Baci Cafe - Blackhawk Ratings and Reviews
My gf had the blue cheese burger which she and I both agreed was very salty but the cook disputed with our host out loud and since the place was empty we heard everything. He was offended and continued to voice his displeasure aloud. I also found a small piece of something in my bite. Felt like a bone or piece of ceramic. Very odd. The only good thing was the veggie omelette but the potatoes that came with it was completely unseasoned, not even salt and pepper so I left them aside. The host explained profusely that the cook has used the same beef always. Perhaps it's time to check the Cook's attitude because it's clear to us now why the place was completely empty for lunch.
I really want this place to make it as it's so close/convenient. But the last few times the service was just so poor. The servers seem so disinterested and unfriendly. I went at 5:45 and we were the only two in there. My time is so precious and I hate wasting it. I mentioned twice to our server that it was my guests birthday. Nothing.
We got there and were seated right away. The server eventually made her way over offering us water and drinks, and said she'd be back to take our order. About 20 minutes later she came back and asked us, "Oh did I forget to take your order?" Uh yes. I asked if I could get a broiled chicken breast , no pasta. What I got was sliced up finger size pieces of broiled tasteless chicken, just tossed in a bowl, no garni, certainly no presentation. We also ordered the berry seasonal salad which was dripping in dressing. Lastly, we ordered the apple palette which was supposed to come with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and candied walnuts and caramel. No ice cream, the palette was very doughy and completely undercooked and soggy in the center and nearly cold. Not Ready for a 2nd chance. Better food and superior service at Black Bear Dinet.
Unfortunately, the AC must not have been functioning. It was extremely warm in there but cooler than the 104 degrees outside.
Food is always great! Service is nice but could be a bit more on the "attention to detail" side.
Still a "go to" spot for consistently well prepared and flavorful meals.
Father's Day brunch. Overall experience was poor . Although 3 tables in the restaurant we waited 45 minutes for our brunch. When it arrived one order was wrong and the meat was well done not medium rare. Manager Michael did apologize but said they were busy with only one cook. I would not recommend this restaurant... the yelp rating was 4.5 .. ... must have been rated by their friends ! It is 1.5.
Shopping center restaurant with ample parking due to location. Nicely decorated and clean. Wait staff could be a bit more attention to detail (quart water bottle refill, offering grated cheese for pastas, checking to see if all is OK once meal is served). The food is very good and their menu is eclectic enough for variety without being too broad causing a lack of consistency/repeatability. I would certainly return, but might tend to avoid the popular times on a Friday or Saturday evening due to experience (lack of) of wait staff.
My friend and I ate dinner here on a Friday night. Surprisingly, it was not too busy. I'm guessing it was due to the Warriors game. They did have three large screen TVs right above the bar for those who wanted to catch the game. Our waitress was very nice but somewhat slow at getting our drinks. We both ordered their signature strawberry lemon drops. She stated that she wanted to make them "perfect". I didn't realize that the waitstaff had to make the drinks themselves. As my friend and I were not in a hurry, this did not bother us much but I can see that it would have irritated others. I do like my strawberry lemon drops a little sweeter than it was prepared however. We were ordering light tonight. I ordered a cup of the tomato basil soup and a tuna tartare. My friend had the Blue cheese wedge salad and the two meatballs entrée. The tuna tartare starter plate was very well made, lots of cubed tuna and avocado just the way I like it. I am a light eater so the combination of creamy tomato soup ( can tell made with lots of butter and cream but isn't that why it's so good? )and tuna tartare was enough. My friend did enjoy her salad and meatballs but this is her go-to meal as she has been here several times before. There were lots of other things on menu including pasta dishes, meat, fish, and burgers. Would definitely return to try the rest of the menu.
Where do I begin? Arrived at 7:15 pm and didn't get seated until 7:30 although there were plenty of tables but they were obviously short staffed. Wife ordered a $10 pomegranate martini. Pomegrante juice was obviously old since her drink was dark brown rather than deep red. Food came. I returned my chicken. It tasted spoiled. My wife had 16.50 or 17.50 Cobb salad. Menu says bacon - there was no bacon on it. There was one egg and three cherry tomatoes sliced in half with minimal crumbles of blue cheese. Whole salad mainly consisted of ice berg lettuce. Tried to get more salad dressing and waitress never bothered to check back with us. Manager was busy talking to a customer for the duration of our meal. My wife never cared for this place much but now I am done too. We won't be back. Service sucks and food was awful.
It was an awful experience and I emailed the owner the next day and still have not heard back. It was my mother's 80th birthday and six of us went there for dinner on a weeknight. The server, Joanne, couldn't have been any more disinterested in us. She kept sitting with the woman at the next table, talking about her life prior to now, and about her future plans. The food was cold, she forgot an entree salad (for my mom!) There was no apology for forgetting to punch it in, and we didnt ever see her again until after the meal. I had to walk over to the kitchen to get parmesan cheese, and beg for water from another server. To add insult to injury, she added 20% gratuity to the check, because we had six people (two were children)
Appalling, and no manager in sight the entire evening. Would NEVER go back, and its a shame because we've always thought the food and service was good before.
I've order take out from them and it's always been great, so this time I decided to dine-in. The food was tasty and the cocktail I ordered was good too. It was very noisy though! Hard to have a conversation. Also, I witnessed one of the hosts get very agitated at two women who sat themselves down without "checking in" (they didn't see anyone up front). The place wasn't crowded as it was early for dinner, and one of them was using a walker so she couldn't move fast. He rudely told them they had to get up because that was a reserved table and they had to go back up front and wait. It wasn't easy for her to get around, and he didn't seem to care. He eventually sat them at a two top table but still. No compassion. Won't be going back because of the noise level and this behavior too. I will order for delivery as the food is good.
Over priced for the food quality. Table arrangements uncomfortable. Waitress never came back to the table except to pick up payment at which time she asked 'do you need change?' Professional wait staff would never pose such a question. Cannot recommend BACI.
Excellent food. Service less than stellar. Waitress was more focused on closing out for the night than us; took quite awhile to get our check and longer for her to come back. Actually, she never did return with my credit card. I went up to the manager and asked him to retrieve my tab so I could finish paying. Server said she forgot about it. Sorry...
Manager did nothing. Could have comped us our drinks or something. Just handed me the tab so I could sign. I even told him the only reason I was adding a tip was so the other workers didn't lose out. Felt like I cared more about them then they did for us.
Too bad because the chef is great.
Side note: our server was sweet/considerate and I think, if it was not so close to the end of shift, we would have had a different experience. Our reservation was for 7 pm and we took about an hour to eat. It was a slow night and definitely empty tables.
If the manager had said something like "come back and dessert is on me" or in some way acknowledged the inconvenience we probably would be going back. Not so sure though since our poor experience didn't seem to matter...
This is a family friendly restaurant in a strip mall. We were hesitant but went in. Lots of children present (we like kids) so it was a bit loud but that's OK. What was really interesting though, was the food was REALLY GOOD! Much better than we expected - on a par with some of the better SF eateries.
