Great food and service. It has become a favorite of ours while visiting the Jersey Shore. My flounder was the best I can remember. Keep up the good work and I’m looking forward to our next visit.
Location was good, place was cute. Our food was not good- my prime rib I ordered medium but got it well. I’m not one to complain so I ate it but did not enjoy it. The table next to us refused to eat theirs and were complaining of the same thing. The service was goos at first but then tapered off and we waited a very long time to get our meals and pay (probably bc they were over cooking the meat!!!). Based upon the limited number of options in cape May I would go again but will stick to pasta.
Was disappointed with this visit, service was really slow and backed up and the food was not up to snuff. Our table was the last served and we were last to leave despite having a much earlier reservation. We're not sure if we will return without an explanation.
Great food for a great price
We are never disappointed. Excellent food and service. Our waitress was called in to work last minute and she was awesome. A real hometown experience every time. We will definitely be regulars.
Every time we eat there breakfast or dinner always good meals. Recommend as a place to eat.
Very nice experience. Staff was excellent
First time at the back bay bistro on Easter Sunday for brunch and our party of 6 was very happy with the food, service, and overall experience. We made a reservation and were seated right away. The food was very fresh and delicious. The menu had lots of options but didn’t feel overwhelming. The cost was very fair, which is a rare find down the shore! We would definitely go back again. Recommend crab cake Benedict!
We went for my boyfriends birthday and couldn’t be happier. The food and set were excellent and we can’t wait to go back. Would highly recommend.
We always enjoy Back Bay Bistro. The food is excellent as is the service. The portions are large and we took home two doggie bags. The prices are fair, and we like that it is a BYOB. Our only question is why was there a comment on the computer when we returned home that noted this reservation not eligible for open table points. What does that mean?
We discovered this restaurant this week on Open Table and thought we'd take a break from the prices in the restaurants in Cape May. Four adults had appetizers, main courses and desserts, and as we happened to have an early dinner Sunday night to return to our respective NYC/Philadelphia areas, were eligible for the "early bird" pricing. With crab bisque (soup of the day) or salad beforehand and bread pudding with vanilla sauce as chosen dessert, we sampled some of the waitress Pam's favorite items as entrees. Each guest was very pleased with the freshness and quality of their chosen food and its preparation, but were all pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes. Pam made sure we took advantage of the "bottom-less refills" of Pepsi products and the fresh bread served with herb-ed olive oil; she was most attentive, as we expressed in our tip for her. The bill was less than 1/2 the cost of comparable meals in Cape May city. We will definitely return to this "find" for us, as we could find nothing to criticize.
This place is such a hidden gem! We eat here several times a year because the food is so good and VERY reasonably priced! All of the seafood dishes are outstanding and my daughter loves the fried chicken! Garlic knots are so good! BYOB with free cork service. Take out also available. We have never been disappointed here!
Excellent meal for six people. Waitress was wonderful. Opened our wine and brought an ice bucket without being asked.
Oops! Ignore what I said. I don’t want this gem to be discovered by everybody else!
great place. been going here for years. it is like coming to family dinner; small town restaurant where you meet friends and neighbors
Just getting back from Snowbirding it in Florida we were excited to return to Back Bay for Sunday breakfast, one of our favorites. We were a little disappointed this week as they seemed to be a little off , service was slow to start but seemed to pickup after a while , possibly a kitchen staff issue . Their computer was down so you had to pay cash as their credit card charging was also down and we weren't told that until it was time to pay . I do not think we ended up getting our points for this reservation , please check that out .
Look forward to coming back for our next Sunday breakfast and hopefully things have improved.
First time there, was recommended to us and we will definitely recommend to others !! Go you will have a great time
We go to Back Bay Bistro several times a year. But going for Valentine's Day is a tradition for us. They sometimes, like this year, have a special menu. The stuffed lobster was DELICIOUS! The Bistro never disappoints.
Good Food Good Service great value byob
Ordered crostini with bruschetta. It was bitter and inedible . Salad was good. Focaccia bread was good.
Had prime rib it was tough. Ordered shrimp and veal in a butter lemon sauce over pasta. Three shrimp and pieces of the toughest veal ever presented. Sauce was too thick and starchy. Couldn’t eat it.
We love going here for breakfast. We never had a bad meal. The place is always decorated very nice and every one working there are so nice.
Good food and great portions... the salad was great too!
New Year’s Eve dinner was as expected “Perfect”
Our server Pamela was great! Thank you Back Bay Bistro for a lovely dinner! Bill and I hope you All have a Wonderful New Year!

Crab bisque and the seafood entrees excellent never disappoints generous portions bread dipping oil and salad included in price of entree Great food service and atmosphere
Fantastic dinner with Santa. Our dinners were delicious. Our server Maureen was truly the best. We will be back very soon.
My second time eating here & it was as good as I remembered. Definitely plan to come back when visiting the area.
This place is fabulous. The food is great and so is the service. We have taken family and friends here. Everyone loves the place
All I can say is WOW. Great food, excellent service and very nice value. We cannot wait to go back there again. Our waitress was fabulous. The portions are large.
My wife and I arrived during their early bird time and elected to order dinner from that menu. Good choice, as there was just enough to satisfy our appetites. I ordered the crab cake which was very good with little filler and the sautéed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes, all very good. My wife ordered the flank steak with shrimp along with sautéed veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. Again, all very good. Dinner came with a large/shared house salad, nice garlic rolls and a bread pudding for dessert. This is a nice restaurant that we will visit again when in the Lower Township/Villas area.
We were looking for a moderately priced restaurant and Back Bay certainly fits that bill. These are not Cape May prices, with the average price running in the high teens. Service was excellent. The young lady who took care of us could not have done better. The dining room itself is open, not cramped at all and decent enough looking. The food was good, but that was it...good. But keep in mind this is not a $30+ type restaurant. It was just what we asked for and the service was suburb to boot.
Always a great menu selection.
Great place for family dining with good service and food!
We were the only diners on a cold rainy evening. We were greeted warmly and had a wonderful meal for customer appreciation night. Back Bay Bistro is our go-to restaurant for all occasions. The food and service are always exceptional and it is BYOB.
I was vacationing solo in south coastal NJ for my birthday and came here on the "big" night. It was a nice winding down from an active (sports) day and open during the fall, when many beach places close for business until spring. I over-ordered (birthday...hey) and had to take food back to my hotel and finish off as breakfast. However, the portions were delicious and plentiful. I had fried mozzarella, crabcakes, salad, mashed potatoes, and a steamed veggie mix. With iced tea (smile).
It's our neighborhood go-to spot. the specials are appealing and it is a byob. the service is good, usually not a wait, the food is nice and plentiful portions. Good for families and casual.
Dinner with friends. Good menu selection, fair pricing, byob. Nice place to have a dinner and conversation.
One of my favorite place from pizza to steaks, seafood and very affordable.
Always a pleasure to eat at BBB. Food always served hot and presented well. Samantha is very personable and professional.
