We ate at Baci last night. It's better than when Bill owned it!
What's better is the servings are more abundant, the recipes have been tweaked to add more interest, and, in the case of my husband's entree, the veal was a better grade of meat than what was previously used. The veal marsala was so much more tender and tasted so much better, we asked our veteran waitress, Pat, whose employment predated Bill, if it was a better grade and she said yes.
My pro secco apertif was served in a new modern stylish, slender tall glass that appeared to be a larger serving than the old champagne flutes. There was considerably more home grown tomato bruschetta on top of the toasted bread rounds. My linguine con vongole in clear sauce was a more generous portion than in the past. It was considerably larger than the meager, bland portion I ate two weeks ago at Arancio at Kahala, Honolulu Magazine's Finalist for Best O'ahu Restaurant, 2018 Hale Aina Award Winner and gold winner winner in Best Italian.
I really liked the tweaked insalate pere's shaved beet and carrots and my husband liked the artichokes he didn't remember seeing previously in the veal marsala.
My husband ordered grappa after the meal. It was one of the cheaper options. He was prepared for moonshine. Instead, it was extremely smooth and served in glass twice as large as the size in which grappa is normally served. My profiteroles were outstanding.
If you want to eat at Oahu's best Italian restaurant, this is it.
Love back. But their ac needs updating. I am always hot and stuffy in there
We have been to Baci many times. The food is decent but not fantastic. Three of us ordered the Monchong piccata fish special. Unfortunately all three were underdone. One of the plates was very underdone. The waitress took them all back and they were cooked longer. Unfortunately they were still all underdone... they were basically just warmed up. Our guest stopped eating and the waitress inquired if it was better. When she replied that it was not, they offered to replace the meal. She ended up choosing a shrimp linguini. It was better. My daughter and I lost our appetite for the meal and did not continue eating. There were apologies, but no offer to take half off the dish or anything. It was just a constant sorry, sorry, sorry. Clearly the cook has no idea how to cook Monchong.
It was disappointing. Baci prices are not super low. The service is good but the food is uninspired and under seasoned. The AC units were both on, but the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. Everyone in our party was very warm. We will not be back any time soon.
Somewhat overpriced and pretentious. Average house wine was substantially overpriced and not great quality.
Great food and service! Best neighborhood restaurant!
One of my favorite places ever. Love everything about baci
So happy to have Baci Bistro open again for lunch. Our server was new so was not completely up on all the dishes. My guest who, like I am, is used to Baci's menu and food. She was disappointed in the rigatoni with rosa sauce. She said the sauce was different and now she is going to have to change her favorite menu choice as it no longer scored excellent with her.
The ravioli is always my favorite. Can't wait to go back to order the ravioli of the day again.
My family and friends enjoyed dining at Baci Bistro - the food was delicious and very authentic, and our server Shannon provided excellent service. Our next visit in the near future will be for lunch - the menu offers a nice range of selections and the prices are very reasonable.
The food was quite expensive and everything was priced ala carte. What we had was very good and was very healthy. The service was good and our waitress was friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend, who doesn't mind paying quite a bit for the food.
We sat in the outdoor area and there was a faint odor. Our server was very attentive and friendly.
Always good and new owners making service even better
Good fresh salad and grilled fish was perfectly cooked.
My glass of prosecco had no bubbles. Staff told me it was the last glass from the bottle.
Overall, the lunch was fine. Work on better staff responses.
Service great, food good, noisy atmosphere. Local and convenient.
nice place, good food, could use a better beer menu
Classic Italian, best in Kailua. Could use furnishings update...
Excellent customer service and incredible food. Hostess and waiters were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was some of the best Italian we have had in quite some time, something we didn't expect to find on the island of Oahu! If you are in search of delicious Italian while in Hawaii, I highly recommend Baci Bistro.
Food was delicious. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our dining experience and our waiter Gabriel was outstanding.
The food just wasn't good. The Alfredo sauce was gloppy, not creamy, and the olive oil in the Caprese salad was inferior quality, when it should have been extra virgin. When we ordered, several items we requested were not available. Then, while we waited, people came into the restaurant carrying fresh supplies of food. That should be done before the restaurant opens, so menu items will be available. We were there on the late side for lunch, which is an unacceptable time to stock up. I will not go there again and won't recommend it.
We've been coming here for years. They ran out of profiteroles this evening😰 but food is great. One suggestion, Italian bread would be more appropriate than sour dough. Warning, Open Table sent a message we wouldn't be receiving pts! Love Baci Bistro,
not so happy with Open Table.
We enjoyed our dinner with friends while we were visiting and staying in Kaneohe. Our server was friendly, funny, and attentive. All of our meals were delicious! We sat outside, which wasn’t too crowded on a Monday evening so the noise level was low. All 4 of us enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere.
Always consistent and very good. The staff works hard and they have a loyal customer following
I had the lobster ravioli, my partner had the special short ribs of the day, we both had minestrone soup and beet salad. We also had the profiteroles and creme brûlée for desert. Everything was great. We will be back to dine there soon.
It has been a while since we've been there. Nice place to celebrate an anniversary. Food was delicious.
They are very open to swapping sauces, pasta, etc. you can personalize your dish.
We had a great dinner on Sat night. The food was delicious as usual and we all absolutely loved the chocolate decadence cake for dessert. Fun evening with our family visitors on their first trip to Hawaii.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent food. It was substantially louder then usual due to an intoxicated party near us. Didn't ruin the experience though!!
We stopped in for dessert after dinner with friends. Dave made sure our visit was memorable.
We had a wonderful lunch. The server told us up front that two items weren't available on the menu and recommended excellent alternatives. We ate outside on the patio and it was delightfully quiet, like a private el fresco patio. The waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and even helped us navigate gluten free options (including pasta). The food was fresh and delicious. Prices were VERY fair, especially for Hawaii.
This has been my husbands favorite place for him and his family/friends get togethers. The staff and management does a fanaminal job creating the perfect ambiance.
We came here for our last night in Hawaii - the food and service was excellent!
The food and service was great. The manger was very accommodating. They take pride in their restaurant.
Great food... desserts and service. Never been disappointed with theirfood or service.
Hands down our favorite restaurant! Definitely one of Kailua's secret gems. New owners have done a great job in keeping the consistency that long time customers, like myself, are accustomed to. I always find an "occasion" to eat at Baci. Service staff is excellent and the food is always delicious. Their truffle gnocchi is a must have. It's definitely a highlight of our dinner, especially for my 2 girls.
Had the Red Snapper and Risotto Vegatale. Both were excellent. Have been to Baci a few times now, so reminds me of all the wonderful small cafes in Italy.
Enjoyed dining outside alone.......wait staff was great. Food was well prepared and tasty, wine was good. Overall a nice dining experience.
Quaint restaurant. Excellent food & service. Highly recommend the lobster ravioli!
My favorite birthday dinner restaurant! I love their lobster ravioli, steaks, Limoncello, cheesecake and service!
Bacci Bistro is consistently good, with the entrees cooked to perfection.
Amazing food, the only real, authentic Italian I have found since living in Italy, food was delicious, in good portions, dessert was amazing, and we loved the limoncello.
We normally love Baci, but this visit was disappointing. I made a reservation for us, but when we got there no one was really hosting and we had to wait 30 minutes to be sat under a fan that blew my hair everywhere while I was trying to eat. We got the mussels and there was very little sauce which made the mussels look dry and unappetizing (which they were). We also got the caprese which had almost no taste at all and I wasn't too fond of the balsamic reduction drizzle. Too sweet and no other taste on the plate to balance it out. For entrees we had the papparadelle with chicken and veal as well as the lobster ravioli. The papparadelle sounded good but what came out was a much blander version of a Chinese look fun. The chicken was dry and tasteless. I won't be ordering it again. We always get the lobster ravioli and this time it was a little off the mark but still very good and especially in comparison with the rest of the dishes that night. We got the tiramisu to go since the fan was giving me a chill. I know Baci recently changed owners and I hope they can step it up because I would hate to see this stellar neighborhood bistro close its doors.
