Back Bay Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The ambiance was very generic and very average inside. For the amount of the Sunday Brunch I was expecting a more elegant experience for $39 per person. It used to be a little better with table cloths on the tables. The tables were very boring and needed a cover. It was also very very loud in the cavernous room. Then need to add carpet to keep the noise level down.
The restaurant was clean and the view of the Back Bay puts a guest at ease immediately. The food was good but not memorable. My companion enjoyed the large shrimp and crab and I enjoyed the omelet station. I think they should add a selection of breads and bagels that can be toasted. The staff was attentive and friendly. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
Their Sunday Brunch is one of the best. All types of great food, there is something for everyone. The view is outstanding looking over the back bay and Newport Aquatic Center. The service was outstanding. Even though it was a buffet, our waiter made sure our drinks were always filled with champagne, water and coffee. Their valet parking was easy. Well worth the money.
I went with a group of friends for a Birthday celebration. The staff was very friendly - our waiter was very friendly and paid extra attention to the Birthday Girl. Everyone was very happy with the meal - from appetizer, to salads, to main dishes, and of course, the special birthday cake. The John Dory fish entree was excellent as was the Chilean Sea Bass. One of the girls had the seafood chowder and was super excited about the taste. All in all it was a great dinner and the view was spectacular! Highly recommend for any special occasion.
Great view, atmosphere, service and food. Started with the Bay Scallop Ceviche and all I can say is YUMMY! Wife had the fish and chips, daughter had the Calamari steak and I had the Salmon. They were all delicious. For desert we had the cheesecake and lava cake, neither disappointed. Our server was attentive and responsive. Will definitely be back.
I'm always looking for fun, interesting new places to eat close to home and I've been wanting to try this place. Went here for a casual summer date night and sat outside. Perfect sunset view, outstanding service and the food was delicious. Pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back!
We are locals and live less than a mile from
Back Bay. We would come enjoy this gem
Of a location if the service and management was buttoned up. Our food was great but all service was shocking. Different wines being poured into the same glass, rushing to take our food away when we hadn't eaten 1/2 of the plate yet and general below average attitude. We would urge a strong relook at the servicing team and management.
Well we went there because we were staying at RV park. Don't opt for higher end choices. Stick with sandwiches, burger, and salads. Prime rib tough and low quality. John Dorey okay but expensive. Most items over priced. If they were well executed that would be one thing but most were sadly average like the food you'd expect from a bar and grill. :( This place should lower their prices - or offer something more impressive.
Always wanted to try the Back Bay Bistro as a local.
Made reservations for us and out of town guests and to celebrate 3 birthdays after being on a duffy. We first we were seated outside with no lighting at 8:00 and as the sun was going down we knew that we would be eating in the dark so we moved inside the restaurant.
Very quiet on a Friday night and sat under a fan that not only made noise but was cold!
Food was fair, sort of dissapointing for a cafe with a great location...:(
We love this place for their amazing Sunday brunch. Great food and service. The downside on other days for lunch or dinner is the EXTREME noise factor!!!!! Would be great if they had a division between the bar and dining room, or carpet on the floor, or something in the ceiling to absorb the sound. Way too loud to hear yourself think! And that's from someone who LOVES this place!
This was our first time at the Back Street Bistro. Really enjoyed the calamari steak. The view of the back bay from the restaurant included nice boats, kayakers and paddle boarders, and the homes on the back bay. Because of the public boat launch ramp being right next to the restaurant finding parking was a little challenging. Fortunately we were there early for dinner on a Saturday and were able to use one of the spots right near the restaurant entrance.
We love this restaurant's Sunday Brunch menu. Everything is excellent....cold...hot...you name it. Each time we attend, we do notice that the service, while friendly and courteous, can be a little patchy. That is, it can take a while to flag down a server for coffee refills, condiments, etc.
That said, we drive almost 90 minutes in each direction with BBB as our sole destination and every friend we've invited to join us is always pleased. A great stop for a wonderful Sunday midday meal!
There a only a few restuarants on the bay where you can take a Duffy to and tie up. Back Bay Bistro is one of them. Regretfully, they just don't have what it takes to make dining a pleasureable experience. The food was good but the service was so bad that it spoiled the Birthday celebration for our 8 year grandson. The restuarant is understaffed and the servers need more training in taking care of the diners. They just don't get it!
The location is what makes this place anything above one star. The service was good. The iced tea was good. The food was not good at all. I ordered the Parisan Chicken Sandwich. It says that it's a grilled chicken breast, however it is not a REAL chicken breast as one would expect at a "nice place." It reminded me of what I would expect from a fast food place- it was some sort of pressed meat made to resemble a chicken breast. It was the furthest thing from appetizing. I took the "chicken" out of my sandwich and it was pretty tasty without the "chicken" in it. So, maybe order it without chicken?? The creme brûlée was good, minus the disgusting moldy raspberry on top. I think they just don't care what they serve because people still come. Skip it if you want edible food.
The view is incredible from this bistro by the Bay. Prices were fine and food was good, would not say any dish was spectacular but everything was very nice. Service was fantastic and they validate your parking (they should publicize this to get more people to come to restaurant). We will return to this hidden gem.
We went to Back Bay Bistro to have a meal and watch the fireworks. The Bistro did not tell us there was a $50 (Fifty) dollar parking fee. (This was a city requirement). They should have told us. The food was a buffet which we expected but it was nothing special. We will not use the Bistro for another 4th of July!!!!
We had a 1:30 reservation for brunch on a sat. The reservation said we had until 3:30 but wasnt told brunch was only served until 2:00. When I made reservation I said it was for brunch. I was very unhappy as this was a Birthday gift. The food was cold and flies were around the desert table. The price was expensive compared to the food quality. Worst brunch i have ever been to.
