Back Burner Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We were very pleased with our dining experience at Back Burner. Although we were first seated at a table where the music was too loud and screeching, we changed to a quieter area where the music was less annoying. The menu was quite versatile for Easter brunch--many desirable choices. The table setting is especially appealing with tablecloth and napkins. The tiny muffins served were not especially good but the brownie sundae was delicious. The bread selection could improve but the other foods served met our expectations.
A hidden gem for foodies. We've been back twice in one month. Super wait staff and a very cozy atmosphere. We had the pork belly appetizer at both meals and its the best we've had outside of La Fia in Wilmington and Fond in Philly. Really good food at reasonable prices. This restaurant will definitely be in the rotation!
Hostess and waiter (Tristan) were very pleasant and attentive. Food was wonderful, and we all had different entrees which each of us (4) thought were really tasty. Love that there are 2 sizes for entrees and salads. We'll be returning soon, but probably not on 1/2 price burger night. A little too noisy for a relaxing dinner. Also, a little disappointed that the house Chardonnay was $11. Next time I'll pay more attention to the wine menu. All in all, a nice evening.
My friend and I had an early lunch at 11:30. We were the second patrons to arrive. Thus, it was very quiet and the service was prompt and attentive. The pumpkin mushroom soup was traditionally wonderful as well as the tasty flat bread always served with the meals. The house salad was perfect.
My wife had their surf and turf special, filet and a crab cake. She rarely has crab cakes out, as most are not as good as her own. She was very happy with her choice. I had an excellent strip steak. The atmosphere is warm, and the service was attentive, but not intrusive.
We had not been to Back Burner for years. But the great reviews recently made us want to see for ourselves. What a marvelous dinner! Service was good on a Saturday night. Wine list was great and prices were fair. The ambiance there is superb. The menu had lots of nice choices at very reasonable prices. However, the most important feature was that the food, all of it, was superb. We had pumpkin soup, shrimp lemon for appetizers and ahi tuna and the new seafood in tomato sauce entrees. Highly recommend all of them. The value for Back Burner is among the best in this area - we will be going there often.
The Back Burner proved to be a mixed bag. My wife and I had dinner there on a Saturday night, and while the food was delicious the service was atrocious. Our waitress disappeared for long stretches of time, requiring us to track her down just to refill our water. We ordered drinks – my wife asked for a glass of cabernet and I ordered a draft beer – and it took the better part of 30 minutes before they were brought out.
The wait time for the food was also astonishing: Neither of us ordered anything unusual or off-menu, but from beginning to end, the meal lasted 1h 45 min. And to top it off, they prepared my entree incorrectly. But by the time it arrived at the table, we were so hungry – and so concerned about extending the wait time even more – that I simply took the entree they brought.
They offered to comp us a dessert, but we passed. When I checked the bill before leaving, they had charged us for more drinks than we actually ordered.
Again, the food itself was outstanding. But the incredibly slow service – and sloppy attention to detail – guarantees that we won't be going back anytime soon.
Sadly service was so slow took 20 minutes to get veg side to main course not second drink asked for x 2 maitre d' couldn't be less concerned waitress nice but didn't make up for slow kitchen and mediocre food . At higher end restaurant they would not switch a search for a vegetable really . Sad used to be do great
We had a special Valentine's Day dinner and it was outstanding. The mushroom soup and the stuffed mushrooms were delicious as starters. We both had the lamb as the entree and it was prepared to perfection with the cauliflower puree and roasted brussels. We will definitely return for other special occasions.
We went to the Back Burner for Valentines Day. We had an early reservation and it was not crowded. Service was excellent and the food is delivered promptly. I had the seared scallops and my wife had filet mignon. Both were very good, I especially like the large meaty scallops with polenta and pepper relish. We enjoyed the desserts - Creme brûlée and bread pudding. An enjoyable night.
Had a birthday celebration with a good friend. Arrived at 5 pm for happy hr and 1/2 price appetizers. Had the fireplace room to ourselves. Had 1/2 bottle of wine with a beautiful dinner afterwards in same room. They then brought is a free dessert for my birthday. Bringing hubby back for a date night as well. Wonderful night!
Everything was so tasty! We went for a special birthday celebration. I had called ahead to make note of that, hoping for a candle or something. Little disappointed that nothing was done in recognition of that. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was terrific. Service was fine.
Excellent as always! Our favorite restaurant for many years. Wait staff always friendly and remember names do customers. Excellent explanation of menu selections and specials. Ingredients are always fresh and many time local. We try to go there as often as possible.
