Back Bay Social Club Ratings and Reviews
Restaurant food was mediocre just as service. Requested items to be returned to kitchen because of plates, cups, and silverware were not clean and did not receive anything back. Staff should have better communication and be more attentive of their customers. This was overall, a disappointing experience.
I must say at the beginning it was disappointing the plates were cold The fries were cold my hamburger was overcooked ( I had asked for medium rare and I got medium well) I sent it back and I got an amazing dry aged medium rare hamburger delicious... absolutely delicious but they should serve it on a hot plate!!! Come on!!
Had my birthday dinner and had a great time! I was even given a complimentary piece of the orange blossom cake with a candle on it! Had the chicken and waffles for my meal and it was very good, although the waffles were not hot, so the butter didn't melt. Overall very happy with the experience and recommend it. I plan to return!
We enjoyed the meal. Decent food, but a little pricey. You are paying for the location. Patio tables are sized for 2-3 people max as they are little round cafe tables. This makes it ackward for a party of 5 to feel comfortable. Additionally, the tables were pretty unstable, this greatly adds to the discomfort level. Change the table situation and the experience would be rated higher.
Dined with a group of 5 here on Friday night. The pizza is pretty fantastic, but the rest of the meals were less than spectacular. The calamari was overcooked, and the tuna was not the freshest, especially considering the prices of the dishes.. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. This was fine for a quick dinner, but as a repeat customer, I'm not sure I'll be back with so many other better options around for a similar price.
My family and I were very happy with the atmosphere at the restaurant and the service was great. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the restaurant for dinner and felt that my salmon was cooked a bit more than the medium temperature that I ordered. My fiancee, father-in-law, and friend all ordered steak frites and all three felt the dish was cold. Despite the quality of our food, the server was friendly and promptly responded to all requests. I would recommend this as a great place to meet for drinks with friends, but not for dinner.
We were able to get seated quickly, however it took a very long time for food to come out. Our server was very apologetic about it, however it was frustrating to see tables around us be seated after us and have their plates cleared before we were even served. It was also very loud, we were sitting close together and could barley hear each other talk.
We were disappointed because the menu online is completely different than the actual menu. We ended up only staying for a drink and leaving. I would call them first to make sure they have updated their online menu before booking based on what you see. They were very nice about it and explained that the menu had just changed over, bought our drinks for us and we left.
I had the Social Club Burger, it was served on a basic bread roll . I think it was a Wonder Bread hamburger roll. The burger was underwhelming and not cooked properly. One side was raw the other medium. I found out after I consumed one half. I ordered it medium well.
I can buy the same tasting beef from a local Star Market.
For $23 the I would expect a much better tasting burger on a quality bun.
I'm not going back!
I had never been here but husband raved about the brunch. I believe brunch is worth it here for the chicken & waffles dish. I got the avocado toast because I had indulged all weekend, and it was pretty lack luster but the side of bacon I asked for was more than generous. We're big time Bloody Mary connoisseurs. I got the spicy BM, and I ended up having to add my own hot sauce to it. It wasn't by any means bad, but it wasn't spicy.
One other thing that I really hate to experience anywhere I go, is the smell of sewage near the bathrooms. They were downstairs and away from our table, but you smelled it before even walking into the women's room. It could just be an old building, but a little unpleasant nonetheless.
Our avocado toast had hardly any avocado and I think the chicken and waffles needs sauces on the side since the BBQ is a very acquired taste. I'd also add some maple syrup to the chicken and waffles (also on the side).
The avocado toast to remedied but we really shouldn't have had to ask for more avocado since it was $14 and worth about $9.
This was the third time here for my wife and I. Our first time we came for dinner and had some very tasty steak/beef dishes, good wine and beer. On our second visit we did a Saturday brunch which was an excellent experience, and the food was outstanding. We had some of the best chicken and waffles and huevos rancheros that we've ever had in and around the Boston area accompanied by some delightful mimosa's. The most recent time that we came for dinner wasn't nearly as enjoyable as the previous two times. We arrived at 7:00 PM and as soon as we sat down our conversation was drowned out by competing birthday and engagement parties. The beer and Wine options were once again good, but both appetizers and dinner salads really lacked in flavor and complexion. Given that our previous two experiences were quite good, we're willing to just chock this one up as a one-off for Back Bay Social Club!
