could not be better, excellent, service, food, excellent
Back Bay Bistro provided a great atmosphere coupled with amazing food in generous portions at a great value! We had our first visit on Sat. July 6th, and despite it being a holiday weekend, we were seated within minutes of our reservation time; I definitely DO recommend making a reservation, though, if you're able, or there may be a bit of a wait. Everything we had was delicious, the service was impeccable, and it made for a great dining experience; we will definitely be returning!
Do not go to this restaurant if you have a time constraint. They seated us 15 mins after our reservation time. The server took 10 mins to even come to our table. We told her we had a hard stop (which was 75 mins after our Rez time BTW). We ordered immediately (no appetizers, just entrees ). Our food arrived 10 minutes before we had to leave. Server was very nice but I think they overbook causing a back up in seating and overwhelming the kitchen.
We may have hit an off night as this place gets great reviews. Service was slow and food was ok but not great. But the BIG Advice: if you are BYOB, make that clear. I'm fine with byob but make it clear when making a booking.
Bay bay never disappoints. Good sevice, great food and value.
Consistently amazing food.
The food was good, prices are reasonable. The restaurant is very clean and the servers are very nice.
Our waitress was the best - very attentive and always smiling. The food was fabulous!
The food here is consistently good and the pizza is the best around. The prices are great too. Always a hit!
Service was good and my Eggs
Benedict were cooked perfectly.
We will be back again for Sunday brunch .
We go there a few times each year. The food is great. The portions are large. The price is very reasonable. There is s lot of parking. The service is nice. It is s nice looking place but very noisy.
Great food and service. It has become a favorite of ours while visiting the Jersey Shore. My flounder was the best I can remember. Keep up the good work and I’m looking forward to our next visit.
Location was good, place was cute. Our food was not good- my prime rib I ordered medium but got it well. I’m not one to complain so I ate it but did not enjoy it. The table next to us refused to eat theirs and were complaining of the same thing. The service was goos at first but then tapered off and we waited a very long time to get our meals and pay (probably bc they were over cooking the meat!!!). Based upon the limited number of options in cape May I would go again but will stick to pasta.
Was disappointed with this visit, service was really slow and backed up and the food was not up to snuff. Our table was the last served and we were last to leave despite having a much earlier reservation. We're not sure if we will return without an explanation.
Great food for a great price
We are never disappointed. Excellent food and service. Our waitress was called in to work last minute and she was awesome. A real hometown experience every time. We will definitely be regulars.
Every time we eat there breakfast or dinner always good meals. Recommend as a place to eat.
Very nice experience. Staff was excellent
First time at the back bay bistro on Easter Sunday for brunch and our party of 6 was very happy with the food, service, and overall experience. We made a reservation and were seated right away. The food was very fresh and delicious. The menu had lots of options but didn’t feel overwhelming. The cost was very fair, which is a rare find down the shore! We would definitely go back again. Recommend crab cake Benedict!
We went for my boyfriends birthday and couldn’t be happier. The food and set were excellent and we can’t wait to go back. Would highly recommend.
We always enjoy Back Bay Bistro. The food is excellent as is the service. The portions are large and we took home two doggie bags. The prices are fair, and we like that it is a BYOB. Our only question is why was there a comment on the computer when we returned home that noted this reservation not eligible for open table points. What does that mean?
The food was not good. The crab cakes I had were mushy, my daughter had a flat iron steak that was chewy and tough. My granddaughter had mozzarella sticks the breading tasted old and fishy like the oil was old and used for other things, everyone at the table tried some and we all had the same opinion. My wife had the scallops she said they were small and a little over cooked but edible My granddaughter had a buffalo chicken salad that was saturated in dressing which she couldn’t eat. We sent back the mozzarella sticks and said we didn’t want a replacement, when the bill came they were still charging for them. When the waitress overheard me say I was going to deduct the cost from the tip, she took the cost off of the bill but, she had the hostess deliver the revised bill. I have been to this restaurant at least 10 times in the past few years but last night will be my last visit.
We discovered this restaurant this week on Open Table and thought we'd take a break from the prices in the restaurants in Cape May. Four adults had appetizers, main courses and desserts, and as we happened to have an early dinner Sunday night to return to our respective NYC/Philadelphia areas, were eligible for the "early bird" pricing. With crab bisque (soup of the day) or salad beforehand and bread pudding with vanilla sauce as chosen dessert, we sampled some of the waitress Pam's favorite items as entrees. Each guest was very pleased with the freshness and quality of their chosen food and its preparation, but were all pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes. Pam made sure we took advantage of the "bottom-less refills" of Pepsi products and the fresh bread served with herb-ed olive oil; she was most attentive, as we expressed in our tip for her. The bill was less than 1/2 the cost of comparable meals in Cape May city. We will definitely return to this "find" for us, as we could find nothing to criticize.
This place is such a hidden gem! We eat here several times a year because the food is so good and VERY reasonably priced! All of the seafood dishes are outstanding and my daughter loves the fried chicken! Garlic knots are so good! BYOB with free cork service. Take out also available. We have never been disappointed here!
Excellent meal for six people. Waitress was wonderful. Opened our wine and brought an ice bucket without being asked.
Oops! Ignore what I said. I don’t want this gem to be discovered by everybody else!
great place. been going here for years. it is like coming to family dinner; small town restaurant where you meet friends and neighbors
Just getting back from Snowbirding it in Florida we were excited to return to Back Bay for Sunday breakfast, one of our favorites. We were a little disappointed this week as they seemed to be a little off , service was slow to start but seemed to pickup after a while , possibly a kitchen staff issue . Their computer was down so you had to pay cash as their credit card charging was also down and we weren't told that until it was time to pay . I do not think we ended up getting our points for this reservation , please check that out .
Look forward to coming back for our next Sunday breakfast and hopefully things have improved.
We go to Back Bay Bistro several times a year. But going for Valentine's Day is a tradition for us. They sometimes, like this year, have a special menu. The stuffed lobster was DELICIOUS! The Bistro never disappoints.
First time there, was recommended to us and we will definitely recommend to others !! Go you will have a great time
Good Food Good Service great value byob
Ordered crostini with bruschetta. It was bitter and inedible . Salad was good. Focaccia bread was good.
Had prime rib it was tough. Ordered shrimp and veal in a butter lemon sauce over pasta. Three shrimp and pieces of the toughest veal ever presented. Sauce was too thick and starchy. Couldn’t eat it.
We love going here for breakfast. We never had a bad meal. The place is always decorated very nice and every one working there are so nice.
Good food and great portions... the salad was great too!
New Year’s Eve dinner was as expected “Perfect”
