Love trying new spots in the North End, so thought we'd hit Bacco. Having been other places, I have to say that the food was good, but not exceptional. The service (granted, it was Marathon weekend) was fine, but the wait staff was not overly helpful. I'd say if you need a reservation in a pinch, it's a good spot, but feel there are others with more inventive menus, cozier atmosphere, and more attentive staff.
Service was quick we were going to a show at the opera house. The food was very good. It was a pleasant experience and I would recommend the restaurant.
Unbelievable food! The appetizers and the meals were delicious. The service was excellent.
Service so slow then food rushed. Could not get our drink order straight. Food average
We had a wonderful time - everything was wonderful.
I took my husband here for his birthday. It was lovely. We arrived and we were given a beautiful table overlooking the street. The service and food were phenomenal. I loved that they welcomed us and made my husband feel special on his special day!
Perfect pasta, chicken, and shrimp. Delicious. Lovely service. Nicely quiet for early dinner. Windows could use a wash, and music less specific (90s hits?) But truly recommend 100%
Excellent food and service!
Excellent night out!
Food, drinks, and atmosphere were great!
Mediocre Italian at best with high prices
Seemed to focus on specials, my meal was ordered off the menu and my dish was cold in sections!
Like the salad, very fresh and the wine selection was good and reasonably priced.
Appreciated the quick service as we had to be out by a certain time.
Drinks and dinner were outstanding. Mozzarella and prosciutto was perfect starter. Butternut squash ravioli was not too heavy. Would go back!
Bacco-Boston my favorite North End restaurant!! Love this place.
Went for Dine Out Boston promotion. Food and service were excellent. Noise level was high but it was Friday night, so this is to be expected. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Our party of 3 was disappointed to be crammed in at a deuce. Service was rushed. We were asked repeatedly to place our order within a short time. On more than one occasion they tried to take plates away before we were finished. The food was very good. We all enjoyed our meals. Portions were adequate. Presentation was good.
Food and the service was really great. Enjoyed the dinner. Drinks were awesome.place was very lively. A little on the noisy side. So if you are trying to have an intimate dinner it would be very difficult to have quiet conversation. But for a lively Friday night with friends it was perfect.
Food was very good. The calamari and butternut squash ravioli were delicious!
My boyfriend and I went out for Dine Out Boston and decided to go to the North End. We picked this restaurant based off of the great reviews and a recommendation from a friend.
The food was good, not the most amazing meal, but not bad by any means. Our waiter was very slow. We asked for bread at the start of the meal and didn’t receive it until after our appetizers came out and were partially eaten. We ordered drinks and didn’t them for at least 15 minutes. We went on a Sunday, so it really wasn’t very busy either.
Overall, it was not a bad experience. Bummed it wasn’t the same experience our friend had! I must say, the tiramisu was very good though.
Had a great meal!
Good food for the money nice restaurant overall and great location too
Great food with excellent service
service was terrific food is outstanding have been there before and always great service and food. have tried differenet menu items always outstanding
Had a great experience at Bacco, went with a group of 8 and the service was fast and attentive to special food requests and food allergies. The drinks and meals were great, a good find in the North End, will be back!
This eatery is a favorite in the North End. Best to make a reservation. Upstairs is quaint and romantic.
Although the ambiance of Bacco is very nice, the food was disappointing as was the service. The waiter was disorganized and didn't even share any specials which I didn't realize until after our orders were taken and I overheard another waiter at an adjacent table. I had to ask where my wine was twice. The desert menu was a bit pathetic. It was a lovely evening none the less and the open windows and vibrant atmosphere made it an overall nice evening.
Even if you have a reservation, you will wait 45 minutes or more. This restaurant does not honor reservations. If you ask why the table you supposedly reserved was taken by another group, be prepared to be screamed at. The hostess is incredibly rude and seems incapable of resolving problems. After we’d had enough of the hostess’ screaming, we asked to see the manager, and the hostess brought over the bartender instead. We were told by the bartender that if we wanted to eat right away we should find a different restaurant. Our evening was ruined by the ineptitude of this restaurant’s staff.
Excellent food and drink. Very friendly and helpful staff.
On my first visit to Bacco, I was greeted by a friendly face who was happy to let me know my friend already arrived but stepped out. I decided to wait in the air-conditioned bar area, where I was met by another friendly face. Even though I only ordered water he happily assisted me. When my friends arrived we headed to the table and our waiter promptly came over to offer service. We let him know that we had not seen each other in years so we wanted time to catch up. He was great. He helped us select appetizers and check in every now an then to see if we needed anything. We never felt pressured to order. I ordered the scampi special, which was prepared perfectly. It was probably the best scampi I ever had. My friend customized her order and she received it as described. We had a wonderful evening. Bravo.
Overall, was pretty disappointed. We were in town for one night (from Atlanta) and really wanted a great Italian dinner in the North End. We did our research and asked for recommendations and made a reservation, but Bacco fell short.
We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated quickly at an open window table. That was the best part. But once we were seated we had to wait several minutes to even SEE a server in the room. There were maybe 3 or 4 other small tables, but no server in sight. Then 2 servers would scurry past our table without acknowledging us. We had to reach out to grab a server's attention for drinks.
We split a bottle of wine. I was surprised there wasn't a more impressive selection of Italian wines. Lots of California wines. Which I thought was odd. The food was good. But I expected much better. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs with a side of veggies. The veggies were fresh, but the pasta was just good. Nothing to write home about.
And now I realize this is just being picky, but the restaurant was playing rock and pop music from the 90s and today. It just took away from the ambiance which was a shame bc the decor, white lights, open windows, and all the plants really set the scene for romantic Italian evening.
My date enjoyed his dish just fine, but also felt the same: Food was ok. Service was disappointing. Overall, we wouldn't go back or recommend this to someone looking for an excellent Italian dining experience.
The food and service was excellent. The upstairs dining area was loud and the bathrooms need upgrading.
Decent service. Food looked (and tasted) like it came out of a can of chef boyardee.
My family and I enjoyed our evening at Bacco's this Dine Out Week. We were seated by a beautiful painting on the second level. I joked that we were eating at the Louvre! Calamari appetizers and Seafood scampi entrees were fresh and cooked perfectly. We were quite full, but managed to finish our Tiramisu desserts. Overall a great evening in the North End...
Went for our 45 Wedding Anniversary We were greeted very warmly and seated right where I had requested window. The owner came by and wished us a happy Anniversary. Our waiter Jose was very attentive. We started with cocktails and was informed that first round was courtesy of ore daughter 👍Food was served at a relaxing time. Quality and quantity was very good especially being it was Restaurant week in Boston. We would definitely recommend to anyone and will be back.
Great menu selection for Dine Out week. We loved the seafood scampi entre and calamari app. Good size portions, wine pour & drink. Noise level is high upstairs, although cooler temp than 1st fl.
Wanted a good North End spot to meet two friends from Miami. Also, wanted to take advantage of DineOut Boston. It was a rainy night but we got a perfect table on the second floor next to an open window, flower boxes and a view of typical North End tenement buildings. All good.
Some of the meal was quite good. My wife loved her entree and our friends seemed to like their food. My appetizer (mozzarella, prosciutto) was tasteless; chicken entree was good; mini cannoli was below average.
Service was very spotty. Had to flag someone down to get my friends their first drink. Had to flag someone else down to get bread. Visits to the table (right near a workstation for the waitstaff) were infrequent.
Overall, I be inclined to go elsewhere in the North End the next time.
Very good. Will have to go back to try the whole menu :)
Great dining experience as usual, been here several times. Our go to restaurant for bringing friends to the North End
