Such a fun place to meet up before Shea's! Great service, excellent food
We were looking for a place close to BAM. My food was extremely average; edible but not enjoyable. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals better.
The food was amazing, and so was the service. But it was extremely loud in there.
Fine restaurant only serves wine which was disappointing since I was expecting to order a bloody mary. Nonetheless, it is a very good place to go on a date, do dinner or have a glass of wine with a friend.
Lovely brunch for a special occasion. Very pleased with the service and the food. Full house but no noise problems. Already planning return visit.
The restaurant was dark and cold and we were directed to a tight space near a shelving area. The server was not particularly friendly. My wife’s hangar steak was tasty, but my salmon was served over a joltingly cold concoction of quinoa and asparagus. Not a great dining experience!
Excellent great time thanks to Bruno for the visit
And all his team
Found online and made spontaneous reservation, and it was PERFECT. Lovely place, terrific food, and very fairly priced.
Very nice ambiance with an excellent wine selection . We will return for sure!
Casual dining with friendly service. Nice place to eat before a show at Barclays!
It was a solid meal with good service and atmosphere. After sharing 4 dishes however, there's not one dish that stood out that we want to return for. We still enjoyed the meal overall.
Always delicious and welcoming! Our favorite brunch spot in Brooklyn. Try the scallops!
We decided to have French food that evening. Bacchus provided a fine meal. The French Onion Soup had the best flavor of any French Onion Soup I've had and I've ordered it at many restaurants. The shrimp wrapped in bacon was a small portion. It looked like they cut the shrimps in half so we got two shrimp. They tasted fine. My wife got the Duck Magritte which she had never tried before. The taste was fine, but it was a little tough. The cassoulet had generous portions of the meats and beans. But the beans were a little bland. The apple tart for dessert was very good. For the price, the ice cream was a good sized portion. The server helped my wife pick a wine and she enjoyed his pick. Overall, a fine meal and we will go back if we're in that part of Brooklyn again.
Good date night
It was mostly good. We were not made aware of the pre set menu when we made the reservation, and the service was OK. Overall enjoyed my experience and food, would probably come back for the regular menu and a different server.
PreFix menu for Valentine’s Day was terrible, Bottle of Wine tasted flat. overall unhappy with a normally great local French spot.
They have less and less vegetarian options.
I used to rate it five stars but almost everything is either meat or shellfish, neither of which I eat .
But I couldn’t order a salad and there were only two fish dishes on the menu.
If they broaden the menu again it would be much better
My partner and I shared a delicious blood sausage appetizer and individual entrees. The food was quite tasty if not mind-blowing. We also really appreciated the attentive and helpful service, it elevated our dining experience. I would definitely return!
Service and food were top notch. Very pleased. Would return again.
New year’s eve
We went for the New Year’s Eve prefix dinner. The app and entree were ok. Not the best French food I’ve had, but decent. The dessert was the worst I’ve had at a nice restaurant in a while. I’m not sure if it was just an off night for the kitchen, but I’m hoping so. The ambiance and the staff were lovely, so I’m hoping it was a fluke.
We came for New Year Eve's Dinner with my family, I was missing french food, we were well served. The food was excellent, really well-cooked and the waiters were really attentive. The portions were just perfect, I've rediscovered the flavors of my beloved country. I would definitively recommend Bacchus for a lovely night, surrounded by your lover or your family.
New Year’s Eve dinner experience was fantastic ! Cozy atmosphere , beautifully presented courses that tasted out of this world with excellent service.. the three of us ate & drank very well and were not rushed . Glad we made reservations because it did get busy !!
We had to find a Christmas dinner after our plans fell through. Not easy given we have teenagers and a 2 1/2 year old. But we saw the prix fixe menu and that a kid’s menu existed and picked an early evening reservation and crossed our fingers. Everything was great. Food was really good, everyone was happy, the little one ate off everyone else’s plates. Silverware that fell to the floor (a frequent occurrence) quickly got replaced. Staff was really patient when the little one needed to walk around between courses. Everyone made the experience very pleasant. I could see coming back sans kids later in the evening for a romantic night too.
We come every now and then. Happily they are open on Christmas! But any time, we never have a lackluster time or meal at Bacchus. They do what they do very well. A reliable neighborhood restaurant.
Our Christmas table of 11 had a fabulous time. Place was able to accommodate wheel chair bound family member. Attentive service. Food delicious. Great wine choice.
Great spot for amazing French dishes. Had dinner with friends on a cold winter's night and the cassoulet was amazing. The specials was lobster and a sirloin which were also absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a hearty meal - this is your spot!
I had dinner there on a Tuesday night so I'm not sure if the regular chef was on since it seemed a quiet night, but the Beef Bourguignon was fatty and I felt he portion was small for the price. When you only put as few chunks of beef in the dish and they are fatty it is gross. The dessert was fantastic, but I would not go back again based on the main course being a real disappointment.
Good food, a little too much noise. Good service and very friendly
A very solid option for a superb French meal with a perfectly intimate ambiance. Perfect for sparking a new flame or stoking the embers of a long settled relationship. Try the onion soups to warm your bones on a chilly evening or the perfectly balanced beef bourguignon to sate your soul. The ribeye was enough for two but excellently plated and superbly finished with a pepper sauce I will continue to dream about. Oh, and the chocolate mousse! Excellent service in a comfortable and casual atmosphere that should have the place packed every night.
Wonderful evening here. Everything was just great: the ambience, food, service, even the other diners. Give this place a try!
Brunch is great and priced well. Noise level was a bit loud and at times it was difficult to hear others at the same table across from me. Even though I didn’t give it a 5 star I do think it’s a good enough place to keep going back. Overall it’s a good experience.
So fun and a great bottomless brunch! Went here for my birthday and I'm looking forward to returning!
Gorgeous restaurant, thanksgiving day meal was filling and lovely. Amazing staff/service. Great atmosphere, very relaxing but elegant.
We brought our family for my son in laws birthday to Bacchus. Last time we were there there was a party in the back room and service was compromised. This time the food was just as amazing and the service was terrific. The only drawback this night was there was a large table in the same section that was soooo loud!!! Of course there was nothing the restaurant could do about that. But, otherwise, an amazing night!!
The dishes are supposed to examples of French cuisine but our waiter couldn't pronounce the French names of the dishes even approximately well. The cassoulet was so-so. There were no salads on the menu other than a lobster salad which didn't have any lettuce in it. On the plus side, the Dorado was good, the hanger steak ordered rare came rare, and the chicken was tasty and moist. Background music was too loud (it looked like a party was going on at the other end of the restaurant).
Very good food, quite and comfortable.
We loved it here. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. We both had the prime rib and it was excellent. Service was great too. Our waitress was wonderful. She was attentive, but not intrusive and was genuinely a friendly person. She was a pleasure to talk to. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We frequented Bacchus during its first years, when it was a small place with a great outdoor area & liked it a lot. Over the past number of years, for many reasons, we've only been back a couple of times. However, we've seen it survive and grow & finally decided to return to see how the newer, larger place was doing. We wound up very impressed with the food, wine, service and overall ambience. Although the noise level was pretty high (we sat in the back of the older room), nothing was over the top and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The food was excellent, from the snails to the onion soup (one of my pet criticism at other French bistros in the area) to the chicken to the duck breast to the chocolate "bomb" dessert. And, although the wine list was mainly bottles that we were unfamiliar with, it was wide ranging enough for our server to help us pick out one that went well with our choices, reasonably priced and drinking well (a 2015 Italian Malbec in the low $50s). The service was very upbeat & friendly, but knowledgable and helpful as well. We won't be waiting long to return.
We enjoyed the hangar steak appetizer.
The duck was coconut like steak. I loved the shrimp tagliteria and it was a large serving.
