Because it was unseasonably warm for November when we went to Bacco Boston, the floor-to-ceiling windows were wide open on the second floor and, since we were seated right by the windows, we had a great street view. This was the best of the North End! Great food and service.
A friend and I made reservations here on the basis of a daughter's recommendation. It lived up to what we were told. We had an early dinner so the restaurant was not crowded or noisy. We ate upstairs. Our waiter was excellent. He did a good job of explaining various dishes and portion sizes. He was very attentive throughout the meal. My friend had an eggplant dish and I had the lobster ravioli. Both were excellent. We were too full to order dessert.
Birthday for my mom. I called in advance and they td me they have a limited dessert menu. At the end of the meal the server tells us they don’t offer dessert at all on Sat nights. We went to bar after to have an after dinner drink before our concert and we see a couple at a table having dessert. Very confused and disappointed???? Food was just ok in general. Server was fine nothing spectacular. Better places in the North End. We won’t be going back.
We live in Charlestown so we have visited many north end restaurants and this was the best we've had in a while. They had 3 specials and we had a hard time choosing 2 because they were all so yummy sounding. The two we chose were delicious and unique. Salmon on top of spinach ravioli with shrimp and another was veal on top of lobster ravioli. SO delicious and the portion was perfect. The ambiance is wonderful as well, sat upstairs with the windows open it was just lovely. We will be back again!
My husband and I have been going to Bacco for our anniversary dinner every year since our first. This year was #19 and it was another superb experience! Everything about Bacco makes it the right choice for an amazing night out in Boston's North End... food, drink, service, ambiance. The staff is THE best thing about Bacco. What an awesome team they've assembled!
fun, lively place. staff was very friendly and accommodating, despite how busy it was. portion sizes are small, but very tasty. our meat was very tough, which is disappointing for veal but other than that things were good. it's on the main strip in the north end, which is fun but feels a bit like a tourist trap. would give it another shot after going to other restaurants first.
This was our first time in North End so we were not sure where to go first. We looked over all the reviews and picked Bacco. It was not a good choice. The food was not horrible but there are definitely better places to eat on North End. We had the Mussels for an appetizer which were in a tomato sauce which wasn't bad, just not great. Then we shared a Caesar salad which was good just at very room temperature. Then we had Veal Picatta for an entree and it was so yellow in color it looked totally artificial. The veal was tender but the color was offensive. There was very little sauce on it and very few capers. No lemons, but lots of lemon color??? We will not return.
Went to Bacco for their Boston Restaurant Week menu selection and was very impressed. We showed up about 20 minutes before our reservation and they were still able to happily seat us ahead of schedule. The food was delicious and the expected North End quality. The service was also great and very quick. Most restaurants scale down the portion sizes for their fixed, restaurant week menu, but Bacco definitely served full portions for each course which really made me feel like I was receiving the value I intended on. The cozy size and atmosphere of the restaurant is perfect for a date night or relaxing with a cocktail by the bar.
This was my second time to Bacco and it did not disappoint. The food is the best Italian I've had in the North End. My only complaint is that both times, there were large, extremely noisy parties next to us. The party was very inconsiderate, screaming and laughing so loudly we could hardly hear each other at our own table. Once they left, our meal was a million times more enjoyable.
Party of 8 for dinner at 5:00. Everyone was happy with the service and their dinners. I was slightly disappointed in the calamari since it was served cold and someone else got the artichoke app and we less than enthusiastic about it. I had the seafood risotto which was tasty, hot, and full of the stuff you want. A few had the butternut squash ravioli and said it was fantastic. If you want a quiet dinner I would say go somewhere else. I absolutely loved the atmosphere! With that said, I would eventually go back but with so many choices in the North End, I want to try and visit them all. Oh, and be prepared, only one bathroom for the men and women!!!!
Excellent food--great menu. I am Italian and a tough critic--the pasta was perfectly cooked. The menu had a lot of thought and the seasonal dishes were appreciated--great specials. Upstairs looking down on the fun happening below is great people watching--a great place to take a large group. Excellent service.
After running thru thunderstorm, we were cooly greeted then taken to a table practically in the kitchen/service area. After requesting a different table not by two large/loud groups, we were grudgingly given a banquet table for 4 in a room 1/3 full. Waiter couldn't be nicer/more accomodating. Good meal. But hard to get over welcome.
