu for your pet.
Unfortunately, our food service was very slow. It took a long time to get our appetizers, which was delicious. Our main dishes were under cooked, I could not even eat mine. We ran out of time, so we did not send our food back. We boxed our food to go. Not sure if my son will eat it.
Nice casual fun place with good foods. We will go back there again.
Attentive staff, decent portions, really good St. Louis ribs! Pretty open on a Thursday evening. We'll go back when it's warmer.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent!
We tried out this restaurant during Restaurant Week. Enjoyed the food. We will be back!
Casual dining with good food (roasted cauliflower) . Nice bar area and open outdoor concept.
Requested a table on the patio for 12 but were seated inside at a table for 12 persons. Experience was less impressive than 2 years before for this group size in terms of the quality of the food and the general atmosphere. Still worthwhile but experience depends very much on where you sit. Inside is like most sportsbars overwhelming with LED screens. Outside booths are more laud back Cali style coastal dining
Delicious food and variety and great atmosphere!
So dog friendly they even have a special dog's menu! Great burgers, large portions and good service. We went on Christmas Day as we were staying in the area. It was not busy and our server was attentive and very helpful. Fun place for a weekend lunch and the brunch menu looks great - good comfort food with fresh ingredients.
We really enjoyed the Backyard Kitchen and Tap. We had a variety of items (spaghetti squash, Brussels sprouts, chili, pulled pork, a salad, a burger, mac and cheese, sweet potato fries and regular fries) and EVERYTHING was excellent. There was live music that started at 7:30 and the band was quite good also. Lastly, the service was great.
Server was great...can't remember her name, but she is a math major! Love the ambiance and the booths :)
TVs we a little loud, had to shout to talk to my friends...
Great menu with lots of varied selections. Everyone in our large group of 15 found things they liked. They accommodated our group size easily. But it was NOISY! I didn’t help that hundreds of “Santa’s” descended upon the place during a stop on their pub crawl. Looked like fun for that crowd but it made for an uncomfortable time for our dinner group.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner with the family. We were so glad that they offered a traditional Thanksgiving feast, including a turkey and ham carving station, as well as the regular menu. The food was amazing!! Service was just okay, but will definitely go back again - probably for happy hour.
Went there for Thanksgiving . Food was great everything went good. All the fixings.
This is definitely a 'have to try' spot. The food is good, nice variety on the menu...limited beer selection which is surprising for a bar. The ambiance is well designed and enjoyable.
Come hungry, the portions are generous.
Place was defiantly a noisy place, but food made up for it. Very good pulled pork flatbread and the beef brisket was amazing.
This is a great place for adults but not so much for adults with kids. The atmosphere was just to loud and for MNF to many people crowding up on your groups table/booth.
Food was good drinks where good but too light on alcohol the old fashioned did not taste like a old fashioned it tasted watered down
Fantastic experience. Love the different indoor/outdoor settings. Great menu selection. Adult and kids menus. Fantastic drink menu.
It was about 5:30 when we arrived, it was super loud...lots of football fans. Tons of big screen TV's and bar seating.
It quieted down a bit by 6:30. Food was good, service was friendly, good timing and good beer selection.
Food was horrible.. beautiful restaurant and bar, so much potential
