Food was served lukewarm, the service was really attentive. The chef sounded like he was pounding a huge piece of meat and because it is an open kitchen, it was very distracting.

Nice menu. Good value on the specials. The food was very good. Steaks done perfectly. Crab cakes with little if any filler. Nice sized salads and decent kids menu. The service seemed a bit off. Our server, was nice but seemed stressed as if having to cover too many tables. It took a while to get our wine and bread after ordering and asking for it. I had also used the “Special Occasion-Birthday” setting when making my OpenTable reservation as it was for my wife’s birthday. However, there was absolutely no acknowledgment of the occasion by either the hostesses nor the server. Although restaurants will often acknowledge special occasions with a complimentary beverage, appetizer, or dessert, even if they do not, a simple acknowledgement (“Happy birthday!”) would have been nice. It is likely that the hostesses, who see the reservations come in, did not inform the server of the occasion.

We love The Back Burner and eat there several times a month. We love their menu and the atmosphere and the servers are so friendly. Shout out to Sam and Tristan, our personal favorites! We just got home from Burger Night and their new Burger Night menu is nothing short of amazing. It’s like the old favorites of Burger Night kicked up a notch and really well done. Also, as a complete side note, their House Red blend is one of my very favorites. I so wish they would bottle it for sale. Definitely recommend.

Excellent Saturday lunch - we had enough to cover dinner! The six of us enjoyed each item ordered - pumpkin mushroom soup, soup du jour, smoked pork belly mac, blue cheese, poached pear salad, crab cake, filet, brownie sundae, and creme brulee. Unhurried dining in a lovely setting, recommended for special occasions.

Menu choices & our selections were outstanding. Waited 20 minutes for our waiter to first greet us due to mixup but service was good from that point on.

We had a very pleasant extended evening. Our dinners were very good although the shrimp and crab bisque did not stand up to the restaurants traditional Pumpkin Mushroom and made me wish I had ordered what I usually enjoy. My lamb chop was perfectly cooked the medium rare I had requested. I'm not sure what the vegetables were on the plate but they were quite mushy.

Best of all was the service. My friend has been ill and is on multiple dietary restrictions. Our server was very patient as he assisted her in selecting her meal.

Made a reservation as alway on Open Table and this was the first time they did not honor my request. They were unaware of my request for a booth, showing no-one read the reservation request. We were forced into a small table which really ruined our experience. It would have been nice if front of house actually was prepared. The kitchen and rest of staff were great.

We were celebrating Valentines Day. After shrimp and lobster bisque, and crab stuffed mushrooms, we had crab and lobster risotto, and twin filet mignon. All was excellent. We finished the meal with chocolate covered strawberries, gelato, chocolate truffle and a madeline. While near capacity, the noise level was low. Service was prompt and courteous.

The food was excellent, especially our favorite pumpkin mushroom soup! Salmon must have been 10 oz, seafood potpie definitely enough for two. The portions are so large we are going to split an entree and a soup in future. That will help with the pricetag which retirees can't afford more than once. Server was very frazzled and jumpy and we were seated in the bar, so that adversely impacted the ambience. I have not been to the Back Burner in maybe a decade or more and I hope to return, next time to sit in the dining room.

First time coming to the Back Burner. Our waiter was very nice however he only told us 2 specials when we overhead another waitress give four. One of which my husband would have preferred over the steak special. Had no flavor. I got the crab cake. Very good. Would like to try the lunch menu.

Our dinner was excellent and a good value. We had the surf and turf special which included a petite filet and either shrimp scampi or a crab cake. The fish of day was also perfectly cooked and very tasty. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very professional and proficient We appreciated her menu recommendations.

Dinner was delicious tonight! One of our favorite places to come to on a Monday night! Our waitress, Sam, was wonderful and very helpful! Dad got a wedge salad, and Mom and I both ordered the New England Clam Chowder, which was yummy and had more shrimp than clams in it. For the main course, Mom ordered the leg of lamb, while Dad and I ordered the shrimp scampi. It was delicious! I would definitely order it again! Chef Jeff is AMAZING! For dessert, Dad and I both ordered Woodside Ice Cream. Dad had chocolate and vanilla and I had plain chocolate ice cream! We first went to this place a few years ago and it was really good, then we stopped going for a little while because the food wasn't so good, and now that they've changed, it's awesome again! I would definitely recommend this place to anybody on a Monday night. It's less crowded and very quiet there.

Wonderful time; well worth the drive if you’re anywhere near the area. Had marinated steak tips; very good; friend had orange chicken that might have been a little too spicy. Other couple had compliments for ribs and shepherds pie. Chocolate martini and scotch to top it off. What’s not to like. Great place.

Their menu doesn’t change as much as other places but what they do they do very well. I also appreciate a well thought out interesting delicious vegetarian entree. Love the Monday night specials both food and half price wine. This will be our go to Monday spot for sure.

Went on a Saturday evening & there was a nice crowd. Our mushrooms stuffed w/crab could have been much hotter when served, but then the main dishes were fine. I had the pasta which was very good & my husband had the small filet, which was quite small for a man, but we also had a side so he was fine. Our drinks were good, our servers were all very courteous & it was a nice evening.

Service was not good. Forgot to bring bread; didn't refill water without being asked; food came out at different times. Years ago we used to eat at Back Burner frequently; now only a few times per year. Food just isn't as good as it used to be, except for the pumpkin mushroom soup which is always great.

My wife & I always love this place and dine here frequently. We enjoyed surf & turf night, however although service here is always great, this evening we went it was a little less attentive than normal. We waited longer than we would have liked for our server to greet us (about 20 minutes - to be fair we were waiting on 2 people, but we would have loved a drink or appetizer while we waited for their arrival. Our server was also very distracted and did not greet us just walked up and asked us if we wanted a drink. After our entrees were delivered, 2 of our guests ordered their filet medium rare and it was served medium well. When asked how everything was, we tried to tell our server and she walked away as she was very distracted the whole dinner. During dinner, it was difficult to find her for refills on wine, margaritas. Not the norm that we experience here. I typically rate this restaurant a 5, however this time I just can't because of the service. Overall though, a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back!

Once we were seated, our experience was excellent. The delay in seating us was that the party occupying our table had continued to stay after dinner for a total of 3 1/2 hours. This is probably not unusual at holiday time and does put the staff in a very awkward position. After we explained that we had among us a guest who was unwell did they prevail on insisting that the previous party vacate. I'm not sure what the appropriate action is in this situation but after we intervened, they did respond.
