Bacchanalia - Chicago
The restaurant is recognized by many Chicago food critics and it has also been chosen by Zagat's as being one of the 1000 Top Italian restaurants in our country. We are a small hidden gem in this great big city. The restaurant atmosphere is cozy and quaint and the service is friendly and accommodating. Come let us feed you.
New Year’s Eve dinner was excellent, as usual!
What a wonderful dinner! We went here for my birthday and had such a nice time. Everything about the meal was just how I remember it to be from 20 years ago. Very classic Italian food; everyone makes you feel like you are at home. The lasagna was amazing and such a huge portion! You will not be disappointed!
Went with 4 people. Only one Person at our table did not like her entree. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. Would go back again,
The service was great & food was delicious. Love the old Italian home cooking.
Great service, great food, great staff!!
The place is as good as I remember it. The food is excellect Italian and the white fish is the best I ever had. Like a neighborhood restaurant which it is .
Great veal parm and lasagna! Tiramisu and cannoli was spot on as well. Good house Chianti.
The food was amazing. We had the baked clams, lasagna and the lobster diavolo. The best Italian food I’ve ever had.
Amazing food and great service! Stuffed gnocchi was outstanding! Just make sure you leave time for valet ... it takes awhile.
I love Bacchanalia. My friends and I have been coming back for years for our annual Christmas dinner. I love that this restaurant has been in the same family for years and years. The food is always outstanding and is made fresh. I have recommended this restaurant to friends and they are very grateful for the recommendation.
We were a group of 16 and then added 3 more at time of order, so not an easy group at the outset. That being said, the restaurant was not busy and okay with our size. The service was very good, attentive and knowledgeable. I don't believe anyone was disappointed or surprised with their meal, except the size, which, in all cases, was enough and then some. The overall value is well worth the stop and if you are hungry, I mean really hungry, order the lasagna and you will be pleased. Very happy with our choice and would recommend a stop by.
Always a great meal at Bacchanalia!
Celebrated our Italian heritage before seeing Sebastian Maniscalco! Great food and times.
I’ve been going there for over 30 years and it never disappoints. Great people and great food.
This place is amazing! The food is delicious, the ambiance is lively but not too loud and the wine is great too. My girlfriend and I have been here twice in the past few months and both times it was delicious. It's definitely our first pick if we want Italian food.
Restaurant is waaaayyyy too small but the quality of the food is excellent. They need to seriously consider moving into a larger space.
Able to accommodate our large 10+ person group. But I can see it perfect for 2-4 people as well. Food came quick, in large portions, and delicious, for an affordable price.
Always a pleasure to dine at Bacchanalia! Love the atmosphere, old school Italian portions and value. A warm embrace every time we visit. Can’t wait to go back.
We were in town for the Chicago marathon. Baccanalia was outside the loop but a very nice surprise! Everything was great
Celebrated our 30th anniversary.
Love the decor , great service & delicious Italian food
our new favorite italian place in chicago
yummy food, generous portions reasonable prices
a fun adventure in a new "hood"
Great food , the staff is very nice and always a great price !!!
They were very accommodating on my birthday!
Great food. Small tables. Tremendous value.
Shhh don’t tell anyone what a super restaurant this is great food excellent service
Good sized portions reasonable prices
We will return
This was always one of our favorites in Chicago, but it seems to have gone down a couple of pegs. No more free, delicious focaccia bread! Food was good, but not great. Had to ask another waitress for drink refills. There are many other good Italian restaurants in the city. Bac’s needs to step up their game!
The food never disappoints! Awesome wine list, as well!
I know we are spoiled because we love this place and have been going here forever. This really is no reason to look for Italian dishes in an old school Italian restaurant setting! With a recent remodel the place looks great. Entrees are spot on. The staff once again brought their A Game. Last week we took my buddy, Mike from Iowa, to the restaurant and seven days later is still talking about it!
Best kept secret in Chicago. Old school phenomenal Italian. Been going strong for 40 years. You just can’t beat it !
The linguine with clams was the best I’ve had in over 20 years. Servings are large , service is really good. Atmosphere is old style. Cost is reasonable. Little noisy, but kind of OK because of the size.
One of our favorite Italian restaurants in Chicago!
The food and service were very good as usual. The noise level was at the painful level. There was really loud talker and unfortunately, everyone ramped up their level to be heard. The restaurant is usually noisy but this was over the top.
Amazing food. Great service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
The most gracious hostess, the most delicious and generously plated Italian cuisine set in a small and intimate setting. I cannot say enough kind words about my dining experience at this restaurant.
Food was ok, but not as good as we were lead to believe. It was overpriced for what we had (1 entree, 2 appetizers, no alcohol) and including the valet parking is cost approximately $68.00.
Waitress was overwhelmed with tables so service was slow. Great food and wine!
Chicken Marsala was very good, a bit too many mushrooms but the sauce, chicken and pasta were cooked to perfection. Baked clams also very tasty. Will visit again.
Love this place food is top notch! Just need and outdoor patio
I love Bacchanalia. It's small, quant, and cozy. Like eating in an Italian Family Dining Room. Service is great and recommended the shrimp/risotto special; which was awesome. The kitchen is tiny and you can tell they prepare the food by the table. The food is always served piping hot, fresh, and with huge portions. This is a neighborhood joint and the neighborhood is friendly and welcoming.
We love Bacchanalia! We have been going here for over twenty five years. Paula and Dan are always excited to see regulars come in. They are so nice. They staff is great and the entrees are even better. Each selection is better than the next. We hadn't been in for a few months and was so glad we did (four days ago)! Mouth is watering and want to go again right now!
