Back Country Brewery + Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The place is nice in the bar area, I would come here for a beer but the food was a huge let down, I ordered Mac and Cheese and the sauce pretty much was like a soup on the bottom of the plate, and the rest of the family's food was nothing you would want to go out to eat and pay for. They need to step up their game on the food and the menu, if in the area sort of try and go to Dillion Dam Brewery and they will do it right, the way I expected this place to be.
The good news - the wheat beer and the pizza were good. The bad news - the artichoke dip was HORRIBLE and the bacon on their signature burger was so fatty that I tossed it. Our waiter screwed up our bill and our order - I ordered onion rings and received an up charged baked potato and he didn't correct our bill after I brought the mistake to his attention prior to presenting the bill. That cost him 10 percentage points off my standard 20-25% tip. So, in the future, we'll stop for a beer after the slopes and pass on the food altogether.
We went with a 6:30 reservation, when we got there it was busy. We waited for them to "bus" our table so we could sit for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes we asked and they said yes it is ready. They were very rude! The hostess was more worried about getting a better table for the boys she was flirting with. We got our beers, which were not anything impressive. We got our food which was good. For the price is was not worth dealing with the snoty hostess. Next time we plan to hit Breckenridge Brewing which is always packed, but they have better beers and alot better service!
Went there with some family as two of us wanted microbrews. Made a reservation for a Sunday night and glad I did as there were a lot of people. Seated very promptly. Had not been recently. Menu better than I remembered. All of group liked their meals. I had fish tacos and would like to have had corn tortillas instead of flour but they were otherwise very good. Beer excellent. Sasha was the hostess and she did fine. Explained a brief delay in getting the beers as the bar was backed up a little. Very attentive.
While they seated our group of 8 promptly at our resevered time, it all went down hill from there. Very slow service almost 3 hours to get in and out, waited for basic water refills, and order taking. Food was of subpar quality. Only good thing about the place was the good selection and taste of craft beers, food service and food quality is not there wheel house.
We went there on New Year's Eve. Should have been suspicious about being able to get a reservation on late notice. We arrived at 6:15 and were presented with the four New Year's Eve 3 Course Specials. My wife ordered the New York Strip. 20 minutes later they came back and informed us they were out of it. Let me repeat that, at 6:15 they were already out of the first thing on their special list. She ordered the lobster and shrimp scampi over pasta which was shrimp (she replaced the lobster with additional shrimp) in a puddle of butter with pasta.
I ordered the trout. It was a decent piece of fish but overdone. The vegetables that came with it were either boiled for hours or, more likely, out of a bag from the freezer. They were textureless and tasteless.
The waiter was professional but overworked. The maitre d' looked overwhelmed.
I do not recommend this restaurant.
We made a reservation to sit outside; we checked and said we were going to have a drink at the bar 1st they told us to just let them know when we were ready to sit. We did, but they gave our table away so we were stuck with 2 small high tops put together for the 6 of us. Guess reservations do not mean anything. I tried the fish and chips before, and they were terrible, so this time two of us tried the French Dip. It was fatty and tasteless [my guest told me the next day that the food upset his stomach]. The rest of our party had burgers which were fine.
We enjoy their beer and happy hour appetizers. The chicken wings our boys ordered were way too done making the chicken chewy and not as much meat on the bones. One of my boys who ordered the buffalo sauce on his head hardly any on it. That was a quick fix, we just asked waiter for more and he brought him some. The sides of ranch for the wings weren't even half way filled in the tub, to dip wings in. We ordered a large basket of fries to share and the order only filled a third of the basket. My spinach artichoke dip was very good, just not quite enough of it and it was supposed to come with veggies and chips and I only got 2 carrots and celery. It was just kind of pitiful portions and food not cooked right.
First, I made a reservation for 6:30 pm and we arrived at 6:23 pm and we were seated, now our troubles began. Our waiter totally ignored us. After waiting 15 minutes , I complained to the host. The Host said that the server will be right over. He never showed up. However, he served other customers who arrived after we did. My wife than complained also. Finally the host came and gave us water and took our order.
When my meal arrived, there was a human hair in it , not belonging to either of us. Trying to make amends the host halved the bills. We will not eat there again, nor will we recommend it to our friends.
This unpleasant experience cost us two and half hours of our lives!
Back Country Brewery is a typical inexpensive, fried food and "basket" grill where everything is served with a side of fries and coleslaw. That said, the fish & chips were delicious with lots of fish served in the basket and their beers are quite good. TVs everywhere ensure that the focus is not on the food or beer. On a Friday night the place was mobbed so service was adequate at best.
Seated at table for 3 for our party of 4 and squeezed the highchair in to make it work. Saw the waitress for the first time about 7:10 and ordered our dinners - salad, 2 kids spaghetti dinners and catfish platter. At 8 pm I called the waitress over and asked her to let the kitchen know that we were very impatient having been here now an hour. She expressed that she too was frustrated and knew just how we felt. Pointing to the squirming two year old now on my lap, I told her I doubted if she knew exactly how we felt. Her reply was that we only had two impatient people and she had half a restaurant full. Our dinners finally came out at 8:20. Food was ok but somewhat irrelevant after the terrible service and poor attitude of the server.
Our entire experience was completely awesome thanks to Duncan who took the utmost care of our group of 20! He was very attentive, always present when we needed him, handled 8 kids and their orders masterfully and always made sure the adults had everything we needed, i.e. drinks and food!
We had a large group and made reservations. We showed up on time and were not seated until 25 min after our reservation time. The staff literally had 3 servers to handle the entire bar and wait tables for the rest of the place. After we were finally seated, we waited about 15 min for water and to place a drink order. Our drinks didn't make it to us within 30 min. Finally a few people from our group went to the bar with our empty water carafes and got refills and made the bar tender fill our beers and wine orders. Let me remind you that this is a brewery.
The rest of the night was very similar. Over 3 hours total for the entire dinner and that didn't include appetizers or desert.
We walked in and were told there was a 2 hour wait, even though there were multiple open tables in the restaurant. We were able to make a reservation through OT for a half hour later, which the hostess did not like. She sat us before our reserved time, but it took about 15 minutes for a server to come to the table. Food was great. Typical brewpup food, but prepared well. Beer was excellent.
Several online reviews mentioned poor service. The waiter was very good, but overwhelmed. The front of the house needs to learn how to mange the areas so people are not waiting so long. In addition, the food was all overcooked. We doused it with ketchup or gravy in order to eat it.
This is basically a bar that serves food. Drink enough and you don't notice the the poor service and the overcooked, overpriced food.
The service was terrible! The wait staff was more concerned with cleaning tables than waiting on customers. We sat for 20 minutes with wait staff all around us, unwilling to wait on or even greet us! I finally had to go to the hostess stand, wait again, and request help at our table. The food was ok, nothing great. Cold fries and several reminders on things they forgot with the meal. Overall a big thumbs down! We will never return!
Dined and beer tasted there twice on our thanksgiving vacay last week. The regular menu was good, ate pizza and beer mmmmm. We also ate the Thanksgiving buffet there, which was decent. After we ate our 1st serving the waiter asked if we wanted the check. Only 25 mins.had passed, so yeah we felt a bit rushed considering it was Thanksgiving and a buffet we paid for. We politely responded, "no" and continued w our Thanksgiving convo. The family continued w/ dessert etc.and I suppose the waitor realized we weren't going anytime soon because he didn't ask again to bring the check. Anyhow, he redeemed himself w his knowledge about the beers he shared when we asked, so we ended up leaving w happy faces.
I love going here for any meal. They also have a great happy hour. The lettuce wraps were very good, kind of Thai-flavored. Fish n chips looked excellent although I didn't try them. Maybe next time. Chili also looked very very good - hearty and a lot of it!
