Bacchus Restaurant & Lounge - Wedgewood Hotel
As you walk into the restaurant, its attention to detail is immediately apparent. You are instantly surrounded by luxury, with richly upholstered furniture, dark wood, and light fixtures personally imported from Venice by founder Eleni Skalbania. These impressive features extend the hotel's brand of elegance. A large canvas depicting Bacchus himself, Greek god of wine and revelry, presides over the room.
Its talented culinary team offers modern French cuisine featuring fresh, West Coast ingredients. A great place to enjoy a truly gourmet, fine dining experience accompanied by live entertainment nightly.
The hostess upon my arrival was courteous, professional and welcoming, an important introduction to any venue including hotels and restaurants. My guest was obviously well known to the personnel. We were served an excellent meal at at table appropriate for a business conversation.
It was a splendid lunch from every perspective.
Hat’s off to Bacchus.
the food is great. the service is very slow. I have never managed to have a coffee after lunch because once the meal has arrived your servers disappear for an hour and it is time for me to go to work
Restaurant very quiet and somewhat lacking in atmosphere. Brunch menu quite limited (at least by UK standards ) excellent friendly service but overall we were disappointed by lack of buzz compared with other Vancouver restaurants we had visited
The service was great! We ordered egg benedict and omelette and they were delicious
Deservedly rated a top restaurant in Vancouver. Impeccable service, creative dishes made out of the finest ingredients with an original twist. If you are looking for a gustatory high, please book a table
Service was perfect, food was excellent, love the room. Piano was a bit loud for older folk who can’t manage ambient noise. We moved a few tables away and the problem was solved. Hate to be high maintenance, but after that, the evening was perfect.
A birthday lunch with girlfriends. We had a terrific time.
We have been big fans of Bacchus for years. It has been our favourite restaurant in Vancouver hands down. But something changed the night of June 6. And not for the better. We went there to celebrate a birthday but the food fell miserably flat—for all of us. The borscht soup was sour and lacked the complex flavour associated with this classic. The risotto was bland and uninspired and the special rib steak was salty and had a mushy texture. Even the toffee pudding lacked a wow factor. We will go back only because this is our first miss at Bacchus. But we were surprised and disappointed. Someone needs to pay closer attention to what’s going on here as this is very uncharacteristic of what is normally an excellent restaurant.
Bit of a dark place but great kitchen !
Parking was easy even though right downtown. Taken care of by bellman who was very nice and a gentleman. We sat in the main dining area overlooking the bar dining area from an elevated position and to the street outside. Old hotel wood and décor ambiance was warm, upscale and quiet. Our server James was fantastic, friendly and supportive. Our meals were delicious, portioned correctly and the wine also was excellent. We did not stay at the hotel but would love to stay there on a future trip if the dining experience and service experience we had were to translate to the whole hotel experience. No real doubt that it would.
This is an exceptional restaurant for dinner as long as you are prepared to pay premium price!
We have been going to Bacchus for years. The food is always great, as is the service and live music. The perfect place for any special occasion or business meal.
Wonderful lunch celebration- service was exceptional and the food was delicious ❤️
Classic Old School dining room. Live piano player, classic cocktails and comprehensive wine list with Somalier. Our server Simon was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Pleasant setting, good food, good service. French toast is excellent. Nice to get corned beef hash that’s freshly made!
One of my favourite go-to places for lunch. Service is always excellent. One feels welcomed and appreciated. Food is well-prepared, tasty, nicely presented, attention to detail. One of my favourites is the Cobb salad. Staff are always very pleasant, professional.
Sumptuous decadence, beautiful mood lighting and delicious food. Brilliant knowledge from our fabulous server. Perhaps the piano player could look up a few Take That hits just to make our evening perfect.
I worked at the Wedgewood 35 years ago and the hotel has not lost any of it charm. Tim was outstanding and provided great service.
My daughter took me here for Mother’s Day Brunch.
The food, service and ambiance was superb. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
A classic rich and stylish room with a well accomplished piano player is a warm welcome to an evening of dining. The service was excellent and the food was expertly prepared and presented so our evening was a memorable one.
One of my favorites for 20+ years and still delivering a quality meal with outstanding service and lovely atmosphere. James service added to the meal with his great sense of humour!
Had dinner here for Mother’s Day. Everything was perfect. Food was excellent as was the service. Not the least expensive restaurant in Vancouver but worth the extra especially for a special occasion. Thankyou !
Excellent food. Top notch service. Wonderful ambiance. Highly recommended
Simply beautiful room, adequate service but very slow. Had the salmon and crab cake appetizer for $18 and what surprised to find that was only one thin cake, although it was beautifully presented and tasted pretty good. However, for a main I had the absolutely most boring and tasteless cobb salad I've ever encountered and I've had a lot of cobb salads. Very disappointed. Paying for the location and decor, not the food.
not bad, you can always reserver a table for big parties
The ambience is very nice. Live music is a good addition. Service is very good. Food is moderate, nothing special.
Excellent food and excellent service! Live piano music is also excellent! Prices on the menu are reasonable! Each portion is quit big-good value! Would come back again more often!
Old world elegance and charm.
This is a restaurant that hearkens back to old world dark woods and heavy drapery. The staff presents an air of formality. The food was spectacular with great portion sizes - by that I mean they are something that a normal person could eat without feeling absolutely stuffed.
We started with an amazing crab with yellow beet borscht appetizer. Superbly prepared and presented. The fresh halibut was expertly prepared. The tenderloin with short rib came with very interesting layered potato side (kind of like scalloped potatoes) perfectly cooked. Super tasty sauce on the short rib. Our desserts (sorbet) we likewise nicely portioned scoops (3) and very well made.
The live piano music in the background is a very nice romantic touch for the evening.
It was wonderful. Food was perfect and the people delightful
Excellent service, good and atmosphere.
Wonderful ambiance, food and service. My fourth visit in as many months. Heartily recommend it.
my husband was particularly pleased by the fact that I had caused some confusion around the reservation but the staff handled it with aplomb, without making anyone feel bad or at risk....
Excellent food along with Accomodation for dietary restrictions. Outstanding service on food and wine.
A wonderful little nook to catch a bite or a drink.
Try the James’ special salad. Perfect for the summer weather
Excellent. And they were able to accomodate one person's severe lactose intolerance without batting an eye. Be aware that it can be slow - 2.5 hours without dessert for us - but the food was all spectacular. It's pricey, but in keeping with what you get. Will be back.
Pleasant ambience, excellent service, very good food (we just had a light lunch).
Just such a terrific place! A true downtown gem. The atmosphere is whimsical and refreshing.
Stellar service, good food, lovely ambiance! We always enjoy dining at Bacchus.
Food was very good. Service was average. Biggest disappointment was room temperature. It was very warm and we could not wait to finish and get outside.
First class service and ambiance. Superb meals especially the rack of lamb.
