It was Thanksgiving day, but we didn’t want traditional meal (turkey was on menu by the way:)
My husband preferred pasta with seafood and I had mussels in wine sauce
Two glasses of wine, coffee and chocolate pie were
Great food and great service. An awesome birthday dinner thanks to Bacchus
Really excellent service, very cute backyard, great food! Really enjoyed my time there.
Did a date night with my husband. Was quiet, which we like and our food was excellent. We shared the lamb shank and hangar steak and both were delicious. Great wine by the glass as well.
As always, Bacchus was great! We were there for a birthday celebration.
Amazing as always!!!!!
Besides the good food, wine, and service, the backyard has a beautiful atmosphere. And, this place is very well set up for safety during the pandemic... everything is nicely spread apart and I wasn't at all worried about being too close to other customers or the staff.
Always a great experience. The absolute best parts of dining at Bacchus is the food and ambiance, especially the garden. The service is usually very friendly. A go-to for french dining if you're in the downtown area of Brooklyn.
Took 20 minutes for us to be greeted (after asking twice) as they were very short staffed. We ordered the two-hour bottomless brunch, and although they provided a carafe of mimosas 15 minutes after we ordered, they were extremely slow to offer refills, and we always had to go inside to ask.
Food was good, came very quick, but nothing extraordinary. For reference, we ordered the steak & eggs (asked for medium, got medium rare) and Eggs Royal (saltier than it should be). Home fries and salad were good.
I’d like to note I’d been here one previous time pre-COVID for brunch. We ate inside, around 2-3pm on a Saturday, got the bottomless brunch, and our server was extremely attentive but we were the only patrons in the restaurant. They even continued providing drinks after our 2 hours were up and we had paid out. Ordered the burger and the octopus casserole, the latter being AMAZING. Some of the best grilled octopus I’ve ever had.
Definitely two very different experiences.
2020: outdoor garden; tables very well spaced; everyone wearing masks
Food/Service: always very good here; great neighborhood bistro
Great wine list and good food. Bacchus has a garden back area that's ideal for outdoor seating, and its movable roof was a great help Friday when it rained! Food is consistently good--highly recommend the salmon and the citrus salad.
I used to dine at Bacchus years ago and loved it, especially the braised lamb shank. I was thrilled to find it still on the menu and ordered it. It was exactly as I remembered, rich and tasty. The sides were perfectly prepared and delicious. Bacchus has a backyard and the outside dining was perfectly executed. The area is large and has a roof, so rain shouldn't matter. The tables were well apart from each other. The only drawback I could see is that there seems to be no way to heat the space, at least not yet. I hope they acquire propane heaters or something similar because it would be great place to eat, into the winter. My only complaint was that it seemed quite expensive, though a lovely dinner.
Once again, we had an amazing experience at one of my favorite restaurants. It was actually my first time for brunch, and out in the beautiful garden. Friends from out of town, former Brookylnites, requested it! Absolutely delicious food, amazing lattes, lovely atmosphere and all around the perfect spot for excellent food, service and beautiful safe environment! Love it!
My friends and I had a wonderful time at Bacchus. Food and service were great!
This place has been solid for 20 years. Delicious mussels, pasta, and on and on. Excellent food and welcoming backyard patio. Love this place!
Lovely dinner spot in these COVID times. They have outdoor seating in front of the restaurant, but I’d recommend being seated in the back courtyard; it’s outdoors but decorated with soft lighting and there’s good music (if you’re into lite ‘80s fare). Braised lamb was delicious as was the special (pesto tagliatelle with shrimp). Mussels were okay but you’ll likely want to get more roasted potatoes with them (instead of the focaccia). Great for a romantic dinner or casual meal with family/friend. Tables were also appropriately socially distanced. Only negative was the service was a bit slow, but with the right company you might not notice/care. Enjoy!
Great outdoor courtyard for dining. The pasta with shrimp was wonderful and I enjoyed my lamb shank.
A small menu with only a few dishes. The full online menu was not offered. No QR codes available at tables. overpriced!
Garden is very cute for a date night. Good was great.
We had a pleasant dinner. It was unfortunate that the restaurant was so empty.
The food was well cooked and a nice presentation as well
Great for outdoor dining
Tables distanced properly in a very safe environment
My wife and I came to Bacchus for a date night and we were not disappointed. My wife and I got married at Bacchus so we were really excited to return. Meryl and her team were attentive and provided excellent service. The food was amazing including the Crème Brûlée we had for dessert. The ambiance is perfect for a date night.
What a pleasant surprise! We were staying in a hotel a few blocks away and there weren’t a lot of dining options. The back garden was lovely, the service was good, and the food was delicious! We will definitely return next time we are in the neighborhood
The food was very mediocre. I have had better frozen empanadas. The burger wasn’t very fresh or tasty. The branzino was fine. Nothing spectacular. The accompanying Brussels sprouts were likely microwaved.
Romantic, spacious, quaint, delicious - I felt like I was in France!
It was the first time going to Bacchus. Food- average, ribeye steak was absolutely horrible, including preparation and meat quality, salads were fresh and pasta was good. Nothing extraordinary. Service was very quick, we felt like we were at the fast food restaurant. The outdoor seating was beautiful. Personally I wouldn’t go there the second time.
As always, Bacchus never disappoints. Food, ambience, attentive service.
the food was fantastic. service was great as well. my only critique, was the size of the table. For a party of 4, the table was too small to accommodate the amount of food ordered. but otherwise, a lovely atmosphere and great food.
highly recommend!
Celebrating the life of our newborn.
We happily celebrated our 12th Wedding Anniversary at Bacchus and I’m so glad that we decided to go there. From the moment of our arrival till we walked out our experience was nothing less than stellar. With social distancing and outdoor dining only limiting our options we were so excited that at Bacchus we were able to accomplish both with great service and a fabulous dinner. The outdoor garden space created provided just the right ambiance for us to feel as though we were light years away from all that surrounded us. For a couple of hours we focused on each other and the delicious meal we shared. It was exactly what we both needed and wanted. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodated our late arrival (traffic) for which I’m so grateful. The food was wonderfully prepared and presented. As I said before the entire evening was transformed into a truly special occasion as we celebrated our marriage.
The food was delicious and the service was good. On the other hand: 1) a supposedly French Restaraunt had enchiladas on the menu, 2) the music in a supposedly French restaurant was Cardi B with WAP, 3) Indian Incenses were all over the back yard. This place has potential, the backyard (not a back garden) with the sitting area is lovely but the atmosphere is not French at all. I gave it 4 stars because the restaurant is not what is advertised. It is not French by any standards
Excellent food, service and ambience. Lovely garden to sit in and everything was clean and socially distanced.
This was our first time visiting Bacchus and it was an enjoyable experience. Friendly staff, delicious food, good service and the outdoor garden was absolutely beautiful, during a wonderful evening with candle light. A wedding was in full force. So romantic. We will defiantly be back again.
Wonderful ambience and great food. Patio was quiet and distanced, perfect for COVID times
Never sure what to expect when eating out during a pandamic. I felt very safe. All the tables were spaced apart and it was nice as there was also privacy. The menus were on chalk boards and they just adjusted them when you sat down. The food was amazing and really great night to sit out side on the beautiful patio and see the beautiful lights. Really wonderful!
Very safe Outdoor seating, prompt service, good food and friendly staff.
Food was delicious and the outdoor space is lovely.
My friend and I came here for outdoor seating during Covid. Their outdoor garden has a nice ambiance and seating was well spaced out. They have hand sanitizer available as you walk in to enter the garden. They even put something under the tables to ward off bugs at night. The restroom was also clean and easy to access.
The food was really good. We shared the Bacchus salad as an appetizer which was fresh and loaded with different types of fruit. For our entrees, we both ordered the Black Angus Ribeye which was quite tasty and a good portion...neither of us were able to finish it and took the rest for leftovers. They also have a good wine list and we were happy with the bottle of wine they recommended for us.
My only complaint was that service was a bit slow and not as attentive as I would have liked (we had to wave down the waiter a few times), so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are rushing to do something afterwards. But I would definitely recommend it for it's outdoor seating and delicious food.
The atmosphere is wonderful! Our waiter/waitress were both so kind to us. Thanks for wonderful experience.
Wonderful!
