We loved this place and wish we had discovered it before our last night in PDR. It is that gastropub you wish you had in your neighborhood. Creative/tasty small plates, affordable, prompt/friendly service, and a nice wine/cocktail program. We ate 5 meals in PDR on our stay and Bacari was the favorite of a fairly strong group.
Great small plates restaurant with unusual menu items.
The food was good as always. We shared several plates including chicken wings, kale salad, cauliflower and the brussel sprouts. We opted for the beer and wine open bar. The sparkling wine was flat and they ran out of the house red wine and would not offer a substitution. This was disappointing.
They serve a wide variety of small plates that range from adventurously unique to mom’s home cooking, and I loved the ability to try something I otherwise would never have had a chance to try. But the well drinks...doubled our check. Got one drink, my husband got one drink, and that put us up $30. No prices on the menu, no prices from the waitress. They have $30/person 90 minute open bar but we didn’t want to get drunk before our movie. Didn’t think anything of it til the check arrived. Seems weird that a single pour of a liquor is more expensive than a food dish.
My husband and I met half way for a dinner date, and Bacari didn’t disappoint at all! We will DEFINITELY be back!
Super cute date spot with great food. They were a little slow but nothing to complain about.
Went to dinner with friends and it was Fabulous. From the incredibly tasty dishes to the great service we were so pleased. We ordered multiple dishes and every single one was flavorful and delicious. We started with drinks, grilled house baguette, ceviche and bruschetta - don’t miss the eggplant bruschetta! Our server was attentive, funny and had a great personality. For our main meal, we shared Seared Scallops, Brussels Sprouts, Shwarma Tacos (highly recommended), Feta Filo, and the Sea Bass Balik.
And although we were stuffed we couldn’t pass up the Malabi (light and refreshing) and the cardamom chocolate ganache. One of the the best meals we’ve experienced in a long time!
It is extremely loud. The food is good, the wine expensive and the service was good.
great small plates for sharing, good service and nice happy hour.
Our server, Ren, was lovely and had the right combo of attentiveness and fun.
The food was hit or miss. The gnocchi, scallops and mussels were on point. The flatbread and Asian pear salad were lacking any special flavor. I would not get them again.
It was loud in the restaurant and I worried that we would have trouble having a conversation but it worked out ok since we were at a table in the back corner.
LOVE this place!! Food is amazing and if you end up with Liz as your server, you have for sure lucked out.
We celebrated GALentine’s Day last year here and came back this year. Everything was delicious. We wished we had not eaten earlier in the day that way we could’ve eaten more.
You’ve got to try the chopped salad and have them bring the pork belly out at the same time. Those 2 are delicious together !
The sea scallops are perfectly cooked! The salmon is perfectly cooked and in the future I’ll ask them to put extra lemon in the bulgur wheat that’s served underneath it. We decided to get another chopped salad and pork belly but the open face burger, the polenta is so creamy and the assortment of mushrooms is divine. We took “The best cake ever” to go (2 of them).
Service is superb. Everyone works together. The all call out “behind you” 😝 so there’s no accidents. I can’t wait to come back because I just noticed there’s an outdoor space on the patio/veranda (in front of the small parking lot they have) so in the summer, that’s going to be my GO TO SPOT.
Plus, they change the menu with the season. I’ll definitely be back with more people who have yet to experience Bacari PDR.
I heard their other location shows movies and you can enjoy their menu at the same time, so I will check that out over the summer too
We went on Valentine's Day with low expectations since this can be a disaster at many restaurants. But our dining experience was one of the best in years! Liz was our server, she was great, the kitchen did an amazing job. I think this will be our designated spot to go to for Valentine's night with my beautiful bride.
Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing!!
Alicia the manager is the definition of hospitality. She really went above and beyond to accommodate our group. Our experience was truly unforgettable.
The food was good , service very friendly, noise made it difficult to have quiet conversations
Really great atmosphere and service. We were seated immediately and our server was friendly and great. Food was delicious. Portions were small but fair for the price, great for family style sharing
Overall, happy to see Bacari has lowered its prices over the last few months, it was previously quite expensive for the portions - which are tapas style. Food was good, but there aren’t many alternatives for egg or nut allergies, there is an aioli on several of the dishes, and it would be nice to have more vinegar based options. I had the bone marrow, shrimp ceviche with lime/chili chips (delish), and a burger, which was sad because with the tomato and aioli I had a burger and a bun - wish I would have known that before it came out. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food, I would go back (this is about my third time here).
Love the idea of tapas where everyone can share and taste a bit of everything. Overall the food was good but lacking in flavor. The beet salad was so boring it literaly had a few slices of beets on a plate w random small dollops of goat cheese. No arugula, no garnish, no dressing. I could have made that myself. Other dishes didn't quite disappoint but none had that wow factor. Both fish dishes were bland and not too flavorful. The host/server was incredibly overwhelmed so even though we had a reservation it took him a while to even check us in lest give us a table. The server was great. The ambience is terrific and the vibe super chill. I really like this place but wish I could really love it.
Food was good but not great for the price. We ordered the fries, brussels sprouts, pork belly, wings, and chicken tacos. My favorite was the pork belly... tasty but only 5 measly bites.
The drinks were tasty but not as strong as I like ;)
Service was ok. I like it when they’re more attentive.
Also, this is not really my kind of restaurant where it’s dark and the noise level is kind of high.
Dine LA night at Bacari was fabulous! The servers did a great job of pacing the meal, as we ordered 8 different tapas plates that were all shared. Definitely want to come back!
Food was excellent. Very small portions. Service was haphazard at best. Took forever to get our food and the dishes came to the table one at a time 15 minutes apart. My friend and I are very light eaters so it was enough, but definitely wouldn’t go here if I was hungry and was looking for average size portions.
Great Food. Excellent service. Happy Hour Mon thru Friday 5 to 7pm. Went there thru Dine LA will return.
I love this place! Unfortunately no more Tal’s Tower.
Everything was great from ambiance, friendly and efficient server, to foods and drinks.
Took forever to get seated, even with a reservation. But they gave us a free drink for the wait and the menu was fantastic!
Great meal and good with our kids.
Tasty food but slow service, expect an hour between the first dish and last dish coming out. Ordered two of the same dish at same time, second one came out 20+ minutes after first one. Can be very loud inside. Servers are somewhat friendly though overall service is not great.
Bacari is such a fun spot for date night or getting together with friends! I love their tapas and they always have the best happy hour.
Great for vegetarian-friendly AND meat lovers! Friendly staff, warm ambiance. Excellent food and drinks.
One of my favorite restaurants on the Westside. I come here often, and it never disappoints. Highly recommended.
Very good food, great service on busy New Year’s Eve.
Brunch on Sunday was fantastic
I always like Bacari. I have been there many times for drinks, dinner or lunch. It's a cozy place and the wine and food list is very nice and unique. It's probably my favorite place in Playa del Rey.
Amazing food and cocktails
Happy hours are just right
