Back Bay Social Club
Need to book at 9:45 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
They were very accommodating when I called and changed the number on the reservation. It took us over 20 minutes to be seated (with reservation). Host was very polite and friendly. It took a long time to put in an initial drink order and subsequent order. It is a great place and would give it another go; any place can have an off night.
Short on staff on New Year’s Day Everything took a long time. Even with a reservation we were 30 minutes late to get a table. Only one bartender so never was able to order a drink while we waited and then it took 30 minutes to get drinks at our table
Went for New Year’s Day brunch
Waited twenty min for waiter to come over
Say with empty drinks during the meal
Otherwise it was good -really noisy, but cool decor and good food
We had a rezzie for 16. They seated us at a space meant for 12, which we squeezed into. Half the group was served drinks in a reasonable amount of time, the other half of the group still hadn’t been asked for their drink order after an hour at the table. It was busy but not that busy. We finally left after apps (pizzas and flatbreads) almost 2 hours into it. Flatbreads were good, the pizzas were meh. The waitress could care less, the manager tried his best, but in the end this was a fail.
Fun atmosphere and good food.
Like too many restaurants, too damn loud. Shouting across our table just to have a conversation. Food just okay, service uneven.
Excellent food that was reasonably priced. Casual and fun atmosphere.
We really enjoyed the initial attention upon arrival and getting seated. Our waiter was good at first by getting our drinks and food orders. But after that, we had to flag him down several times to get a missing drink and coffee refills. He was working behind the bar and getting drinks for other tables so I would say this is more of the restaurant not staffing properly since there were several tables occupied for brunch and he was making a lot of drinks.
Back Bay Social Club has a lot of great qualities. The location is awesome, Boylston St. across from the Pru. They have a great patio, though it was a rainy December night when we went so we didn't get to eat there. Our server was amazing. He took excellent care of us the entire time. The scene was pretty bumping on a Friday evening. If you're looking for a fun, energetic night out, this is a good place. I wouldn't recommend it for a cozy date night. Our food was good, not amazing, but solid. I enjoyed the burger I ordered, but I found the $23 price tag to be a bit excessive. They don't have a kids menu listed, but did have kids options that the server told us. Solid restaurant!
Worst dining experience I have ever had! Service was terrible, we were seated in a 3 season patio in the winter, we had to wait 20+ minutes to be seated despite making a reservation, when we were eventually moved we had to wait endlessly for a server... and that was just the service! The food was awful, pizza that could have been microwaved with no discernible flavor. Reminded me of airplane food. The drinks were CLEARLY watered down. I am no connoisseur but even I could tell that the cocktails tasted like tap water. If you want to skimp on the booze (and so many places in this city do, to save a buck), at least add extra soda so I can't tell the difference! It was a Friday night but early enough that it was almost empty, there is no excuse for not doing better.
What a pleasant surprise! We walked in just after the Santa Pub Crawl people arrived and it was noisy, yet happy & spirited. After they left the noise level went down & it was great! The food was really good! Brussel sprouts appetizer was the best I've ever had- flavorful & great textures. Their sweet potato fries were also amazing crispy on the outside with perfect sprinkling of salt (now that sweet potato fries are everywhere I had begun to believe no one knows how to make good ones, but Back Bay Social does!). One member of our party had fish & chips and to our amazement it was made with very fresh fish.
I went to celebrate my birthday with a large group and had so much fun! Our server was amazing at making sure we had everything even though it was a busy Friday night. Will definitely be going again.
Turns out to be a great place for Thanksgiving. I was alone for the holidays, but had an amazing meal at Back Bay Social Club.
The prime rib Saturday special was absolutely to die for. Might be the best prime rib I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere and location!!
We had a wonderful experience. Our table was ready on time. The waiter was very friendly and helpful with suggestions to items on the menu. We were there for close to 2 hrs on a busy Saturday night and never felt rushed or as if they wanted us to wrap it up. Over all is was great night out with the girls.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The bone in ribeye was amazing and the social burger is soo far one of the best burger I ever tried.Everyone loved they half roasted chicken and the scallops
.Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Great food and service
We went for brunch on Sunday and it was terrible! Extremely understaffed and no one knew who was responsible for our table we had two different servers who were not communicating at all. We ordered drinks which did not hit the table for 30 minutes and we asked multiple times and each time they said they were coming. Both servers cane to the table at different times saying that the ice tea had to be remade because they had to throw it out which I do not believe and definitely not customer service. I also ordered a small stack pancakes and the bottom pancake was so hard I could have used it as a frisbee. Even though we complained a manager never came to our table which is quite unacceptable. No one seemed to want to take responsibility for the situation and kept blaming the ice tea which is quite laughable. Definitely not the usual service standards... and the food was questionable
Food and service was fantastic great place to meet friends. Drinks are a little pricey but not much more than other venues on Boylston.
We didn't receive our appetizer until 45 minutes in, no main courses until an hour 15 in, and no refills on beverages were offered.
Service was not good. Short saffed, food came to the table cold. Very disappointing.
Hidden gem! Really enjoyed the menu and vibe of the place!
Great location, great restaurant and food. The staff is so nice there but I won't forget the waiter Antonio(Tony) he made sure I was comfortable and satisfied with the chicken and waffle meal I ordered. Great place to just chill and eat out with friends, and it's right across from prudential center and basically a few minutes in front of Newbury street for people who are shopping around or travelers touring Boston. I definitely recommend the restaurant.
Good drinks, quick service
Overall, I recommend against it. Three of us got pizzas and none of us liked them. Waiter was nice but clueless, although the manager was very professional, responsive, and nice. Way too many other good options in Boston to waste your time or taste buds on this place.
It was too hot, too noisy and the service was terrible. Not enough servers for the number of reservations.
Great place for brunch. Awesome server and atmosphere. Chicken and waffles were great and can’t beat the dollar oysters.
Food was decent, but what was really off-putting was the horrible service. It wasn’t even busy during brunch, but the staff was not attentive at all. We had to ask for water to be refilled! Not a great experience
The service leaves a lot to be desired. Several of the things we discussed with out server were not executed at all. I ordered a blue moon with an orange and specifically asked for the orange when he didnt mention it and it still came without one and I had to ask again. I ordered cheeseburger eggrolls which were fantastic. My scallops were also cooked perfectly. However the risotto that accompanied them was bland and tasteless. It pretty much ruined the dish. My wife ordered clam chowder which was mediocre at best. It was a nice place for young people to gather and drink if they weren't expecting too much from the dishes. It was clean and nice. I wouldn't mind getting a drink and aps there but wouldnt go out of my way to visit again.
I went with my 20 something son and friends and they loved it. For me there was no air conditioning and and the food was super heavy. I wouldn't go back but my son really liked it.
Inside was too loud. Ate outside which was very nice.
Way too loud to eat dinner in there at 7pm at night. We couldn't have a conversation at all. It was more like being in a bar with the music so loud. The calamari is good but you get more peppers than actually calamari so I'd skip that. Short rib sliders are very good. Service is hit or miss....we've been several times. Not rude or anything but another restaurant that thinks it's appropriate to clear empty tables while no one is waiting for them instead of waiting on their current guests. It's ok. I wouldn't ban them but I wouldn't race back either.
Classic American tavern but lots of good food and drink options. One of my favorite places. Great for groups of friends, birthdays, etc.
The service was very slow, and no one explained why.
First time dining there for quick dinner. Great service. Excellent cocktail. The short rib dinner was tasty, a bit under cooked but very flavorful. The roasted root vegetables were flavorful slightly mushy finely julienned cut. Overall reasonably priced. Would return.
Delicious burger and fun atmosphere to watch the game!
The dollar oysters (weekdays 5-7, weekends 11-3:30) were a good deal until they imposed a limit of one dozen. Also, they have Down East cider on tap.
Service is truly horrible. Waiters are slow and always walk quickly past your table without making eye contact. Other than the oysters, the food is horrible. Everything is overly flavored and unnecessarily heavy with too much oil, cream and butter.
Also, we had been going twice a month for a year for the dollar oysters but suddenly yesterday we were told there is a one dozen limit.
Lovely patio on a beautiful night. However, the food was fair and service somewhat loose.
It was nice eating outside on a pretty, sunny day in Boston. Bread basket was the best pasrt of our brunch. Tried to love the flight of Bloody Mary's but the tiny mason jars they came in made it so hard to drink them.
